VMP Sneak Peek: Slash Commands (Part 5)

Sometimes, before we roll out new site features, we try them out on our guinea pi- er, VMP friends first.

Y’all went crazy with the /giphy command in part 1 of VMP Sneak Peek: Slash Commands.
Then we added the /shrug command and editor auto-completion in part 2.
In part 3, we added /cowsay to see what it would be like in a forum to add a Unix-style command line application.
In part 4, we added /youtube support.

Today’s update is another simple one: /image [text] posts a random image, which is useful if you’re looking up images for order numbers:

Four images so far and I can see two of them. My work, as I’m sure many do, blocks a lot of social media. So the first picture (Pinterest) and the Conan pic above (YouTube) aren’t visible. While these slash commands are fun, they’re starting to make the forum pages a train wreck when viewing at work. They’re also taking forever to load with all the graphics.

- @communist I’ve tried. I can’t even get to them. I work for a hospital that’s part of a 200 hospital system. Needless to say, their IT is pretty well locked down, especially with all the hacks and ransomware lately.

- @jbartus Even the wifi blocks most of the same sites. No streaming, VPN’s, some social media, etc. They’re insane. I do use my phone OTA but these pages with all the crap on them now really hurts the data usage. I’m not paying more for my service just so I can see a hundred gifs. In other words, I personally think the only recent addition that’s truly worthwhile is the ability to upload images directly. Hoping this all dies down quickly.
