June 3rd - Goat-ertainment - another puzzle!
10My goat-goal this month is to post something interesting every day of my goat-dom.
Today I have another puzzle for you! Here are the rules:
- I don’t care if you break the rules.
- Send me guesses via whisper, so other people get a chance to figure it out.
- There is no prize.
- Did I mention there’s no prize? Well, there’s no prize.
- It may take me a little while to reply to your whisper, so don’t freak out.
- I might post hints in the comments.
- Feel free to discuss in the comments, but try to avoid spoilers if you can. If you definitely don’t want spoilers, don’t look at the comments.
Now, here’s the puzzle! There are five boxes below that represent the middle of a long sequence; you probably see elements of this sequence frequently, but might not think about it.
What pictures might go in the box with the ???, and why? Whisper me your answer!

Note: the image is kinda small… if you right-click and open in another tab, it’ll be easier to see.
It’s ok, I solved it. Sorry everybody.
@therealjrn Hints?
Hint: the whole series has more than ten but less than 100 entries. (I’m a lazy puzzle writer, so I only showed you a few.)
WTF?
I need more coffee…
1 - diamond , gemstone, facets
2 - map, Michigan, great lakes
3 - brig, schooner, space shuttle
I have a question regarding the third image: should the names of the vehicles be legible in their pictures? Do the names matter?
4 - three question marks
Another question: do three question marks mean there should be the images there?
5 - chapel, cottage, stone
If there are more than 10 and less than 100 images in the series, one is to solve 20% of potentially 5% of the entire sequence - does math matter?
If this is a small piece of a larger series, where in the series is this segment? There must be a possible image before the diamond, or after the stone building, or both before and after. Would it be helpful for one to guess these images too?
/image this is fun
Also, if this is a repeating series, it could depict a basic product economy.
An example of what could come before the diamond is a map of diamond mine locations, an animal powered wagon and a tall ship, and raw diamond ore.
/image this is still fun
@eonfifty hi! The names of the particular vehicles don’t matter – though it does need to be a space shuttle, not a jetliner. The series isn’t repeating. You just need to figure out what picture would go where the ??? are. I might tell y’all later where in the series this section happens. (But I chose this particular spot with @f00l in mind.)
@eonfifty @f00l Oh… and the building in the last image is not a chapel.
@eonfifty @f00l @UncleVinny A school?
@cinoclav @eonfifty @f00l mmmmmmmaybe!
Another hint: just a reminder that the pictures you see above should look vaguely familar. Not exactly familiar, because my clip art job is purposefully approximate.
@UncleVinny - Got it! Yay me!
How many have figured it out so far?
@kdemo congrats, you’re the very first!
@UncleVinny
Ok, we still have only one smartypants who got it so far, so it’s time for another hint. To the left of the diamond, I would have put a square with this in it: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gateway_Arch#/media/File%3ASt_Louis_night_expblend_cropped.jpg
@UncleVinny
These sorts of puzzles are not entirely my forte, but I just wanted to let you know I appreciate it anyway. Looking forward to whatever else this month brings.
I genuinely like puzzles but this one is just plain frustrating. We need some sort of better hint as to how to look at these or what kind of sequence it’s supposed to be.
Hey goat, your puzzles suck too much. I blame you.
@therealjrn - Consider - it may not be the goat or the puzzle that sucks?
Last hint: check your pockets!
@UncleVinny Lint? I should have known that one!
@UncleVinny Empty, just like my current answer.
So, are you going to give us the answer now?
@Coldrice This @unclevinny puzzle master prefers to keep his answers secret.
Blame the goat
@therealjrn @UncleVinny =[
My first guess was icons.
It was wrong.
Got it. Great clues.
