Cinoclav's Field of 32 Day 13
12
I tried. I really, really tried. I just wanted it to be a fair fight. In the end, the PopSocket faithful let me down. All that love for those damn things obviously turned one of our faithful users evil. You know what they say, “Winners never cheat and cheaters never win.” In the end, they lost with the Fidget Spinners doubling up on the (legitimate) PopSocket voters, 30 to 15.
Now for a nice relaxing Saturday. Plenty of time to dwell on the significance of AA & AAA Batteries as they take on Backpacks/Laptop Bags. We’ve seen numerous brands of batteries here. Some have an amazing ability to leak at the worst times but others were surprisingly good. A few were rechargeable while others arrived with no charge at all. We have a love/hate relationship with them and we keep buying them. Hell, @shahnm has made them one of our longest running jokes. On the other line, we’re carrying some baggage. You may be wondering why I grouped those two similar but uniquely different bags together. Let me explain my reasoning in great detail with numerous facts and graphs. Or not. I did it because I wanted to and you’re stuck with it. They’re bags… they carry things… they belong together. By the way, little personal fact here. Those Rayovacs in the red packaging are the very first item I bought from meh. They hold a special place in my heart. Kind of like Iron Man’s Arc Reactor. They’re keeping me alive and I’m running out of them. Would you guys sell some more? Quickly? Please? Now go vote and hopefully I’ll still have enough juice left to make it to Day 14.

AA & AAA Batteries!
Backpacks/Laptop Bags!
I had the batteries in my published bracket, and so I will vote for them here, but in retrospect I prefer the bags.
After the pop socket scandal and the near complete collapse of my bracket, any further damage will not bother me.
Go whichever!
SOCKET POPPIT STAHPIT
@mediocrebot cork it!
@mediocrebot Every time I see that response, it makes me think of Charles Mingus, which is never a bad thing…
“Don’t let 'em drop it. Stop it. Bebop it.”
(at ~0:55, if you can’t bear to listen to a minute of some fine jazz/blues)
Pop socket.
HOT POCKETS
@mediocrebot Stahpit. Bebop it. Just don’t drop it.
I know I’m gonna lose, but I love the stuffing out of my Thule backpack and I can buy crap batteries anywhere.
@UncleVinny One of the things I really hoped for in doing this is more comments like yours. I want to know people’s reasoning for what they voted for. I don’t need details, just a little bit of why.
@cinoclav doing my part to overshare in the forums since November 16th, 2016!
@cinoclav @UncleVinny I can always use more batteries; I can really only use 1 or 2 backpacks/laptop bags.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@cinoclav @DennisG2014 can you, DennisG? CAN YOU? Because now that I have a handful of rechargeables, I’m pretty much set for the apocalypse…well, any apocalypse where city power stays on. Hmmmmm…
Meanwhile, did I mention how much I looooove my Thule backpack? We’re getting married next week!
@cinoclav @UncleVinny Well, I can appreciate your love for your backpack, and I certainly don’t love batteries (although, some of the things they power… ), but maybe you and I are using different criteria for voting…
My criteria is, if I had to choose one of the items to buy, which would I buy?
I’m guessing that’s not your criteria, because that would mean you would buy another backpack, and that would be cheating on your beloved, you cad!
@cinoclav @DennisG2014 tBH, I’m not sure what my criteria are…
@cinoclav @UncleVinny
Damn, too late to edit & change my post to “criterion”.
Good usage. +1 internets.
Whoa…I just checked my orders and I’ve purchased “Backpacks/Laptop Bags” 6 times compared with just 1 time for “AA & AAA Batteries”
Some of the backpacks were for my grandchildren like those Igloo Yew Stuff Pop Lights Backpacks and one was for my daughter (Solo NY Mercer Briefcase).
I use the bag I got in my Backpack, Flashlight, And Confectionery Accessories Bundle quite a bit. I’ll admit I bought the Hemp Back-Pachyderm on a whim though.
The Energizer EcoAdvanced AA Batteries I bought are crap. At least they didn’t leak!
@therealjrn When I look at the batteries sold it makes me realize why I haven’t ordered more of them. I try to stay away from off brands. But I haven’t ordered any packs or bags at all. I’d actually have a tough time deciding if I was voting. Batteries are generally more useful to me but the bags seem like a smarter buy if needed.
I first clicked the batteries, but then remembered my beloved Solo and Enderson bags. Bags for the win!

/giphy You talkin’ to me?
Huh, buddy?
If so, in my defense re voting for both, I proclaimed that, if forced to choose over one item, what the choice would be.
Also operating on extreme lack of sleep at that moment.
Lack of sleep does render me evil sometimes.
@f00l Nope, definitely not directed at you.
@cinoclav
Damn.
@cinoclav @f00l I know, right? It can’t ALWAYS be all about you, @f00l…
@cinoclav @therealjrn
/giphy Fuck that.
@cinoclav What do you mean, “joke”??
@shahnm I don’t have the time to find it at the moment but you did mention that you don’t actually care about the batteries. Regardless, the whole fridge thing is super entertaining.
@cinoclav @shahnm WHAT DO YOU MEAN “DON’T CARE ABOUT THE BATTERIES”???
PROPER BATTERY HYGIENE IS VERY IMPORTANT MISTER.
@cinoclav @therealjrn Sometimes my less-evil twin hijacks my account and posts things that are unconscionable. This has been addressed, at least for the moment. And most importantly, my precious, precious batteries are safe and sound in my stalwart fridge…
I hate the current crop of (non-rechargeable) batteries - they were crap in the 60’s and 70’s, leaking and ruining my electronics and flashlights, then they got better for a while in the 80’s and 90’s, leading me into complacency. Now they seem to be back to leaky, crappy quality again. I do like my Yukon Tactical backpack, though. (Neither were purchased from meh.)
@shahmn YOU ARE DISLOYAL to all your batteries in your fridge - you voted for both batteries and backpacks. You may end up being attacked in your sleep by your batteries. I’d suggest you sleep with one eye open. Your batteries have POWER!
@Kidsandliz See above. Or see below, through the magic of copy/paste…

Uh oh. The bags are pulling away!
@cinoclav if batteries go down, I’ll have lost 3 of my final 4 picks.
Yay, me!
@stolicat Remind me to ask you your pick for the Superbowl so I know who else to pick.
@cinoclav Quick! Tighten the straps!
