Was the timing of the side sale during the holiday a factor? Perhaps. I know I was budget constrained.

@narfcake I just read the writeup of the dragon recycle shirt. Pretty funny:

• Always recycle steel, bronze, and tin armor. However, splint mail, hide armor, and studded leather armor should NOT be placed in recycling bins. A useful mnemonic device: "If it's shiny, recycle it, spiny! If it's brown, burn it down."
• Please separate your humans into their appropriate bins. These are: Hair, skin, bones, organs, and gunk. Remember: Gunk is mostly red, and organs are gross looking. Teeth and bones can go in the same bin.
• Human garbage collection is once every two weeks. If your bin begins to smell, scorch it with your fire breath. This should halt any decomposition that may be occurring.

@narfcake - Enjoying the shirt art this month, but it leaves me wondering . . .do you really change shirts six times in a day? Maybe you need to feed your dog saltines. ;-)

I've given up trying to figure out why and just let it go on the notion that it's the one thing she enjoys. I never found out what happened with Nyom Cat; it's buried somewhere in the yard, I presume. Seeing how I've yet to find a single TT shirt in a thrift store (and there's over 400k of them), it's a bigger ouch versus if it was one of the Woot or TeeFury shirts I've acquired for $2 or less.

@dashcloud Heh! - though nope, can't say I've bought from them. It's probably a good thing I don't know about the many millions and millions of shirts in existence anyways. :)

@narfcake I didn't know Threadless had stopped using AA, so guess that shows how long it's been since I've bought something from them. There are a few designs I'd thought I'd buy if they reprint, so wondering what you can tell me about the issues with current shirts. Are they bad enough to avoid?

@gio The current ones are made by (drumroll, please ...) Anvil! The difference over what Woot uses is that they're custom made for Threadless, and from personal experience (for guys), they seem to hold up. The neckline is tight (even on ones I don't throw in the dryer) and shrinkage is reasonable (on ones which I do or were purchased used) - a bit more than AA or NLA, but not horrible like the neckstretch or mutant ones at Woot. They're using some Bella+Canvas sourced blanks too; made in USA, but they tend to have a looser neckline. The ones before that were horrible (Bella+Canvas, mostly made in India), the ones prior were okay (unknown supplier/made in Mexico), and the ones before that lacked durability (unknown supplier/made in Bangladesh). AA was intermixed here and there during the time too. 2009 and earlier, it was either AA or Fruit of the Loom (aka cardboard in disguise).

For me, the various supplier/varying fit was a turnoff and turned me towards shirt.woot. I was much quieter then than I am these days, though.

@narfcake Thanks for all the detail! I thought all of the Threadless shirts I bought were AA, but since they were gifts maybe I just wasn't paying close enough attention after the first couple I bought. Tight necks are a problem since the giftee (men's shirts) has a very large head, but I wasn't told about any problems with fit. Guess I should ask some follow-up questions.

@gio When were these purchased? If they were in the past 2 years, they were most likely Anvil (usually made in Nicaragua) or Bella+Canvas (made in USA) with a cyan banding (tape) over the shoulder/neck seams.

@narfcake Gosh I'm bad at guesstimating these things...time flies when you get old. The last order on my account was 2012 but I can think of at least one I bought since then (and some from before what is listed) so maybe I bought without logging in? The last one I remember buying was I'd guess it was probably in 2013. That shirt is still worn quite often and seems fine, but now I'm curious and will have to ask about fit and what it says on label.

@narfcake Follow-Up: This weekend I literally collared the giftee, who happened to be wearing the above shirt. It is still soft and in good shape (no noticeable shrinking or stretching). The printed tag says it's a cotton blend (forget percentage but this is normal with heather grey) and that it was made in the U.S, but no cyan banding. From what you say, I guess I was lucky with this purchase.

@gio Post crappy blanks, so yeah. The Canvas 3001u are alright; the neckline is a bit looser than AA but the shirt holds up otherwise.

That's in contrast with the regular 3001 blanks, which are sourced from a number of different countries including Egypt, Kenya, India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. With limited experience, I'm not a fan of these. I'd go with an armpit pinching Anvil over these any day; at least they can be washed without twisting out of shape or mimicking swiss cheese.

I was NOT disappointed in the amount of finger pointing in the past month, as the majority of it was in humor -- and that's how it should be. Life can be so serious at times, so to be able to lighten some load here is all fine and dandy.
