Let’s take a trip down Meh-mory Lane and share some Meh history. I’ll start by posting my entry to the design a ‘Happy Birthday Meh’ Cake contest from 2016.
@FreePasta@heartny
My kids dug in the closet and found the last two Quips and started using them a month ago. I thought they were pretty weak sauce for electric toothbrushes, but I’m glad they got used.
I just wish I’d been less busy so I would have caught the email about sizing my toothbrush club T-shirt because I got one in a size nobody here can wear
Still here, Meh. I’m waiting out these fucking shenanigans, just like the good ol’ days. Get your shit fixed so i can snag my birthday IRK and get some sleep! Love, @studerc.
I was too lame to know about the original Kickstarter but I was here on day one. According to my order history, my first purchase was an X-Mini KAI Bluetooth Speaker on July 14. I bought some cedar grilling planks on August 5. I think I used two. I just ran across the rest in the storage closet on my back deck.
I haven’t been particularly active in the forum the past bunch of years. I wonder if @unixrab is still around.
@heartny
Oh wow, THAT was mean! How long was it before you gave up hope on your 2nd box? Maybe you’ll get it now for their 10th birthday! Wouldn’t THAT be something special…
Woot! Meh-rathon… tickle me purple. Still have some pennies and F4 key from a random user I swapped personally created boxes of crap with. Forums got strange and tumbleweeds started to fly. I think I still use some outlet switches with Alexa and a blootooth adapter with an old stereo receiver. Happy Birthday weirdos
I-ve been here since Kickstarter but regret that I missed the very first button click on Day zero. I then spent the next year lamenting that I was one click behind everyone else who hadn’t missed a button. Thankfully, my first streak only lasted 366 days.
I too missed the kickstarter… not because I didn’t know about it, but because I over-procrastinated and missed the frakking deadline. Thankfully, @meh got me a kickstarter shirt, so we can pretend I wasn’t a complete and total fucktarded moron.
And some of the clueless ones around here might even think that @meh is meh.com.
@narfcake@Thumperchick lol she knows, me and thumper go way back. like way, way, way back to a town in buttfuck nowhere. but also back to woot/ DWC chat where i was meh before @snapster wasn’t woot and before meh was even a mediocre thought.
@ciabelle Oh that sale! I had (have?) SO MANY of those. I gave them away to students, left them places, donated, and it seemed like the box was still full.
There’s a lot of early nostalgia for me to return to the light…
@JonT finally dishing out Scapegoat prizes. My trophy sits on my desk to this day.
The Twofer Tuesday that dirty, back alley temptress…emerging from the shadows yet again.
When Meh helped fund a donors choose for my classroom when I was a teacher.
The Meh community throwing my first born a mini baby shower!
Taking on Project Wohler and the first Mehrican Exchange.
When IRKs were Fukubukuros and far better/worse.
Back when items had the fuses that would break at certain sell thresholds and pause buying for a certain period of time.
Back when Meh sold speaker docs and knives and all was right in the world.
I don’t see nearly as many “K” Kickstarter badges on the forums, but I know many are like me, just lurkers, hanging out waiting for special days like today to come out and play!
Meh, you’ve been nothing short of great! Thanks for all the laughs, memories, and the awesome deals along the way.
@studerc i’ve never been goat but i do still use a speaker dock and a pocket knife every single day… i use at least one of the “set of 3” cutting boards every day… and my refurb blu-ray player almost weekly.
Oh look, it was 5 years ago this month that I was goated. I thoroughly enjoyed creating the Field of 32 that month. As you might recall, the big winner was Meh t-shirts. https://meh.com/forum/topics/cinoclavs-field-of-32-winner-and-end-of-goatdom
There were an awful lot of super nice comments sent my way that month. While I haven’t been quite as active the past few years, I just want everyone here (old and new) to know that I love you all. This site, the people, and all the fun we’ve had over these past ten years have meant an awful lot to me. Thanks @snapster and @dave for creating something so special.
@studerc
That was indeed the best part of Meh for me. So, so much penne… And one of our friends had just gotten married and blended families, so they were feeding like 10 people every night. Boy were they all glad to see 80# of penne dropped on them!
I remember when as a joke you opened free irks for tattoos, not expecting anyone to take you up on the offer. Lo and behold, a couple people did… and then more joined in. When I got min the tattooist was a bit confused. I was in a different state and only had hours left before the window closed again. But I’m in
@jetedrow I had to go look up my first order on here. I know my first woot order when Matt still owned it was a case of Mickey Mouse band-aids.
On here it is this - and I actually still own it.
So many memorable community activities/activities, some sponsored by meh and others by community members. @jonT’s community building. Funding teachers, contests both during meh events and separately, pallets of stuff, VMP gifts, the unofficial exchanges… @snapster sharing his thoughts and musings/asking for input… the Korean meh invasion… many clever videos (wish we’d get new ones)… too many to list.
Joined Kickstarter Sept. 10th, 2013. Yes, '13. Became a VMP July 2014 and still am. Most memorable memory - got a letter! Then a call from a trucking company verifying my address! Lo and behold, a five foot tall bubble gum machine. Had gumballs that were so old you could drop them and they shattered. Still had a little money in it. Replaced the gumballs and my grandkids had a great time with it. Eventually sold it. Still a great memory!!!
