Help lazy meh staffers with product selection
7Hello community. As I sit here looking at today's product, I think to myself, "if this was something completely different, I would totally buy it". It stands to reason, based on general kindergarten economic principles, meh would rather sell something that we want over something that we don't want. Sure- novelty, cost, availability, inappropriate relationship with the speaker dock wholesaler, etc all are taken into consideration... but here's the conversation that I would like to start: What should meh sell? Wouldn't it be great if some crazy item got a ridiculous amount of stars on the same day that some meh staffer come across that type of item? I know that wish list threads have been started before, and I don't know what makes this one different. Whether it is or not, let's help those overworked underpaid product sourcers do their job and list off some items that you would like sold.* Voting by stars will let the staffers know that it is a more popular item, or if you have a really stupid idea.
*Of course, just because the community does it doesn't mean that the staffers need to play along. For entertainment purposes only. Your mileage may vary. If you have an erection for longer than four hours, see a specialist.

Based on my purchase history, meh should sell...
.... More knives!!
Also, I would love to see more solar powered doohickeys (like that solar battery changer thing I got a while back, or other such things).. Maybe freeze dried food? Just a thought..
As you might be able to tell, I've been on a bit of a survivalist kick lately.. lol
@kadagan great ideas. how about breaking these out into different posts so they can be starred individually?
@marklog Solar powered doohickeys (like that solar battery changer thing I got a while back, or other such things)..
@marklog freeze dried food?
@kadagan .... More knives!!
@kadagan knivesandspeakerdocks.com
I'd like a couple more of the foscam indoor IP cameras.
@lisaviolet kinky, very kinky
I'd be down for more discounted kids stuff.
@RifterNova I too have kids.
@RifterNova My real reason for starring this was the knivesandspeakerdocks.com idea. I now perceive you as The Generator of Awesome Ideas. Don't let me down.
@christinewas ToyDinosaursandTrains.com Though seriously, after the Jurrasic World stuff hits liquidation phase I want some of that. Train stuff is usually universal so idk how many wholesale ideas come up with that. I've been looking for a balance bike deal forever but just went out and bought one finally. Frozen stuff should be getting to that dust on the shelf stage by now.
Large objects at very low prices. No preference as to the objects; however, they must be very large and very inexpensive. I would like to purchase most cubic space for lowest money. (taking advantage of that VMP shipping). Example: oh. an assembled couch for $8 with free shipping--sold.
@connorbush I can't do free shipping but I can think of some assembled couches that i could find to get to you. I'm not sure you'd want them though.
@sohmageek No, thank you though. Coincidentally, I really needed a couch for some time ('twas a dry spell)... THEN, two people offered me relatively new couches and I had to settle for only one. When it rains couches, it pours couches--it also hurts.
Second suggestion: More sin-related goods. Yes, I know it is possible to sin with any goods; however, more guns, booze, paraphernalia might just bring a tad more fun and danger to meh.
@connorbush I would be in for 3 (or more) of .22 LR ammunition. I have no problem purchasing 9 mm, or .223, but I have a hell of a time with obtaining .22
I've recommended a few things but I think I need to slow down on speaker docks... I almost have enough. I'm thinking more things like the neoprene... It seems the items that people always want are the Fuku/Fuko, but too many of them and A Meh may disappear and B quality deteriorates faster than milk left out on a Carrollton sidewalk in July.
@sohmageek I'm on board with more neoprene-esque items. I was able to put many/most of my sleeves to good use, and those things really fostered community. Plus, the mild absurdity of buying MORE sleeves for LESS money still makes me happy.
@sohmageek Maybe some neoprene sleeves for your speaker docks?
I'd be interested in a decent UPS, preferably 1500VA or higher.
@jqubed The problem with something that heavy will be that meh will lose a lot on shipping costs..
@kadagan I disagree. These are sold on eBay with free shipping all the time and I'm sure they make profits on them. What you need to do when selling heavy objects is to take shipping into account when preparing your retail pricing. You need to assume a certain percentage of people will be paying $5 for shipping and others will be free with VMP. Then you add the actual costs of shipping and minus the paid shipping to get your final selling price. I'm sure they have a similar formula like this for TV's and large monitors that obviously costs more than $5 to ship.
