My husband and I chose to celebrate this on the 15 or 16. Easier to make dinner reservations and cheaper flowers and sweets! Being frugal keeps the love alive!
Right idea, @jkawaguchi. Restaurant kitchens and servers are outrageously busy on the 14th meaning the food, the service, and the atmosphere are not likely to be at their best. Save it for another day.
My wife and I have been married forever… still very much in love… but we have several other “romance-days” we celebrate more than valentines day. We still celebrate the anniversary of our first date, anniversary of me proposing (Feb 2nd, coming up), etc…
… we acknowledge Valentine’s day, we’ll go on a date, but don’t really do too much for it. It’s not as special to us as some of the other days that is “just us”.
I don’t do Valentine’s.
When I was young…and newly in love/lust/infatuation, yeah, did
I’m old, jaded and single, so don’t give a fuck about a hallmark holiday
@Cerridwyn day-after discount chocolates tho
@jouest Taht is the only reason I like Valentine’s. Candy.
@jouest @Wollyhop most of that is crap. I have long outgrown hershey’s vomit
@Cerridwyn Well I don’t get to eat many sugary sweets, so I appreciate what I have, when I get it.

@jkawaguchi Good Idea!
@jkawaguchi pro move. I’m going to tell my wife we’re doing 14/2 instead of 2/14
@jouest hopefully she not from Europe cause that’s still 14 of February!

As I have stated concerning other holidays, I observe holiday clearance.
@mossygreen I still have Hershey’s kisses with the grinch on them but always have room for more.
@mossygreen happy clearance to all who celebrate

@OnionSoup to be fair, even just a date of Valentine’s Day can be kind of a hassle. good for you guys
Cook at home just like any other day of the week.
Total Hallmark holiday! I just get the kids a little something.
