The New York Times took a break from their torrent of fake news recently …
That, right there, convinced me not to buy anything today. WTF?
If this is a site run by right wing Trump supporters I would really prefer not to spend any more money here.
Ok, my current Solo Bag is becoming a bit beat up. Yes, I am one of those losers that needs to carry a briefcase daily. I am on the fence here because of Xmas money considerations. Ugh…
@mfladd Did you buy one? I bought one. I had to take my papers out of the binders to use that other one I bought here. Hopefully it makes me happier than a thirty dollar MorningSave random box, right?
Who uses an external mouse, and an Apple mouse at that? It is not nearly big enough for us Windows Laptop uses, unless you buy a second bag for the power.
@hchavers My gaming laptop is suppose to be “17.5” and fit in 17.5 bags but it’s also thick so most standard 17.5 bags don’t fit or if it does it’s a tight fit not leaving any room for the power cords and other accessories.
I ended up just buying a hiking backpack gives more then enough space for all plus having two straps is better then carrying all the weight on one side it’s even on both.
This bag is not the colors as described on the Solo website. By Steven Perry on July 7, 2017
Color: Blue|Verified Purchase Hello,
I had high hopes for this bag but after receiving it I discovered that
it is NOT blue on brown as reflected on their website. (See attached
pic.) The colors are black leather on an extemely dark blue. If you
are not in direct light, the bag looks all black. Sadly the design is
good but the bag itself does not match the description on amazon or
the Solo website.
Can anyone at meh speak on this? If the guy from “journey” is saying this, I would like to know more.
“File” compartment? How often does anyone carry actual printed files around anymore, day-to-day? “There goes Costanza again, lugging his shoulder briefcase. I hear he’s putting in crazy hours on the Johnson file.”
A pic of it would be nice of it open and unzipped, to get an idea how a sane/light/travel-friendly laptop (13" or so) might fare in a place for a 15.6" one.
However, I think that if I’m going to get something to haul around while traveling, I would much prefer a backpack if it’s for all non-clothing items, like all the electronics along with 17 different charging cables, power bricks, and battery packs.
Ultimately though, if I’m traveling, in this day and age of the modern airline, where each bag, suitcase, strap and ounce costs extra, I’d rather go for something “all-in-one” that I can carry on. Something like the Pakt One, which maybe, MEH-be, someone might get a hookup to get a deal on around here? winkwinknudgenudgehinthint. Ok, maybe after it actually ships and such.
@therealjrn I also need something this size for daily business. I like my current Solo, but this one IS snazzier (did you really use the word snazzier…lol)
@mflassy The better question is:
/8ball Is @narfcake lying down?
As I see it, yes
/8ball Is he wearing a catshirt?
Very doubtful
/8ball Is that correct?
Don’t count on it
@sligett Hahaha…no… Ice tea. But I didn’t see your comments on my phone until late last night (couldn’t sleep). Then I was noticing as I scrolled that I kept seeing different gifs for the same comment. What the hell? You were freaking me out! (that was unexpected from you
I rarely comment here but just have to say that the bag being offered is the ugliest piece of luggage I have seen since 1974! Is anyone buying this thing?? I apologize in advance.
Since no one else has jumped in with mediocre travel advice yet, here’s my tip:
If flying Southwest alone, and the flight isn’t completely booked, you have fairly decent odds of securing an entire row to yourself near the front of the plane if you choose the aisle seat in a row without a window. (Usually either row 7 or 9 or 10 depending on the aircraft)
If successful, then raise the armrests once you’re in the air, and stretch out (relatively speaking) for a nice nap.
Pockets man, fuck pockets. My life is shit right now because of people and their god damn pockets. Without pockets everyone would be forced to compare everyone fairly, not “well it’s my family so it’s ok for them to be deplorable” bullshit.
I gotta take issue with the “don’t check in if you have crap seat” advice. It’s clever, but if your flight is oversold you may just get yourself involuntarily bumped. Use with caution.
Save on checked baggage costs. Some airlines will check your bag for free if you bring it to the gate. Just have to obey the size limits and liquid rules to get it through security.
Check out skiplagged.com. You can book one-way tickets through hidden cities to save on flight costs. A flight from PHL to LAX may be $300. But, a flight from PHL to SEA that connects through LAX might be $200. You just get off in LAX and skip the connecting flight. Make sure to book one-way flights and carry-on your bag.
Seatguru.com has seat maps for just about every airline/airplane. It shows you good and bad seats on flights.
Don’t rely on chance. Pay for TSA Pre-Check, the lines are much shorter, and you can leave on your shoes and jacket. Laptop (sometimes) and liquids stay in your bag.
Most flight attendants will be happy to give you the whole can of soda/juice instead of just a cup if you ask nicely.
@Pantheist They definitely used to do it, but I haven’t flown United in a while. The best time to get it is when the flight is really full. If you’re boarding in a late zone, you may have trouble finding a spot for your bag. A lot of times they’ll announce over the speaker “our flight is very full, if anyone would like to gate-check their bags please see the podium”. But, I’ve gotten it for free by just asking.
Based solely on pragmatic reasons, I don’t know why anyone would travel with a briefcase over a backpack. Everything from weight distribution to volume flexibility to pocket availability is going to be better with a good backpack of comparable weight/size.
I suppose there are those who prefer the professional look of a good briefcase/attache case, but ones like this (cotton/vinyl, two-tone) look more like a cheap college pack to me than a nice leather piece I’d associate with a person in a profession that needs actual printed copies of documents (lawyers, accountants, etc.).
If you’ve never traveled with a high-quality backpack made especially for that purpose, drop a little coin on an OGIO or Osprey during a sale and thank me afterward. Bonus: no carry-on strap needed! Just cross the shoulder straps/snap the chest clasp around the extended handle of your roller.
@sammydog01 What do you think of the bag? I like it. It would be nice to have one more divider for work. I can see what the reviewer was talking about in the color. It depends on the light. Earlier, it was definitely brown/blue. Looking at it right now it does look all black. I don’t mind the chameleon effect.
@mfladd I like it- the color is fine by me. I have some papers that I need to carry sometimes- I bought that other one that came bundled with a smaller case. I had to take papers out of binders to use it, so this one is better.
Plus I can throw my laptop or tablet in it and it should be pretty safe.
Mine looks purple and black. Very little like the blue and brown shown in every single available picture of this. I’m pretty disappointed. I guess that’s why you don’t buy from places with a no-refund policy, even if you “like their personality”.

