@thezeusjuice I toats wish I had mentioned this when I noticed it at 12:00:03 EDT, but I didn't want to call anyone out on their write up, but that seems to be PC here...
@DMlivezey I see it as just another meh thing. They're too cheap to pay for editors so they have us do it for them. For cheap. Free. And we cheerfully oblige.
@RedOak I was going to follow that up with 'Who's going to be the first jerk to say I just did.' :) But, the truth is, I didn't. I never said I'd expect LED lights.
@jzmacdaddy your comment got me curious so I looked at the reviews. I thought "hmm, 3.3, not too bad", but then looked closer at the numbers and I realized how weird Amazon's review formula is. 33% of users gave it one star, which is pretty terrible, and when I did the math I came out with a 2.7-2.8 average review. 2.7 to me says stay away (which most reviewers also said), while 3.3 is more of a ymmv situation. My trust in online reviews (or aggregates there of) has been shaken to its core. Anyone know how the "average" is calculated?
@belowi Because reviewers can be rather ignorant (review shipping or some other issue that has nothing to do with the item itself), I have taken to going straight to the 3-star reviews first - on any site, then to the newer reviews. Maybe that's also a good way to ignore Amazon's weird average formulation (I've noticed too).
Yet again, we find ourselves wandering toward the corner of impulsivity and temptation as we near that janky ass pawn shop at the edgr of town. As we approach the darkness Twofer Tuesday emerges. "Twofer Tuesday knows all, Twofer Tuesday sees all, Twofer Tuesday HAS THE POWER." Suddenly you are surrounded by cameras. You attempt to run, but they are fucking everywhere. Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide. All you can do is accept it.
I too loved the last line. So much, in fact, that I was almost ready to buy these things, for which I have neither need nor want. But what a terrific windup!
Dear meh, I know I haven't been the best goat. The past 2 weeks have been hell. But I'm back. Do you really want to see what goes on as a goat? I don't think these would arrive before my goatdom ended. I had so many ideas. But alas it's almost over. I'll find a way to go out in a bang! Maybe a periscope or something ;$ Then again I seriously doubt you guys want to see this ugly mug. Did we have to end it with a math problem however? I'm glad you out the price in the write up as I look back sometimes and wish I knew what you sold it at. But not so much when you have the incorrect price. Either way... Bleat! Also I realize that my struggles are not the worst I've dealt with. But probably one of the most stressful. Maybe those that can lend a helping hand to those who need? That would be the best thing from my goatdom! Pay it forward, and help someone out. Also happy coffee day go get some free shit!
looking for something inexpensive that connects via wifi that will stream to a website (or a frame embedded in a website - so youtube, twitch, whatever..) appears this will not work.. (we want to point a camera at the baby chicks at the local county fair and live stream it)
@trailtroll Just leave the device plugged into a charger and install an app like Periscope, Meerkat, Livestream, or Ustream to broadcast video over WiFi. (Or one of the generic IP camera apps if you're more technically inclined).
@joedel263 use periscope app.. its cool for livestream and you can use it from your phone and automatically saves to your phone afterwards.. Its pretty cool.
@somf69 there are a lot of holidays I dress up for. For example: Speak like a pirate day, Easter (note some would say it's just dressing up) Christmas we dress up my son. (Pink bunny suit not included) thanksgiving we find ridiculous hats that are festive. New Years tends to leave a little lack of clothing by the end of it. I guess it depends... Plus random cosplay days. Who doesn't like that?
@jaremelz@kylethephotoguy how about inside an abandoned walmart? I shit you not. It was posted in 2013 on the outside of the abandoned Scranton/Dixon city walmart. (It had a rock collapse in early 2000's and they relocated but left the building there.
@Stormchaser wow, i was totally planning to get a screenshot, but instead I pored another 12 oz. of wine - yea, you try to get 12 oz. of wine into your pores and then tell me how you fell (:)
@Kylethephotoguy I wonder if you do a Tuesday where you had product at x cost for 2... But had it at 75% of x for only one how many would bite. Example 2 for speaker dock mini at 44 or one at 33... I doubt you'd get a lot of 1 of' but may increase your twofer sales numbers?
Is there 2 way audio? (Can I talk into my phone and my kids hear it from the camera?) if so, I'll buy.. Otherwise I'm stuck with the crappy woot pet monitors I have now
And once again my buyin' finger is twitchy. I semi-need these but not enough to really commit. And then there's the hubby always asking, "what did you buy now?" Then my mind has to go through the checklist... Ziplocs - got 'em. Ice cream maker - showed up. Passed on SDF. Were there any batteries? Shit. I don't know. So yeah, there's not a lot in favor of buying these. But still.........
@bakeyoural i feel ya, butts for me it's the wifey checking my pile of Meh. boxes/envelopes in the basement, damnit, if i had just saved them all (yes, i am a packrat)
A word of caution: The previous version of the Stem Izon cameras could be remotely controlled by anyone on the internet because of built-on backdoors, among other problems.
They certainly were not designed with security in mind. The person who investigated this had trouble hearing back from Stem, so it's not clear if they took care of the problems with 2.0.
@Thumperchick Actually, there is almost NOTHING you can do to secure that camera! It will always let strangers log in and control it because you can't remove the backdoor passwords! The video is always sent unencrypted! A firewall doesn't help much because it automatically connects to a proxy to talk to the app, and that makes the admin interface public.