Since I actually have everything I need, I can use more consumables such as food products, toilet paper, trash bags, toothpaste, etc.
@cengland0 I second this. Coffee, jerkey, supplements, etc would be neat every now-and-again.
Chocolate
@cengland0
I wish I were, ever, able to read the word "chocolate" in a normal voice. Darn you brain-washing television.
I would like to see some of the survival food, the stuff labelled as having a 25 year shelf life. Probably get a good deal on any that's already 20 years old. "Still good for another 5...yes 5 years!" And in a probably unhealthy way I would buy it just to find out exactly what 20 year old Beef Stroganoff actually tastes like.
I like sets of drinking glasses, not ordinary glasses though, something that gives us a reason to use the glasses, rather than straight from the bottle.....
And bring back the snow cone maker! I missed it by like 2 minutes!
Round pizza boxes. For wrapping up christmas gifts
Purple speaker docks.
@Pavlov I love purple.
@Pavlov Jesus Christ Marie, they're minerals.
Food items like stuffed olives for martinis
A sewing machine. Small and cheap.
@AnnaB I'll second that. I need a new one. Also maybe some paper-cutting machines, maybe? Crafty hobbies ftw!!!
@koalamoo Yes, crafty hobby stuff.
i need a toy train set so i don't have to keep explaining to my 2.5 year old that his train set is broken and the train runs for no one. i tried playing metallica's 'for whom the bell' tolls for him but he didn't get it.
@carl669 RIP, Cliff.
Purple speaker do--wait, no.
AA shirts are good.
(Kitchen) knives might be cool.
I'm also sucker for things computer-y.
I might just get a second Roomba if one comes along at a good enough price, though.
(Also, I have poor enough impulse control to buy random sub-$10 things from this site.)
something good.....
moar speaker docks
moar neoprene
and some z-wave home automation devices.
@thismyusername I want Insteon controls myself. Smarthome prices are just too expensive.
Cheap electronic gadgets, speaker docks, headphones, and knives are getting old.
I second whoever previously requested household consumer items; everyone needs those and everyone looks for bargains on things they must buy every week. The Grime Boss wipes are a good example; they are something I would have never searched for or bought if they weren't a deal, but now that i tried them I would buy them again.
How about some good quality tools if you come across them? You know, like Makita, Dawalt, Greenlee, Fluke, Irwin, or Milwaukee...
Home beer or wine making kits. Cool kitchen gadgets and commercial grade cooking tools. More LED bulbs or crystal glassware. Gardening tools and supplies. Composters. Patio lights, tiki torches, solar sidewalk lighting. Fire pits, smokers, BBQ or cookout items for the summer months. Snow brooms/ ice melt/ heaters/ thick wool socks for the winter. Tasers. Upscale dinnerware. Interesting science related items like maybe telescopes. Art supplies. Good quality bedding. Solar panels. Professional quality anything at discount prices. Small home furnishings. Home canning items or food dehydrators. Leaf shredder. weedeater. Camping equipment. Car care kits like those Maguire sells with wax, rubbing compound. armor all, and other cleaning supplies all in one box. Stoneware baking dishes. Chamois. Magic erasers. Heavy duty metal pot scrubbing pads like commercial kitchens use. Home organization stuff like shelf liner/ closet organizers/ space bags. Hobby/ craft items. Electric candles. Bowls. Motorcycle accessories. Blankets. Hair dryers, curling irons, or makeup accessories for the ladies. Wine accessories. Anything American made.
@Steve7654 TL;DR
@TaRDy Yeah... steve didn't get it.
To those of you soft headed individuals that continue to put multiple items in the same post; Stop it. Put your ideas in seperate posts so some semblance of data can be collected.
@marklog If you think they are going to use this for something other than a cursory glance between agar.io sessions , then you sir are the soft headed individual. ;)
@thismyusername that's funny, because I wrote this during a break from agar.io! I think you're exactly right, especially if we don't make it abundantly clear that there is something to pay attention to.
