Toshiba 14" Touchscreen Laptop (Refurbished)
- Lots of laptop (500GB hard drive, 6GB RAM) crammed into a skinny little (0.83" thick, 4.5 lbs) package
- Ample, touchy 14" touchscreen so you can get greasy smudges all over a totally new part of your laptop
- Runs Windows 10, which has to be worth $100 to somebody
- Model: E45W-C4200X (again we must invoke the laptop waiver: complicated model numbers are OK for products with complicated variations in models)
WAIT WAIT it's not a Chromebook
We’ve done pretty well with Toshiba Chromebooks. And so has the not-inconsiderable portion of our following who appreciate a $150 laptop - even one with no real hard drive space to speak of, and a limited OS where you pretty much do everything through the browser.
But what about the rest of you? What if you prefer to have your media on the machine rather than streaming everything? What if you need a little more computing power under the hood? What if you like to be able to install whatever software you want without doing some kind of OS rooting hack-wizardry? What if you want to play games beyond what you can play on your phone? What do YOU get out of the Chromebook deal?
This low price on this non-Chromebook laptop, that’s what. Thanks in part to the downward pressure on prices exerted by ultra-cheap notebooks, we’re now finding deals like we’ve never seen before on higher-powered machines.
If you’re looking for a decent laptop, here’s a lot of decent for your buck. That decent-sized 14" touchscreen alone lifts this above the cheapo herd. With a decent 500GB hard drive, 6GB of RAM, an Intel Core i3 processor, and a pair of USB 3.0 ports, this little Toshiba number wants for nothing in the decency department. It still weighs just 4.5 lbs. and is a mere 0.83" thick.
We’re not going to tell you it’s a top-end gaming rig or graphics production station. But at least you can load Steam and Photoshop on it. You don’t have to let King Google dictate what you can and can’t do with this laptop. And you get all this for a set of Franklin triplets. Isn’t your freedom from the yoke of Chromebook tyranny worth it?
If not, we’ll do what we can to rustle up some more cheap Chromebooks. Different yokes for different folks, we always say. But the rest of you… you’ve waited long enough.