@trisk And yet people trust Google supplying and supporting Dropcam...Google will use and share anything if there's a penny to be made or back to be scratched. "Mr. Government Man, you want so-and-so's Dropcam video from 2 weeks ago? Sure, here you go".
@PolloLoco and what about all those Nest customers who didn't realize there is a webcam in Nest thermostat and smoke detectors? They might have trusted Nest, but now that Google owns Nest?
Hopefully your Nest is no where near your bedroom.
"Dear Sir/Mam, we've noted your home is warmer/cooler than the average homeowner. When can we send out our HVAC salesperson to discuss your system's proper functioning?"
PS: It appears your doggy needs to be let out. You're welcome."
I'm still having people break in from the last video monitor sale I missed and I've been waiting for these to come up! I changed the locks, told the State Police and Local police, and I keep my front lights on all night long. I can't figure out how they are getting in. (The police really didn't seem interested.) They're not stealing too much,(afer all, I'm shopping at meh), some money and some worthless prescription drugs, but it's gone from annoying to damn spooky. I must be idiotically cheap,(and poor). I got windows and an old webos phone. I said I was waiting for the next time meh is offering them, but these aren't gonna work on windows.I just might have to spring for that nest. I hate shelling out that money for some (probably) punk-ass kids. But, you never know who it is. ok, I'm gonna go drag my feet a bit again...
@wew if you're not down with apps and the butt, i mean cloud, get any Wi-Fi camera and "ispy" free software for your pc. Unknown whether this counts as any Wi-Fi camera, but you don't need anything super special.
@wew At that point I'd either consider moving or waiting quietly in a dark corner with a shotgun. Mind you, I'm not a big gun guy but enough is enough.
@wew Damn bro, sounds like you need to step up your game and keep those freaks out! Get a Foscam next time they come up.......and a gun for your safety.
In case you really want many of these, take comfort knowing that Izon has your back.
MULTIPLE IZON CAMERAS
The izon App supports multiple izon cameras on a network. We recommend no more than 200 izon on a single 802.11n network. Live viewing of video on a local network is unlimited and supports up to 4 iOS devices simultaneously. Remote viewing of any izon video stream is limited to 5 minutes per session and supports only one iOS device at a time. Sessions may be renewed indefinitely.
I was going to jump right on this, but then read the Amazon reviews. Hit or miss but the killer is 33% (Highest) gave it 1 star with a lot of bugs and issues. The security issues worry me as well. As much as I want to buy this for the price, the reviews are turning me away. Maybe I will cave later if I see some more feedback on the forum. Maybe a sell out will decide for me.
I go directly to the 3-star reviews and it seems that the biggest complaint stems from people not reading the product info. These are most likely good cheapo cameras. But, the security thing is what we should be concerned about. I almost jumped on these.
Meh. To me a good deal is a GREAT price on a GREAT device. I'm tired of wasting money on cheap junk that winds up in the trash (or worse, hanging around unused because spent too much money to throw it away). I want the products that people LOVE. When 1/3rd of reviewers give something 1 star on Amazon (23 people), you know that it's not designed very well.
@jdos10 "Video: 300kbps bitstream, QVGA video at 10fps, up to 1.5Mbps VGA video at 30fps" QVGA is 320x240, VGA is 640x480. Why is it able to sustain VGA at a higher framerate than QVGA? Your guess is as good as mine.
@veperl I think you should read the meh.com/faq - so you can adjust your expectations accordingly. Specifically, the section on shipping:
Q: How much is shipping? How will it be shipped? Can I pay to expedite it? A: Shipping’s always $5, and free for VMP members (see below). So yeah, we’re going to ship it the slowest and cheapest way we can possibly find. Usually that’s Smartpost or Surepost, which starts with FedEx or UPS and ends with the post office. It’ll probably be 2 weeks before you get it. And no you can’t get it any faster. Q: Ok, fine, it's slow. But when will it be shipped? And how can I track it? A: We wait until the day after the event ends to print the shipping labels, and sometimes if it's busy it can be two or three days (not counting weekends, because we don't ship on weekends). Once it ships, we'll throw a tracking number on your orders page at https://meh.com/orders (Enough people have asked for a tracking email that we'll probably do that, but we're not there yet.)
I have one running right now here is my quick review on it.
The setup: a bit hard, there is a qr code included that you put in front of the camera to connect i dont know but took a few trys to connect to my network.
The Camera its self: at night it is utter crap, getting that out of the way its not a bad camera durring the day, you can set motion detection sound detection to record and upload to their could. These cameras only work via the APP so connecting via PC is not an option unless you port scan and hack it.
The security:
They are bad with security wise, hackers can get in but they are better now.
So excited to get, 20 min in still can't get it to connect to network. One thing on the app it only ready network names of 5 characters in the app, so when it does the verification that I have switched back to my network it says "you have to connect to 'basil' instead of the network called 'basilfroth'" About to call them but compared to Belkin's setup this is far down the ladder.