I’m not really sharing a memory because I can’t remember all of the details. Several years ago. Meh offered to sell an LED lantern (I think) and shipped Wi-Fi security cameras instead. Then they requested customers to ship the camera back. (I think) Someone refresh my memory please.
Those of you who were here at the beginning - how did you hear about it? I was pretty active on the original woot but didn’t hear about meh until it had been around for a few years.
@heartny@merichmond@narfcake Kickstarter when I was looking for a startup company I could use as a case in the classroom that I thought the students would relate to/enjoy.
I have 365 purchases, the first one being a speaker doc on August 8th, 2014.
I didn’t get on the Fukos early - the first one I got was number 18 on Dec 4, 2017. I got 2 more after that, then they switched to the IRK, which I have managed to nab 37 of over the years.
Mac Book Air purchased on 8/14/2017, which was just retired last year
Nutri Ninja Blender from 10/22/2017 - still going strong blending smoothies like a champ
The Motif Essential Pour Over Coffee Brewer on 8/16/19 - I loved that coffee pot, but an integral piece was misplaced when I vacated my office during the covid times
The hammock and stand from 7/25/2020 - helped keep me sane during the pandemic and still nice to lounge in once in a while
*the Dude Wipe Bidet from 7/9/2023 - I don’t know why I waited so long to get a bidet
There were a few misses. Probably the biggest regret was the Cuisinart Cordless Hand Mixer, just because it didn’t last very long.
@sillyheathen those were the days. bright orange things, and a lot of them. sadly, i just donated that coat yesterday. new place has much smaller closets, so a purge was necessary.
@carl669 also I’m still sending you a box. The con I vended at finished yesterday so there’s a little less crazy in my life. AND! The less murdery shed now has a concrete pad and will have walls and floors in a few weeks!
@carl669 methinks there is somehow nothing more meh than that! but I guess I should probably get your forwarding address… They might not appreciate the word fuck as much as you and I.
The great 10th birthday outage… Where were you?
@jaybird Hopefully Meh will be getting new servers for their birthday.
@FreePasta I still have one toothbrush left and several refills I ordered from Quip.
@FreePasta @heartny I have one, unopened Quip which will remain sealed forever!
@FreePasta @heartny
I was looking forward to recollecting the old days of glitches, server outages, and stalled excitement.
I see nothing has changed!
@studerc At least Meh is consistent
@heartny @studerc
??CONSISTENT?? HAVE YOU SEEN THE MEH-RATHONS LATELY… IRK PRICES ARE ANYTHING BUT CONSISTENT!
Project Seligman.
ETA:
Still here, Meh. I’m waiting out these fucking shenanigans, just like the good ol’ days. Get your shit fixed so i can snag my birthday IRK and get some sleep! Love, @studerc.
@studerc fucking called it. **bows
@studerc hi @studerc long time no see
@meh long time no doubt! How have you been?
@studerc oh you know this and that, how about you?
First!
Happy bday meh….
@wootthereitis You’re bad at math.
I was too lame to know about the original Kickstarter but I was here on day one. According to my order history, my first purchase was an X-Mini KAI Bluetooth Speaker on July 14. I haven’t been particularly active in the forum the past bunch of years. I wonder if @unixrab is still around.
@SSteve always
This was inside my IRK/Fuko/Fuku from 2015, but I never got Box 2, or Brad
@heartny
Also, FUCK! (for you @carl669, and others).
Does someone recall the google search to get the fuck count?
@baqui63 It got pulled up just recently. Thursday. https://meh.com/forum/topics/fun-fact
@baqui63 hi @carl669
@baqui63 @carl669 @meh
Hi, motherfucking @carl669!
There. FIFY.
my favorite memory is how this bullshit fucking dipshit website stole my name.
no really, that’s my fave.
@meh it still cracks me up that you have that username and we never even tried to get it back.
@Thumperchick Given that @meh registered when it was just the mediocre forums and the site came later, it’s only fair.
(I still think she deserves some compensation for the occasional haphazard customer who thinks she’s the company, though!)
@Thumperchick hey thumper how are ya?
@narfcake @Thumperchick lol she knows, me and thumper go way back. like way, way, way back to a town in buttfuck nowhere. but also back to woot/ DWC chat where i was meh before @snapster wasn’t woot and before meh was even a mediocre thought.
@meh hanging in there. Still in the same spot. You?
@Thumperchick still out here in WA land, but workin a new gig these days. it’s good, mostly.
Posted in the main thread, didn’t see this until now.
Taking a BATH for a fuckton of neoprene sleeves
@ciabelle Oh that sale! I had (have?) SO MANY of those. I gave them away to students, left them places, donated, and it seemed like the box was still full.
The choose your own adventure that played out over a month with the VGA-esque graphics that went along with it.
@mikey Aww, Tiny Tub Mummy
@cinoclav Found the thread. Alas, the embedded images are broken.
Knives and Speaker Docks… Lots of knives and Speaker Docks… For months on end…
Oh… And also all the knives and Speaker Docks.
And I should also probably mention the knives and Speaker Docks.
@OnionSoup What about the Speaker Docks and knives?
@blaineg I don’t remember those.
There’s a lot of early nostalgia for me to return to the light…
@JonT finally dishing out Scapegoat prizes. My trophy sits on my desk to this day.

