So long, pals.
75I’ve been with these forums for nearly 5 and a half years, and the time has come for me to shuffle off this flask and mosey on out: Tomorrow will be my last day.
I have thoroughly enjoyed posting with you all, nearly killing myself with dry ice, traveling the Oregon Trail together, (not) solving an Old West mystery, deep frying a speaker dock, singing Christmas carols, sending out custom hats (both pink cowboy and “official”), and all the other fun and games we’ve had that I can’t even remember anymore.
Believe it or not, it can be fairly difficult to find a job when your resume says “mediocre” and your best examples of digital media are a photoshopped kid on a hoverboard toilet or a video of you zapping a dead fish with a taser. Thankfully I found a company that saw value in my wide range of, uh, “skills,” so I’m headed to a small home decor company to help spruce up their web presence and get them started with e-commerce. It is a really exciting opportunity for me and I couldn’t have done it without everything I’ve learned here.
As someone who discovered Woot in the computer lab in high school, working with Meh was a huge deal for me and I am sorry to have to leave. The community here has truly been the highlight of my time with the company, so thank you for that. I’ll be sure to pop back in from time to time to see what everybody is up to and what new adventures the creative team here has cooked up for everybody.

In my tepid defense, you had a lot of links in there. The previously visited links (like the announcement video) were a shade of gray that were barely noticeable in my browser. Conversely, the links I had not visited before were blue and impossible to miss.

@medz Having previous experience in home decor definitely helped. My only fear is that I will never escape the industry, because it is not one I ever would’ve guessed I’d be in. But thank you, I always appreciated our friendly rivalry and I’m sorry you will have to empty out your “screenshots of moose” folder now.

Do you actually read all the posts that you star?

If I’m interested in the topic at hand, I read the posts. I don’t go into topics and then not read posts but star them anyway;
and in topics where I just never followed up past a certain point, one can sometimes tell where I stopped reading and never came back. Usually due to lack of time.
sometimes, if I’m less interested in the topic, I’ll skim the topic. I still star those posts, even tho I barely gave them much mind.
More frequently, I read, but sometimes/often I read really fast (esp if busy), and don’t read well.
And I often can’t remember later that I read something (without a lot of prompting).
Also sometimes I will skim posts if I think a topic is nearly “done”. Those posts usually get starred anyway.
I claim no achievement or virtue for my level of reading comprehension. I probably don’t have any reading comprehension.

Those games were so much fun! Especially the Wild West one and the Oregon Trail and that thing with One Punch Man. And speaker docks and weird periscopes. And crazy contests and you taught me how to photoshop.

@Moose - Gah I can’t find the video. I remember this pretty clearly - it was a little electric countertop cooker. You smashed ground beef in the little patty things and cooked and ate them.

Proven point that a flask is required to visit the forums, participate and host games. I really enjoyed the story telling Sheriff Moose. While I did not join the game, I followed the adventure. I will add my good wishes for the future and hope you choose to hang out here sometimes.