@Steve7654 can’t tell if you’re being serious, good job.
@Steve7654 you can send your tax refund to me.
@nall256 I am very serious.
/giphy preemptive outrage
@Steve7654 Mehbe they’re left wing Trump supporters. You ever think about that?
@hchavers Is that the new euphemism for “postcard”?
@Steve7654 it’s a funny line! Funny overrules politics (notice how I chose ‘overrules’ Instead of the other term?)
@Steve7654 I would like to keep trolling you, but the “truth” is that my tongue was in my cheek.
@skemmehs Don’t lie to the poor man. Meh runs a business after all. This is nothing more but a hive of scum and capitalism.
@DrunkCat You forgot villainy.
@therealjrn Why would I be redundant.
@DrunkCat To ensure understanding, to be clear or to reach consensus.
@Steve7654
From one of those “crazy right wingers”. This about saving money not about a government handout so shut up and spend some money
Night fell as jimmies gently rustled in the distance.

@mfladd Did you buy one? I bought one. I had to take my papers out of the binders to use that other one I bought here. Hopefully it makes me happier than a thirty dollar MorningSave random box, right?
@sammydog01
Yes he did.
@sligett (see below)
@sammydog01 I did. I figured the money I saved on the CRAP box allowed me to have this.
@mfladd Hmmm- maybe the whole Morningsave thing was a ploy to get us to buy the first under thirty dollar offering and call it saving money.
Really? No pic of the interior when unzipped?
@cblack This is a family site, pal!
Who uses an external mouse, and an Apple mouse at that? It is not nearly big enough for us Windows Laptop uses, unless you buy a second bag for the power.
Wait, Windows is still a thing?

Meh, If they had offered a 17.5" then I might’ve purchased
@AiraCobra That’s what she said.

@HugoDahl Earlier today, I was down at the courthouse carrying files and papers. I had a portfolio, but this bag looks to be snazzier.
@therealjrn I also need something this size for daily business. I like my current Solo, but this one IS snazzier (did you really use the word snazzier…lol)

@mflassy Sneaky. Good thing I don’t use any of Amazon’s listening devices.

@mfladd I couldn’t sleep either. So I cut and pasted my comment and let /giphy do the rest. I left each with the first result from /giphy.
In my sleepless state, I wondered what could a /xkcd command do?

Been thinking about a new daily case since the shoulder strap failed on my Dell. This should fill-in nicely.
Travel Tips:
@jsh139 1 sounds really handy, especially since checked bags are last in first out. Happen to know if it applies to united?
@Pantheist They definitely used to do it, but I haven’t flown United in a while. The best time to get it is when the flight is really full. I’ll spend the extra $10 bucks at amazon to NOT HAVE TO BUY NAVY BLUE… yech.
@perpetuity $10? Looks closer to $20 to me.
Judging from the 3rd picture, this looks like an excellent briefcase for me to carry my iPhone 4s.
it’s a purse.

@sammydog01 I don’t know what they were thinking about the pens pockets. Unless you have a cross pen or a school pencil it’s not fitting.
@mfladd I found a Bic stick to put in there. Maybe that’s why Meh got them? I like the side things to keep your papers from falling out.
Mine looks purple and black. Very little like the blue and brown shown in every single available picture of this. I’m pretty disappointed. I guess that’s why you don’t buy from places with a no-refund policy, even if you “like their personality”.
@3Phen I Purple.
@3Phen Try it in natural light. Mine is dark brown and navy blue. No purple at all.
@sammydog01 Same here, except my navy blue shows EVERY LITTLE BIT OF DUST it brushes up against. lol I really like this bag, for the price.