@marklog Did anything from the last thread ever get sold? I don't recall anything specific making it from thread to front page sale
@bindo no idea, however my guess without a) combing through the thread or b) actually asking meh staff would say yes just by virtue of what people tend to ask for. that being said, it would be cool if we got a nice 'we heard you' from meh in the event that they used this data for their benefit. Companys typically have to beg for this type of feedback, but meh has successfully cultured a community that offers this type of stuff up. And UX testing. And real-time uptime monitoring. And sixteen other types of unsolicited feedback.
@thismyusername I and my employer hate you forever for introducing me to agar.io. (I want to have your children.)
@takenforgranite I, too, was ignorant of agar.io. Now the father of my children can blame this, too, on Meh. He tells me to go back inside and change when I climb into the car wearing both a Meh shirt and Meh socks with shorts and sandals.
Sell a real homebrew kit, not that bull shit Mr. Beer stuff.
Or good cookware
@Kevin this this this this this this this. "Dear Meh, please sell something that four of us are guaranteed to buy." A $50 refurb beergun, perhaps?
@marklog They could sell a lot for fathers day
@Kevin we should hook them up with homebrewing.org. I love those guys- and their local (to me).
@marklog @nigelf, work this out. Homebrewing.org and you guys should smash your genitals together.
A tablet that's not that laughable Oregon Scientific thingy from a while back, and not that "almost well equipped" off-brand one.
@ruouttaurmind Oh, and more drones. Drone.horse has lived for... what... maybe a month now? And there's like five of us that regularly visit. We need more drones to get the rest of you to drink the drone Kool Aid.
Ant farms.
Sea horses.
@eyewerks Livin' the dream...
Violet wands, with ALL the attachments.
Guns and ammunition.
Android specific speakers dock
I really need a new monitor. At least 27", HD, LCD backlit. I would totally buy that
@hippiechik You missed it. https://meh.com/deals/assorted-aoc-monitors--refurbished-
https://meh.com/deals/samsung-28-4k-monitor-refurbished
How about a kick-ass microwave oven for pennies on the dollar? (my old lady's been bugging me to visit sears for a month now, I say "what's wrong with our gas oven?")..
Kyocera knives, especially the paring knife. If Woot can get them, so can you.
A remote control helicopter that costs less than 10 bucks. I don't care how terrible it is, I've always wanted one and now that they're finally not 500 bucks a pop I'm perpetually broke.
ANYTHING that flies! Less IR (indoor) more 3.4 (indoor outdoor.
Real loudspeakers...no bluetooth...Bookshelf/Floor standing.
A lower priced decent vacuum cleaner
@margot This one was only $34. https://meh.com/deals/moneual-rydis-uv-c-vacuum-cleaner
@cengland0 I bought one of those and I think its great
neat personal transport thingies
Fewer knives...I've held off Armegeddon for at least 50 years. This way the price will go down to a reasonable level to allow people that just need a supply of food for a blizzard, hurricane, tornado (or big thunderstorms).
Some Meh shirts for fat people and/or people who don't like tight-fitting shirts would be nice. I'd especially love a black-on-black Meh shirt. Or gray-on-gray, since it's summer now and I don't think we'll see a sub-100º day in AZ for the next 4 months (also, gray is my favorite color to wear...sorry @Barney), and gray seems more "Meh." than black to me.
I'm not even that fat (seriously, some of the people I see at Walmart, etc. make me and my lineman-esque build look like a wide receiver), and I don't think I'd fit half of me into one of those AA shirts.
@Dweezle The largest AA shirt wasn't bad for me... I'm usually 2XLT but it'd be nice to get tall ones...
@sohmageek Definitely; the lack of talks on shirts here and at other sites is why I don't buy them...
I loved two for Tuesday tumbler cups and sippers. In fact, I'm about out.
Also, kids gadgets. I feel selfish when the box is always for me.
Meh brand speaker docks
@RedHot I'd buy!
How about a surround sound system? Two choices.. non-blu ray - blu ray (one cheap the other not quite as cheap).
@unkabob I'd love a Sound bar... Especially if it had a lightning connector or USB that charges in... I could move one of the speaker docks away from the TV then....
@sohmageek That'd work.
A Dyson laptop operated 5/8 automatic espresso machine! And some mediocre coffee to go with it
A maid. I'd love a maid.
@lisaviolet Irk as a domestic staffer. I see comedy gold there. :)
Household goods and appliances.