Interesting... But I already don't use the last security camera I bought from meh.
@stoopkid They once sent me one when I ordered something else, but now it's furniture.
Picture this
I think you need to update the description where you say they are $23 each... You are selling yourselves short... They are $22 each!!
@curtise I was going to say 1 for $23 and 2 for 44 but someone beat me to it. I blame myself.
@sohmageek we blame you too.
Where are my pillows at Meh? Still waiting...
@mehcorporate i got mine. you might need to email them directly
@mehcorporate email support@mediocre.com or go to your order page and click "I need help with this", @hollboll is sure to take care of you, or the other @Mehtiemployee (sorry I forget her/the name, much less the @name)
Any clue on whether these would work with Blue Iris?
@telepheedian
Is she back in town?
@ILikeMeh it's better than rejuvenation
@telepheedian I had the same question. Would buy them if they do but have looked everywhere and don't see that it does.
"But they're $23 each! Who knew the future could be so cheap?"
who did the math on this one? how does $23 each = $44? do i get a reward for finding a bug in the writeup?
@carl669 Common Core math.
@cweilemann I wish I could give you more stars!
Huh, why does it say in the description that they're $23 each, if they total $44?
@thezeusjuice Ffs for it being midnight people are great at maths! ;)
@sohmageek and some of us are even drunk!
dammit! they fixed the writeup and now my comment just looks stupid. but i still get a reward, right?
@carl669 That's how Meh gets a lot of my money, being drunk at 12 AM EST!
@carl669 with a post-deal-launch edit, doesn't meh normally acknowledge (and thank) the notice? Things falling a bit flat minus @JonT?
@carl669 And some of us don't even have midnight as an excuse!
@thezeusjuice I toats wish I had mentioned this when I noticed it at 12:00:03 EDT, but I didn't want to call anyone out on their write up, but that seems to be PC here...
@DMlivezey it's a bonus when we catch them with their pants down like math errors ;) not actual pants down with cameras...
@DMlivezey I see it as just another meh thing. They're too cheap to pay for editors so they have us do it for them. For cheap. Free. And we cheerfully oblige.
Edit/Add: another example of Meh cheapness (er, frugality-to-keep-the-prices-down. . . @JonT's compensation must have been killer):

