So, we’ve seen that some people here make t-shirts, some people write, run blogs or let’s plays etc. I’m curious what other outlets for creative expressions you all have?
@placidpenguin@mfladd Hey, I’ve been good for three days. By the way, my XXL Bronco sweater came yesterday. I have to roll up the sleeves and it goes halfway down to my knees but it’s soft and warm and I’m going to wear the crap out of it this winter. At home anyway. $12 for a ridiculous amount of happiness.
I do some freelance writing for our local paper. I guess that’s my creative outlet. I have tried to be crafty but that never turns out well. I like messing around with basic video editing stuffs on youtube but I haven’t done anything with that in a few months. I like to come up with creative ways to annoy my husband. Does that count?
@Targaryen Eh, my videos are pretty bad. Most of them are compilations with my Toreba Crane Game wins. Right now I am annoying him by saying “Nani?” Whenever something weird happens around here which is quite often.
@medz I remember the Will one that was good. I should get into making some stuff I did all that fancy picture manipulation and gif learnin’ in school and all.
I used to write doggerel, mostly about dogs, as comments on the blogs I followed. Might explain my inability to stay away from haiku threads here.
I used to play a bard in the Simutronics MORPG Dragonrealms; there were no ‘melodies’ (it was text based) so the singing you had to do for practice and leveling was mostly just rhyming and keeping a good meter. Did a lot of that back then. Your own songs had no game effects but did gain you experience.
I do all sorts of random shit. For years it was my nails. Sadly, everything has taken a back seat to more important issues. I have a lot of craft stuff waiting for the day that I have time and feel motivated again. Including a certain fidget spinner plinko board. So sorry about that.
cross-stitch - I like to find a project and work on that…I’d like to make a quilt…I can design it and cut it out…sewing though is where i tend to “nope” out
@amehzinggrace I always forget about cross stitching. Good stuff. I love knitting too but I can’t do anything besides a basic knit stitch so I get bored of naking scarfs, hats and pretty meh blankets
I have very little time nowadays. Right now it’s spent writing goat posts. When I can, I write code for fun. Actually working on something now that hopefully @shawn will like enough to add to mehdown when I submit it.
Aside from that, I like to do stuff with meh faces, which I post once in a while.
@medz Nah, that would require 1 of 2 things probably.
I’d have to maintain a listing of goats, and remember to keep it update (spoiler alert, I have an alexa skill I made for meh with a goat feature, and I never update it)
Meh would have to have some kind of variable set up on their end, and maintain it when the goat changes. That’s not my call. I’d expect that if they had any desire to do it, it would have been done by now.
The command I submitted was for less smart people (me). It’s a /define command to look up a word. That way when I see some fancy word used here, and don’t know what it means, I can look it up.
@lichme Nah, just need to query who current goat is and plunk their name in. No need for historical listing as the forum would just store old posts as text. The /goat slash command would simply return the @ username of the current goat, so people didn’t have to remember who it was or know how to spell the name. The forum already “knows” who the current goat is (based on the goat badge), but I guess you’d have to query that from a database or something. (add it to the API json feed?)
Sculpting, painting, drawing, jewelry, stained and etched glass, mixed media work, role-playing games, creating the occasional board game. Just sold 24 pieces of art at Worldcon; bead jewelry, sculpted lost wax bronze and silver jewelry, hand built, sculpted and thrown ceramics, mixed media. Here’s a mixed media steampunk costume accessory I sold. I’m restless today because there’s a sculpture in my hands that wants out but I’m vacationing and can’t work.
None.
@jst1ofknd Why not?
@Targaryen
I don’t think I have a creative bone in my body.
Shopping.
@heartny How does that work?
@heartny That’s @sammydog01’s too!

@tnhillbillygal Nice. Anything interesting to share you’ve made? If not no big deal. What was your best annoyance to date?
@Targaryen Eh, my videos are pretty bad. Most of them are compilations with my Toreba Crane Game wins. Right now I am annoying him by saying “Nani?” Whenever something weird happens around here which is quite often.
/giphy Nani?
@tnhillbillygal Nice, so you’re up on the recent internet culture obviously.
@Targaryen Drives him nuts when I say something and then explain “Oh, it’s on the innernets.”
I used to make hilarious GIFs and photoshops, but I’ve been lacking inspiration lately.
@medz Anything to share?
@Targaryen
Oldies, but goodies.

I sleep.
@Barney I need more of this in my life.
@lichme I’m very good at it.
@Barney because lots of practice makes you good. Right? Hey @lichme you might want to try practicing.
not a one, sadly. Any ideas for me?
@moonhat Build cool things in Minecraft
@medz that would involve knowing what that is…
@moonhat Well, what kind of time, patience and funds do you have to put towards your new endeavor?
@Targaryen time, enough, patience, some and funds, none

@RiotDemon love it!!
@moonhat thank you!

@lichme Is it the /goat slash command you’re working on? If not, I blame:
/goat

@lichme Ok.

As far as the /define goes, can you not just use the /google for that?
/google immunity definition

@medz
As far as goat, it would be added to mehdown a slash command. This doesn’t allow for connections to meh database, as it’s publicly available.
API would work, but it would be probably not something worth doing for their devs.
Results would be something like this:
Sculpting, painting, drawing, jewelry, stained and etched glass, mixed media work, role-playing games, creating the occasional board game. Just sold 24 pieces of art at Worldcon; bead jewelry, sculpted lost wax bronze and silver jewelry, hand built, sculpted and thrown ceramics, mixed media. @moondrake interesting I really like this.
i write passages for the mehcronomicon.
@carl669 That poem was great!
Play guitar.

@eonfifty Aww… I wonder if we can start a bitchin’ video game band?
I’d say what my talent is, but then people would quickly figure out who I am.

I’m not going to embed the main video, or the one of him getting fired, but this guy CERTAINLY has a creative expression while doing an expression.