Gooseneck floor-stands for tablets/phones...
Craft hobbyist items (the aforementioned sewing machine, homebrew kits, etc. I'd personally like a canning system or candymaking supplies.)
And a roomba
@marnakangas You missed many opportunities already: https://meh.com/deals/irobot-roomba-790-1

@cengland0 thanks! I will just keep watching then :)
A USB 6or10 port charging station !!!!
I'd like one of those deals like when you buy a camping light and the Meh warehouse guy sends you a nice tablet or something first and then the camping light.
A decent YOYO
Meh-branded items. Also Mediocre-branded. LET ME PROVE MY DEVOTION TO YOU IN PUBLIC!!!! :)
A high end ufo looking KITE !!!
AUTOMATIC SOAP OR PAPERTOWEL DESPENSER
@mellowirishgent I DON'T KNOW WHAT WE'RE YELLING ABOUT!!
@MELLOWIRISHGENT @takenforgranite I BOUGHT THESE THE LAST TIME MEH HAD THEM AND PLAN ON MAKING AUTOMATIC KETCHUP AND MUSTARD DISPENSERS! Also, your username says that you're mellow but your CAPS CALL YOU A LIAR.
@mellowirishgent You missed the soap dispenser. Was only $5 for 2. https://meh.com/deals/2-for-tuesday---ewave-automatic-soap-dispenser
@takenforgranite , When someone yells its effects your ears , what body part is effected by me typing in caps , oh i get it now its a control issue im not complying to your wants and needs grow up lil guy your passive aggressive reply has no effect on me just IGNORE ......REPEAT AFTER ME IGNORE ,IGNORE, IGNORE, .
@cengland0 Thanks ill look for it next time
@takenforgranite Cant you just worry about what and how you type and not make azzclown comments about nothing at all really ..
@mellowirishgent lol, you're cute. I think I'll keep you.
@takenforgranite UTOH im in trouble now lol enjoy your weekend i love you 2 ...
@takenforgranite I dont let ppl. bait me however you did a great job and for that ...well done !!!
@mellowirishgent ;) /bow
Quality LED frisbee... In for 3.
A Meh-off.
BLUETOOTH RECIEVERS AND TRANSMITTERS
Meh should troll the USPS some day and sell a box filled with a big water balloon.
BUG ZAPPERS OR LANTERN CANDEL BUG REPELENTS
Wisps again. My last order was never received (No fault of Meh, but the post office who is no help so I am writing off the 8 bucks.)
A bare bones build your own PC kit would be really, really cool.
In looking at my orders, today marks a month of not buying making my VMP a complete loss on my part. This is because a LACK of good products, over priced products or sold out items because there is not near enough supply to meet the demand.
I know sell outs make you happy and that is great, but some of us can't stay up because we work. Seeing more speaker docks does not entice me to lose any sleep.
I am not whining, just realizing that the business model Meh has put in place does not match my spending habits.
Just make it fun again. Knives, Speaker docks and glasses are not fun and very easy to say no to and move on. I even paid for an IP camera that I didn't order and don't use to play fair. (I have not quite given up on it, just trying to ensure I can make work without worrying about some hacker spying on me)
Please, no speaker docks. The Speaker Dock Friday is old, tired and just another reason to quit watching.
@mdrcoast AND YET THEY CONTINUE TO SELL THEM
@marklog sorry, caps. I could have edited but #sorrynotsorry
Large capacity SSD drives like 960gb to 1TB. Samsung 850 EVO would be nice.
Mid-high grade kitchen knives. I have a few friends who could seriously use a new chef's or santoku knife...
@Thumperchick And not in sets! Long-term cooks buy their knives individually. I don't need another chef's knife, but a really good fillet knife would be awesome.
@madamehardy yes!
Production end stocks of interesting yarns in various colors.
@MSticklefeather I agree but then I couldn't stop myself from buying more yarn. Where am I going to put it all?
@MSticklefeather Dear Lord, then I'd just need to sign over my paycheck to Meh. Are you listening, Meh staff?
@metageist Nice to hear from other yarn people!
@MSticklefeather Hurrah! Similarly, fabric mill ends would be awesome. There are a lot of "maker" uses for fabric -- you don't have to be a quilter.
