Goatertainment - a recap, plus puzzle answers!
14Hey ducklings! Remember how back in June I was your goat? And how I tried to post something goatertaining every day? Well, I failed, but I tried. Here’s a recap.
https://meh.com/forum/topics/drinking-terrible----the-campfire-girl----featuring-a-sleepy-goat
I hadn’t thought of calling the series “Goatertainment” on June 1st. What a darn shame!
https://meh.com/forum/topics/june-2nd-goat-ertainment---a-puzzle
The initials I was looking for were LMB for Lloyd Millard Bentsen, the vice presidential candidate on the losing team in 1988. Lots of people figured this one out!

The pictures that would go in the ??? box would be an outline of the state of Texas and/or a Texan star, because these images are what you find on the backs of some 2003-2004 state quarters along with Arkansas (diamond), Michigan (great lakes), Florida (space shuttle, Spanish galleon) and Iowa (schoolhouse): https://www.usmint.gov/learn/coin-medal-programs/50-state-quarters Some people got this one, but it was a toughie.
https://meh.com/forum/topics/june-4th---goatertainment---musical-interlude
No puzzle, just music.
https://meh.com/forum/topics/june-5th---goatertainment---a-third-puzzle
Elijah ∞
Enoch ∞
Methuselah 969
Noah 950
Adam 930
Isaac 180
Abraham 175
Moses 120
Good job! Nobody got tricked into saying “Elisha”… how embarrassing would that have been?!?!
https://meh.com/forum/topics/june-6---goatertainment---a-tale
No puzzle, just a fable. (This is part of a small collection of fairy tales you can find on Amazon, by the way. My friend Amy was the editor, and I think she let me into it as an act of charity. A couple of the stories are really great: https://www.amazon.com/Fairy-Tale-Factory-Unhappy-Endings/dp/0984768807 )
https://meh.com/forum/topics/june-7th---goatertainment---doritotoro
No puzzles, just a perversion of Miyazaki’s hard work and creativity.
https://meh.com/forum/topics/june-8th---goatertainment---an-irky-puzzle
If you complete the puzzle, it looks like this: https://imgur.com/a/Yh5XAsX
If you assemble the bit.do address, it leads you to the work of @revloki here: https://meh.com/forum/topics/fuku-fuko-every-sunday-in-june#556f289096b1f52009505feb
https://meh.com/forum/topics/june-9th---goatertainment---pudding
No puzzles, just puddin.
https://meh.com/forum/topics/june-12---goatertainment---terran-vs-zerg
No puzzles, just zerglings.
https://meh.com/forum/topics/june-16---goatertainment---story-time
No puzzles, just stories.
https://meh.com/forum/topics/june-17---goatertainment---a-cartoon
No puzzles, just…something?
https://meh.com/forum/topics/june-18---goatertainment---tricky-puzzle-time
This is where the rubber really hit the road. Look at each green arrow…where do they start, and where do they go?
They start at:
Madison Square Garden in NYC
Xcel Energy Center in St Paul
Tampa Bay Times Forum in Tampa
Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland
Where are the arrows going? If you follow them across the globe, you get to Mecca. So…any Muslims attending the GOP national convention in 2004, 2008, 2012 and 2016 would have wanted to know which direction they should face for daily prayers, and these arrows would have been pretty handy. This puzzle is a stumper – congrats to those who burrowed their way into its sticky core.

These games hold the record for the most and fewest first downs.

France, Italy, Austria and the UK have different names for the card suits.
France: Hearts/Bells/Leaves
Italy: Cups/Coins/Swords
Austria: Roses/Bells/Shields
UK: Hearts/Diamonds/Spades
…except this is wrong. When I wrote the puzzle a few years ago, I mistakenly thought that in France they use Bells for Diamonds. But they don’t…they use Diamonds or Tiles. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suit_(cards) I was trying to make this harder than it should be. (Story of my life, lulz.) And even the title of the puzzle is stupid… card suits aren’t pronounced like “sweet”… ugh. So this puzzle is bad, I am bad and I feel bad. But a few people figured out what I was talking about anyway, so kudos to you!
https://meh.com/forum/topics/june-21---goatertainment---silver-bells
No puzzle, just chimes.
https://meh.com/forum/topics/june-25---goatertainment---trivia-time
- Knots Landing was a spinoff of Dallas. (May heaven take pity on you if you knew this.)
- The three movies that starred these three gents: Casablanca, The Maltese Falcon… and some thing called Passage to Marseille.
- Visit Milan if you want to see The Last Supper, cuz it’s a mural and it’s never leaving town.
- Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Kiribati and Kenya come to mind. (Kurdistan isn’t a country…yet. Kosovo is a grey area, recognized by a slight majority of UN nations and a wide majority of NATO and EU nations.)
- Incubus was performed entirely in Esperanto. It’s not a very good movie.
- Maybe you’d think, “Well, Antarctica can’t have any tall mountains, can it?” But it does! It has the Vinson Massif, a pretty-tall 16000 footer. So Australia wins the prize for Mt. Kosciuszko at 7,310 feet tall. (Hilariously, Antarctica also has a Mt. Kosciuszko, which at 9,550 feet tall outdoes Australia’s Mt. Kosciuszko and ISN’T EVEN ANTARCTICA’S TALLEST MOUNTAIN. Jeez, what a sick burn.)
So… the answer is Australia. - Sleepy, Sneezy, Grumpy, Doc, Dopey, Bashful and… Pervy? No, uh… Happy! That’s it.
- 1978 – first Police album and first Unabomber explosion, among other events.
- Robert Mitchum has LOVE and HATE tattooed on his knuckles in the amazing “Night of the Hunter”, which you should see immediately.
- Psalms has the most chapters of any book in the Bible: 150 of 'em.
So there you have it! I put off assembling all this because I knew it was gonna take a while and I’m a lazy-bone-no-good-under-the-porch sad excuse for a hound dog.
I originally wrote a lot of these questions and puzzles back when I used to hang out on
. I’ll never get those hours back, but at least I got some fun puzzles. I wrote the trivia questions back when I used to host bar trivia at the Hopvine on 15th here in Seattle. Thanks to everyone who played, commented or blamed:

@therealjrn the answer is always 42!
Mecca! Congrats to those who got that one. If only I’d had a globe.
Really fun month, thanks for the challenges and goatertainment.
Bet you could have an emeritus goat badge if you write to CS - seems a few of us are sticking with VMP.
Thanks for the mehmories.
Oh, hey! I love the Muslim republican twist. I knew I admired your wit.
@kdemo my wit is available for bar and bat mitzvahs!
@UncleVinny - And don’t forget to tip your server.
Thanks for the answers! I got a couple, got stuck thinking NHL instead of GOP, others fried my brain… Nice job, you worked your ass off!!
@llangley oh friend…my ass is still everpresent
@llangley “in full effect”, as Flava Flav used to say.