Was hoping 2 for one bluetooth microwave!
Gotta see it to believe it I guess :)
I love the subtle quip at the end relating to Woot and Amazon.
Who's going to be the first jerk to ask if you're going to receive two LED lights?
@cinoclav you just did.
@RedOak I was going to follow that up with 'Who's going to be the first jerk to say I just did.' :) But, the truth is, I didn't. I never said I'd expect LED lights.
@RedOak Btw, no offense - I really don't think you or anyone else here is a jerk! Well, maybe one or two people but I haven't seen them around so...
Its a Nozi! Wait... Its a Izon! No, wait...
@ruouttaurmind NO VIDEO FOR YOU!
It says: "Powered via mini USB (9ft cable included)". Is there a power adapter included? Or does this have to be connected to a PC?
@Achromatter USB to Wall Outlet is included (per review on YouTube).
@Tin_Foil Thanks! :)
Too bad the reviews on it (them) suck.
@belowi I don't know for sure, but I've read that they weigh newer reviews more heavily, presumably because there are often updates and improvements.

Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide. All you can do is accept it.
@studerc There's no impulse or temptation around this corner.
@studerc this week with pagination! It makes the 2-for that much more interesting!
@studerc Like a suit, an edgr suit!
I too loved the last line. So much, in fact, that I was almost ready to buy these things, for which I have neither need nor want. But what a terrific windup!
Great zinger at the end of the writeup.
Perfect! I love Chinese manufactured crap that can monitor my home/report home to China!
Dear meh,
I know I haven't been the best goat.
@sohmageek Rest easy, poor goat. I'm sorry the past couple weeks haven't been easy for you. Hopefully things are better. You've been a good guy goat.
@sohmageek i drink a lot too, toats ma goats feelin' it, or feelin' ya, or whatever the cool kids say, ur awright by me, mr. geeky
looking for something inexpensive that connects via wifi that will stream to a website (or a frame embedded in a website - so youtube, twitch, whatever..) appears this will not work.. (we want to point a camera at the baby chicks at the local county fair and live stream it)
@joedel263 hot live chicks on cam?
@joedel263 Got an old phone or tablet kicking around? They make great internet cameras!
@trisk ooo. ... Details?
Like so many items Meh sells, there is a reason these are offered at a huge discount! I say meh.
I'm confused. Do these only work over wifi or do they wifi to your network and then you can check them over the world wide web?
@NapkinEater

"Clever holiday disguises"? What...now you have to go all pc with Halloween too??
@somf69 there are a lot of holidays I dress up for. For example: Speak like a pirate day, Easter (note some would say it's just dressing up) Christmas we dress up my son. (Pink bunny suit not included) thanksgiving we find ridiculous hats that are festive. New Years tends to leave a little lack of clothing by the end of it. I guess it depends... @somf69 Hope you will have a not too scary but monstrous candy-give-away holiday celebration this October. Wink wink nudge nudge say no more.
@Kylethephotoguy I believe @jaremelz has you taken care of
@Kylethephotoguy
@sohmageek I love candy
@jaremelz @kylethephotoguy how about inside an abandoned walmart? I shit you not. It was posted in 2013 on the outside of the abandoned Scranton/Dixon city walmart. (It had a rock collapse in early 2000's and they relocated but left the building there.
@sohmageek I'm game, but damnit, if all they have in there are knock-off tootsie rolls, I'm going to be pissed
@sohmageek it's "TALK like a pirate day" Arrrrr.
Hah meh changed the description to 22
@sohmageek and all is well with the math police.
@sohmageek damn hope you got a screenshot before they changed it!
@Stormchaser wow, i was totally planning to get a screenshot, but instead I pored another 12 oz. of wine - yea, you try to get 12 oz. of wine into your pores and then tell me how you fell (:)

too funny!! I need a glass of wine just to figure out if i should buy these because too many people are stealing from me

@sohmageek Remember the Neoprene Sleeves?
Nearly 6000 of them?
It was cheaper to buy more and people were trying to stop @JonT giving them away. As I recall, some mehtizens took a bath.
Wi do I not See the deal here?
Is there 2 way audio? (Can I talk into my phone and my kids hear it from the camera?) if so, I'll buy.. Otherwise I'm stuck with the crappy woot pet monitors I have now

@wew Thanks for the help everyone. This is my last reply, but I'll be re-reading this whole thread a few more times!
Is the camera resolution quarter VGA or Quad VGA?
@nadroj
From the webpage for this model:
But then again it shows a picture of the new one?
Did they fix the rather serious security issues?
In case you really want many of these, take comfort knowing that Izon has your back.
@404Error either that - or they have a massive over-supply/manufacturing commitment.

If one was to order this item would you ship on a turtle in three weeks.
I ordered a item if it takes ten days or more you guys are gone.
Thanks, and you guys can get to work, sleep off that buzz and push forward
@veperl I think you should read the meh.com/faq - so you can adjust your expectations accordingly. Specifically, the section on shipping:
@veperl They ship faster if you have the VMP. Or did I dream that?
@uwacn you dreamed that.

@stonefree do the manual setup, the code reader thing doesn't work for squat.
we use them to monitor the house when we're out. The auto alerts are very helpful and you can't beat the price.
got an email saying company is ending service as of sept 30 2018. they worked when I used them . RIP
