The Meh Nostalgia Thread
19Looking back over the past year or so we've run across quite a few fond memories. The forums have been riddled with humorous events, strange individuals, and memorable moments. I feel that it is very important for us to maintain a thread dedicated to those memories. This thread can also be used as an opportunity for new members to get a glimpse into our zany and awesome community.
What do you feel are some of the most memorable moments of Meh?
Just to start things off...
@JonT: Our original forum guide. He was always around providing Mehricans with gifs and empty promises. He had a pretty stellar beard. Best known for promising forum prizes with mediocre follow thru.
Bath?--Code word utilized during the great Built NY Neoprene Case event. This word still litters random forum pages. @BillLehecka took an actual bath with these suckers, earned him some goathood.

Blah blah blah, lots of words....
tl;dr @marklog fingered his dog.
may I confess something? I have no idea when baby arm became a thing ._.
@Lotsofgoats Could be wrong...but I'm pretty sure it was here...September 9th, 2014

@studerc ~*nostalgia!*~
Oooh! I don't know if this is nostalgic at all, but I think it's important to note that this website has taught many of us a smattering of both Japanese and Korean.
@DaveInSoCal the Korean invasion on SDF was the most random thing that happened here, imo.
@DaveInSoCal @Thumperchick I still see Ppomppu sometimes as a referrer link, but I miss the Korean forum posts.
@galmaegi What happened? Do you still get a lot of questions from Korea? You should encourage them to join in the forums. Call out the forum lurkers.
@2many2no I don't get Korean emails any more. Who should I blame for this?
@galmaegi yourself, for being too efficient.
@Thumperchick maybe they don't like me.
@galmaegi
@galmaegi This month, @christinewas.
Don't blame yourself, we all love you anyway.
@galmaegi If you'd like, we can start writing support requests in using Google Translate Korean.
@2many2no
@dashcloud I'm pretty sure @hollboll is down for that idea too!
@dashcloud @galmaegi, the Google translate Korean emails are my favorite.
Bonus if you translate them to Korean, go to Bing, translate back to English then take that and go back to Google and translate it again.
I enjoyed that brief period where we were all using Google Translate to cross language and cultural barriers and interacting with people we probably never would otherwise.
i liked @poppiart and wished he/she could have provided us with more speaker docks
the twistedlisa thread was also great entertainment.
@carl669 It was one of my favorite thanksgivings.
@MEHcus So here I am again, anxious for more comments which make no sense to me at all. However, I learn something new every day!
@poppiart is back!
@carl669 maybe he never left !
@carl669 I enjoy how that still occasionally gets confused people angry at @lisaviolet.
Remember when @studerc made a nostalgia thread? Good times.
@ACraigL Seems like only yesterday...er, um...today.
East Cost v. West Coast.
@studerc West coast wins. Fuck @mfladd and his EC jimmies.
@jaremelz Little unfair to lump the rest of the East Coast in with him!
@dashcloud a LOT unfair! :)
@dashcloud @mikibell My condolences. I do not make these rules, but must indeed live by them. If you will concede that they are called sprinkles, however, exceptions can be made.
@dashcloud @mikibell
@jaremelz didn't mean it, she's just rustling your jimmies.
@djslack No no, she quite means it. And leave their sprinkles out of it!
@jaremelz in our house..sprinkles are for winners!
@jaremelz @mikibell @dashcloud @studerc
They are jimmies! Fuck you West Coast, and you lame East Coasters.
@mfladd Chill out bitch, West Coast rules.
Mmmmm, sprinkles.
@jaremelz
@mfladd Disqualified, you've used it before. Late night losing, East Coast style.
My hate is strong ;)~
@mfladd Seems like anyone dumb enough to make a "just jimmies" ice cream would also be dumb enough to call them by the wrong name. Does this flavor actually appeal to anyone?
https://munchies.vice.com/articles/the-age-old-question-of-whether-jimmies-are-racist
@jaremelz If you cover an East-coast soft serve with sprinkles like that, does it give it a jimmie hat?
@mfladd Since you see no need to play nice with your own team, neither will I:
The Cowboys are a better team anyway (P.S. I don't like the Cowboys at all).
Next time remember:
@dashcloud @christinewas @jaremelz @mikibell
Why don't you all kiss my rainbow jimmie'd ass!
@mfladd I'll bet her stage name is Sprinkles.
@mfladd
@mikibell
@Pavlov
http://www.boston.com/bostonglobe/ideas/articles/2011/03/13/the_jimmies_story/
@mfladd - Both articles question whether or not the term is racist. IMO, the answer is a little more complex, and along the lines of "what wasn't racist now is" - which (again, IMO) is a trend eminently more dangerous than many forms of actual racism.
@Pavlov This was discussed at length on another thread that I was unable to find. I had the same concerns until I researched it. Based on the numerous articles I found I believe the name is not based on racism. For that reason - they shall remain "jimmies" to my Bostonian self. I also do not think the name would continue in current products if there was any truth to it.