Meh bandanas.
@MSticklefeather with meh bananas for scale!
Graphic novel portraying top 14 Meh employees as superheroes in the 21st century retail jungle.
@MSticklefeather That would be awesome... As long as one of the top 14 is Irk. :) What powers could Irk have... heh
Comic book series portraying Meh customers/commenters as caged post-apocalyptic creatures to whom Meh employees must daily distribute pathetic crumbs of former cultures. The caged ones are kept below-ground only to provide raw materials for Meh's secret future experiments.
Leak Frogs.
French Press.
Moka Pot.
Roomba.
ATV.
A well made beach chair....
Door alarm ..with a 1 min. install
Air compressor ... for flats ofcourse
A single serve coffee maker
Small knife sharpener
Portable breathalyzer
High mAh portable charger in the 20,000 range
Label maker
Floor mats for the car
Temperature gun infrared
High end barber sizzors or electric shaver
HAHA keep in mind i bought all these items over the past cpl months on Ebay and Amazon ...Amazon prime looses money on me ...
Robot dogs
Magic Cards. :)
@sohmageek I have a few pain lands that I'll sell you for a reasonable price :)
I only want a speaker dock if its this one...
Buuuuut seriously though, I'd love to see MREs or survival food, that's usually something you can't get cheaply anymore. I'd also love to see some tactical or survival gear, also something you can't exactly procure cheaply.
Meh gear would rock, but mostly, it'd be nice to see more odd stuff that I wouldn't necessarily think about buying off the top of my head, just cool stuff, yknow? Also, goes without saying, more fukos. PLEEEEASE. :P
@polarbear84 no more fukos. those are evil. yes more fukUs
leak frogs, sansas, Reebok polos, $300 I7 laptops y'no stuff
Small, cheap stuff like the neoprene thingies. I felt like Lady Bountiful handing them out to family and friends.
Batteries
1000 Faces Coffee Beans. Haven't seen this on Woot in years. Always bought some when offered. Shipped the day after roasting.
@Mehrocco_Mole Any good coffee. Used to by Thanksgiving coffee from there myself. But yeah, REAL REAL COFFEE!!!
@Mehrocco_Mole I want K Cups! haha.. I'm not even picky about the type as long as they're fully caffeinated coffee! I usually buy whatever I can find cheapest on amazon.
Blu Ray players and/or recorders, home & computers.
themed dvd/bluray movie bundles or box sets
This http://www.woot.com/offers/pebble-smartwach-for-iphone-or-android?ref=cnt_dly_wobtn but [way] cheaper.
Disc Golf Items anyone? discs, baskets, bags
@jaybird discs and bags!!!!!
A Meh gift card. Just think about all the possibilities.
@dschaus13 Good... but would it then have crappy items untill the gift card expired... Although depending on the "gift card" there are laws in certain states about them... Where as a gift certificate wouldn't have as many state laws from what I've seen. Not that there is much difference between the 2 other than electronic tracking of a amount or getting cash back/losing the remaining balance with a gift certificate.
Swords, decent ones, not stainless wall hangers
Foodie food, unusual food items that people put out there to hook us to their products, socks, speaker docks for android (lol, had to say it)
Powerful laser pointers.
Giant floppy dildos
@The_Baron ha.
Graphics tablets -- the kind you draw on.
Batteries that don't leak, camping gear.
Dear Meh,
I just re-upped VMP with the fuku. The trouble I've had maintaining VMP past one-month is that my house is fully stocked on knives, speaker docks, travel mugs and other kitchenware, late night tv offerings, vacuums, headphones, coffee/juice makers, dog toys, speakers, pillows and blankets, and flying copter toys... I'd love to maintain my VMP status, but can't justify it without a purchase a month. So, a couple unsolicited suggestions:
Assortments of random stickers (with one white on black meh sticker!)
Assortment of random t-shirts, or just random shirts of all types by size
Camping gear, sporting gear
Beer making, wine making, cheese making kits
Food and drink
Neoprene baths and the like
@Mehntok 2nd "Camping gear, sporting gear
Beer making, wine making, cheese making kits
Food and drink"
@Mehntok One star to you for the gif!
Programmable thermostats.
