Sometimes, before we roll out new site features, we try them out on our guinea pi- er, VMP friends first.

  • Y’all went crazy with the /giphy command in part 1 of VMP Sneak Peek: Slash Commands.
  • Then we added the /shrug command and editor auto-completion in part 2.
  • In part 3, we added /cowsay to see what it would be like in a forum to add a Unix-style command line application.
  • In part 4, we added /youtube support.
  • In part 5, we added /image support which works well when searching for images of order numbers.

I’m not sure how much utility today’s update has or if it’s just more of an interesting tech demo without much practical purpose.

Even if this doesn’t make the final cut of slash commands we roll out to non-VMP members maybe this helps generate some fresh ideas for future slash commands.