@mfladd that last sentence is DEFINITELY not true, money always wins out - see: Washington football team
we should however ban the word "jimmies" because it sounds dumb af
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@mfladd @lotsofgoats -
Racist product names are not only prevalent, they are embraced by our national culture. Um . . . let's see - Aunt Jemima, Miss Chiquita, the Frito Bandito, Eskimo Pie, Uncle Ben's, Chief Wahoo, my beloved KC Chiefs (yeah, I know - they're hopeless this year), the Redskins . . . Sambo's (now defunct).
Sorry I missed the last thread. Would have been interesting.
@Lotsofgoats blah blah blah...see my jimmie'd covered ass above. You have explicit permission to kiss them.
@Pavlov
@Pavlov @lotsofgoats I think when the term in question is as vague as this one, it cannot be compared to other brands such as the Redskins. There's no real proof, in my opinion, that it is racist, it's just a term that some few, misguided folks grew up with and still use. Besides, in all of this back and forth about whether the term is racist, we are losing sight of the bigger picture.
That being that west coast rules, and @mfladd sucks half-pumped balls.
@jaremelz I will have you know my jimmie'd covered balls are perfect (fully inflated)
@Pavlov
@jaremelz @pavlov You have both brought the "jimmie" to new lows. I love it! :)
@jaremelz I've lived on the East Coast my entire life and this is the first I've heard of sprinkles being called jimmies. I reject it as an East Coast thing and suggest it's instead likely some New England nonsense. Also, West Coast Less Coast.
@studerc @pavlov @jaremelz @mfladd
I am not sure what is going on, but I thought I would contribute.
@darkzrobe Oh deer, nice sprinkles.
@jaremelz
@mfladd's perspective:
remember when people exposed themselves on the forum?
@carl669 But in all fairness, you did show us yours first.
@jaremelz i know. and i'm seeking therapy for that.
@carl669 Aren't we the ones who should get therapy now?
@jaremelz i don't expose myself very often, so i'm thinking y'all should feel honored.
@Barney is a big fan of purple.
Just sayin.
@studerc I love purple.
I remember when @ACraigL got nostalgic.
I remember when I got wayy to into necromancy and @pavlov among others gave me a reality check.
@connorbush I approved of your occult practices
When we pulled together to name a goat "Scape" in a random board game.
@Thumperchick Good times!
I'm going to say that pretty much everything that was in @JonT 's Let’s take a look back on our favorite Mehmories thread should be here.
@ceagee I thought this thread looked familiar...
@Thumperchick @ceagee
.
.
.
Well...fuck. Not sure how i missed that. I for one blame @christinewas
Blame accepted for @studerc's failure to pay attention.
I have to go with Tiny Tub Mummy and the whole breakfast quest that defined @Starblind's goathood.
Whatever happened to Abe Vigoda?
So stuff that happened less than a year ago now qualifies as "nostalgia"?
"I like digital cameras, because they enable you to reminisce immediately. snap 'Look at us! We were so young! Standing right there, wow. Where does the minute go?'" - Demetri Martin
@DrWorm Shall I really blow your mind ? Watched a special on the brain on PBS. It said that it takes half a second ( or more for some) for your brain to process all the input on your surroundings and what is going on, etc... by the time you have awareness of something/ anything you are already in the past !
We are all living in the past
@ceagee Holy shit, you watch PBS? Mind blown.
@ceagee http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/blogs/physics/2014/06/there-is-no-now/
@Sabre99 "watched" Apparently it takes your brain much longer than 1/2 second.
@ceagee @Pavlov Actually "living in the past" is the obverse of the true situation...
Since it is a well-known fact that a batter can occasionally hit a fastball even though his actions are substantially behind his vision, we are actually seeing into the future.
@2many2no Nah - that's an example of correctly anticipating future past events. Also known as magic.
The Smart Planet Eco Ceramic Mug shipping debacle. Or the time people ordered something cheap and got that surveillance camera. Can't recall what was originally ordered.
Ah, the sweet, sweet memories.
(I'm still fond of the East Coast - West Coast Civil War. That was fun!)
@Teripie LED lanterns
Remember that time @JonT sent me a Kitchen-Aid stand mixer just for saying the word bath?
1) the time that they sent @phatmass a white speaker instead of a black speaker, and then sent @phatmass a sharpie to make it a black speaker. AWW YISSS.
2) the time @matthew cleaned up a possum skull. "That horrible little dried up nose..." And then cleaned up a woodchuck skull. "Sarcasm does not always come across" And then threatened to clean up a beaver skull. "Ooo! I love beaver!"
3) "HANK HARLAN, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN!" (and it went on and on...)
@curtise - That sharpie was one of the first signs of their irreverent humor, iirc. Maybe that's when I fell in love.
That time people didn't get a Fuku bag and started bitching like this was woot all over again.....good times
