GreenTech Pure Power Dimmable LED Light Bulbs (6-Pack)
- Each pack includes six lightbulbs, for which we have coined the new phrase “six-pack”
- Choose your “wattage” from 40W to 75W (not that LED bulbs actually use that much wattage, of course)
- These are the warm, glowing kind of LEDs, not the cold, glaring kind
- Remember to set your clocks back late Saturday night. Just thought we’d mention it one more time
Fall Back
Daylight Saving Time ends today - at 2 AM Sunday morning, to be exact - which you would think would be great news for people who hate Daylight Saving Time. Except that the thing they hate the most is the disruption involved in re-setting clocks twice a year. (Have you done yours yet?)
Does DST cause more power usage, or less? Is DST less safe for people driving to work in the morning dark - or more safe for people driving home in the evening light? Is DST a simple, practical idea for adjusting to the seasons, or an Illuminati scheme to prop up the patio bar industry? Is it a nightmare for parents of young children, or a horrendous nightmare for parents of young children? We’re not about to wade into it.
(OK, except for this: this idea that DST disturbs our so-called natural, sun-based sleep cycles? That only makes sense if you live, like, on the Equator. At more moderate latitudes, a shift one hour in either direction is nothing compared to how widely the time of sunrise swings naturally through the course of the year. Daylight Saving Time actually helps smooth that variation out. If the people of Seattle picked one time and stuck to it, the sun would rise at either 4 AM in the summer, or 9 AM in the winter.)
Wait, what were we talking about?
Oh, right, yeah: stop complaining about daylight and start doing something about it. Stop getting pushed around by the clock or the government or the freaking Sun itself. We’re smart creatures. We have lights of our own now.
Leave these dimmable Greentech LED bulbs burning all night, if you want. Use a dimmer switch (of your own) to simulate sunlight for your DST-oppressed roosters. They use so little power, they won’t make a dent in the grid usage. And they give you mastery over the very forces of light and shadow! Especially in tandem with those blinding rope lights we sold the other week, you need never fear the onset of darkness again!
Abolish night! Usher in the eternal reign of day! Rule en empire o’er which the Sun never sets! You have the power! You are the power! You are the Sun! You are Time!
(But still, you probably shouldn’t forget to set your clocks back this weekend. If you don’t, even your new Godlike power is no defense against being an hour early to everything.)