Meh, you’ve been nothing short of great! Thanks for all the laughs, memories, and the awesome deals along the way.
EVERYTHING IS AWESOME!
@studerc I, too, have my goat trophy. But @puppycate stole it for her desk.
@studerc i’ve never been goat but i do still use a speaker dock and a pocket knife every single day… i use at least one of the “set of 3” cutting boards every day… and my refurb blu-ray player almost weekly.

How have we not talked about Pasta Drop?! So much fucking pasta.
@studerc
That was indeed the best part of Meh for me. So, so much penne… And one of our friends had just gotten married and blended families, so they were feeding like 10 people every night. Boy were they all glad to see 80# of penne dropped on them!
@studerc This was so great! Our neighborhood postman was soooo confused! There were 3 Meh’ers on our block…we might have all hit each other with that.
@studerc I still haven’t finished all the penne, and I donated 120+ pounds to a local soup kitchen.
I remember when as a joke you opened free irks for tattoos, not expecting anyone to take you up on the offer. Lo and behold, a couple people did… and then more joined in. When I got min the tattooist was a bit confused. I was in a different state and only had hours left before the window closed again. But I’m in
@mbersiam
I’m still waiting for them to reopen that… But I’m afraid they’ll put more humiliating requirements on it
@guyfromhawthorn It’s permanently closed, much like kickstarter, if you missed it, you missed it.
@mbersiam I came very close to getting a tattoo several times… And every time I didn’t I regretted it.
Laziness was the main reason I never did.
My plan was to have the tattoo on my upper butt cheek so I would ppst photos of my arse in silly underwear pulled down each mehrathon as verification.
I was lazy… Never got the tattoo… The rest is history.
@mbersiam @OnionSoup
You’ve deprived us all.
I’ve been mediocre since the first Kindle Fire tablet sale… almost 10 years for me!
@jetedrow I had to go look up my first order on here. I know my first woot order when Matt still owned it was a case of Mickey Mouse band-aids.
On here it is this - and I actually still own it.
@jetedrow @mbersiam but do you still use it? THAT is the important question. LOL
@jetedrow @mbersiam @wifeduck My yogurt maker went to Goodwill but it entertained me briefly.

