CyberPower 150W Power Inverter with 2.1A USB Charger
- Plug it into your car’s lighter jack
- Plug things into its AC outlet, USB port, and pass-through DC outlet
- The USB port is the powerful/fast 2.1 amp kind
- Runs/charges laptops, tablets, phones, maybe some small handheld appliances and tools
- Model: CPS150CHURC1 (looks like CyberPower is as bad at model numbers as they are at naming their company)
Let's keep this vague.
We don’t want to tell you exactly what you can do with this power inverter. Its potential uses are so varied and specific that if we emphasize one or two, we’d inevitably exclude most of the rest of you (and your money). We’d rather keep it wide open. We’d rather just say “OMG outlets in yr car!!” and let each reader’s imagination take it from there.
But since electricity isn’t magic, we have to give you some idea of what this is, and what it can handle. It’s an adapter that plugs into the DC outlet (or “cigarette lighter”) of a car. It provides an AC outlet, a 2.1-amp USB port, and a pass-through DC outlet. You can run or charge things that require up to 150 watts and 120 volts. There. You’re all caught up. Now just click that button there so we can get pai-
Oh, you don’t know what that means in practice? OK, hmm… let’s just say, pretty much all portable electronics - tablets, laptops, phones - but only very small appliances and tools. Nothing that generates heat or moves a big motor, probably. Otherwise, you’re good.
We don’t want to get any more specific than that. If we follow the lead of @ugadogch and explain how these were perfect for putting Christmas lights on your car or golf cart, we chase away the 99.99% of you who will NEVER put Christmas lights on your car or golf cart. But you each probably have your own quirky use for these that 99.99% of the rest of you would never do.
Maybe you’re stuck in traffic so long your stubble is growing out and you want to go over it with an electric shaver. Maybe you want to run a little zen desk waterfall in your car. Maybe you’re selling a clock radio to somebody on Craigslist and when you go to meet them in the police station parking lot, they want to make sure it works.
Yes, we know those ideas are ridiculous. That was kind of our whole point. Everybody has some weird little idea of what they’d do with an electrical outlet in the car. Whatever yours is, you’ll find this power inverter useful enough to be worth eight bucks. At least, vaguely useful.
