20W is neither slow nor fast if you’ve got a modern device that can use more. It’s sort of low-middle-ish for those. But if you’re still on an older or lower-range phone or tablet, this is “fast enough.” (And if you have something that can hoover up 65W, you probably have a wall wart to match.)
Noting that the specs claim surge protection as a feature, cruise lines may forbid the use of these on board.
@werehatrack My understanding (as of this year 🫣) is that they’re categorically forbidden. Something to do with wiring and heat; I don’t remember exactly.
Look at all the wasted, unutilized space on the top of this device! Surely they could have fit at least 4 more USB ports there! Unless they intended the clean flat surface to be used as a coaster perhaps??
@cfg83 sadly, that power strip, aside from the 2-prong plug and kinda short cable, actually looks fairly decent. Nice spacing between outlets, a USB-A and USB-C? Just needs a meh price of 19.99 and it’d be workable.
The only feature this guy has that is of any interest is the surge protection (lots of inexpensive extension cord power strips don’t have it). But only two AC outlets, and very “meh” power on the USB ports say $5 Meh item at best to me. [I recently purchased a brand new more capable USB powerstrip surge suppressor in a similar form factor that had 6x AC outlets, and the same 2 USB-A and 1 USB-C for $12].
@summetj@tjamaco That’ll definitely be recalled in about 6 months, but seems like the price per weight ratio is right. At least it’s got a physical power switch.
@andymand@jandrese I plug it into another power strip already in the room (which you’re not supposed to do) so it works for me. But yes, normally a flat plug would be better.
@chienfou@kuoh@mehcuda67@NombreDeUsuario It’s a joule thief-- That infinity loop picks up (steals) power from nearby radio stations, wifi, transmission lines, spy satellites, and geomagnetic storms. Proof: During a lightning storm, the neon light will probably flash
I got one of these last month. Fine for what I needed. Will even slow-charge my Dell laptop and big iPad. Yes I do have a higher-watt wall-wort for the laptop but this works as a convenient bedside box, Scolding: you should not be using your electronic devices in your bed anyway! OK thanks, mom. And don’t sit too close to the TV because of radiation from the tubes!
@pmarin Luckily there are almost no tube TVs left anymore, just 10x the number of flat panel encounters now. So instead of being occasionally exposed to weak potentially cancer inducing radiation, we now have frequent interactions with cataract and migraine inducing, mental energy depleting blue light sources that may display not so subtle subliminal messaging… Miranda!

There was a prime opportunity to make fun of NZT48 here
Okay, I just did a search and apparently NZT48 is a “real” supplement and not a movie prop any longer.

@pakopako One of my favorite films. I need to re-(re-re-re-) watch it soon - it’s been a while.
@macromeh @pakopako The TV Show is worth a watch…It acts as a sequel, and even includes some cameos from the man himself. Better than expected…
@kg714x @pakopako Yeah, it was pretty good - too bad it was cancelled so soon.
@pakopako so many limits… Only 5 devices, only 20W, Only 1280 joules of surge, only a 2M cord. Shame.
Aside from “shuttered” vs “shuddered” that writeup was top-notch, would read again.
“Aerosolized tinsel” and “Deer Team Six is oated and ready for action” were highlights.
@yeppers Dammit Grammarly: Free Edition! What am I not paying you for??
(Thank you! Typo fixed!)

@MrGoodGuy That’s where the coffee cup sits.
@MrGoodGuy shocked it isn’t some worthless speaker too lol
@MrGoodGuy An array of blinking LEDs would be perfect…
@macromeh @MrGoodGuy then, I would like a digital display of incoming AC voltage, and regulated USB output and current.
@MrGoodGuy where’s the auto AC fail night light? Or the wifi-reset button?
Movie pic inspired by that '80s hit Explorers.
Pass. 20W charging? Come on.
70W iz the new 20W.
LIMITLESS POWA
Feeling lazy, will let the showme showme
/showme Let’s discuss today’s Limitless PowerPro 5-Device Charger & Surge Protector deal.
@mediocrebot Hrrrmmm, Limitless price increase is more like it!

@summetj Where, when and how?
@tjamaco Amazon of course… https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D2D9TWWG?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1

“A compact, sleek design” – seems like a flat plug would have been a better choice to support that claim…
@andymand Yeah, this thing is downright chonky for the number of ports it has.
@andymand @jandrese I plug it into another power strip already in the room (which you’re not supposed to do) so it works for me. But yes, normally a flat plug would be better.
Can I plug my whole house in to access the Limitless power? It would be nice to get off the grid.
@mehcuda67 It can work, but only if you route the cable the right way.
KuoH
@kuoh @mehcuda67
I particularly like the incorporation of the ‘infinity’…
@chienfou @kuoh @mehcuda67 is this a mobius power strip?
@chienfou @kuoh @mehcuda67 @NombreDeUsuario It’s a joule thief-- That infinity loop picks up (steals) power from nearby radio stations, wifi, transmission lines, spy satellites, and geomagnetic storms. Proof: During a lightning storm, the neon light will probably flash

KuoH
@kuoh @pmarin Miranda I
this show & movie soo much! It just proves TV executives are really, really stupid!
Just think, for $15 more y’all could have had this power strip, PLUS a drill scrub brush, PLUS a webcam, PLUS some useless screen cleaner!