@Kidsandliz We just DID get a new one! I love it!
@JonT and his spooky mehrathon was awesome!
POPSOCKETS! SPA KITS! POLLY POCKETS! AWESOME!
@JonT @SillyScootScoot
I wanted the girl in the ref coat so bad.
@Kidsandliz

@SillyScootScoot You snagged ALL of those?!

Trackrs. The best things to ever exist…
Thanks to @dave I was briefly internet famous in a foreign country. Then back to obscurity.

What else can I say, MEH!

Let us not forget fidget spinners
@heartny Yes those made more than one of us neighborhood hits at halloween. And my college students were willing to
be bribedwork for them too.I’m not really sharing a memory because I can’t remember all of the details. Several years ago. Meh offered to sell an LED lantern (I think) and shipped Wi-Fi security cameras instead. Then they requested customers to ship the camera back. (I think) Someone refresh my memory please.

@narfcake @Stumpy91 I still have the lights, unopened
Those of you who were here at the beginning - how did you hear about it? I was pretty active on the original woot but didn’t hear about meh until it had been around for a few years.
@merichmond Deals.woot.
@merichmond @narfcake Ditto. Happen to see a post about it in the Woot! Forum in time to get in on the Kickstarter.
@heartny @merichmond @narfcake Kickstarter when I was looking for a startup company I could use as a case in the classroom that I thought the students would relate to/enjoy.
@merichmond I followed Snapster.
@narfcake oh man…deals.woot. good times back then. The wild west of deals, pop culture, and general debauchery. Fucking miss that place.
Wait, so july 8th 2014 was day 1? I missed it by a whole day!?
@TheStas No, technically Day Zero:
https://meh.com/forum/topics/day-zero-t-shirt
I still miss Pitney Bowels best shipping company ever. I don’t know why meh stopped using them.
I think I might still have a few orders coming from them from Meh…
@OnionSoup For a while, the thread here at meh was visited/commented by random folks griping about PB too.
I have 365 purchases, the first one being a speaker doc on August 8th, 2014.

I’ve bought 4 vacuums, 8 earbuds/headphones, 10 shirts, 12 tumblers/water bottles, 297 KIND bars, 301 beef sticks/bags of jerky and 390 fidget spinners.
Some of my favorite purchases include:

@carl669 also I’m still sending you a box. The con I vended at finished yesterday so there’s a little less crazy in my life. AND! The less murdery shed now has a concrete pad and will have walls and floors in a few weeks!
@sillyheathen I mean, you COULD send a box, but we’re moving this Saturday, so the person at our old place would be really confused
@carl669 methinks there is somehow nothing more meh than that! but I guess I should probably get your forwarding address… They might not appreciate the word fuck as much as you and I.
This!
@carl669 Do you remember the secret handshake?
@heartny of course! but I don’t have the Freddy Krueger sweater anymore
@carl669 @heartny Inam waiting for the day I can use it
@heartny @tinamarie1974 ten years and I have yet to use it
I don’t believe it has been 10 years.
Happy 10th, it’s been a long strange trip!
