@Thumperchick Oh, good! Luring them in with treats and stuffing them in the oven is just so old-school. Caramel/chocolate sounds better. Dipped in chocolate with a maple-butter glaze is also a winner.
@WINTERMUTE Sorry to hear that. We just went through the same thing a year ago. If you're POA (I was for m-i-l), you're going to be doing a lot over the next few months.
@pooflady Ditto. We even put up decorations this year since its a weekend; normally 'official' TorT time is over by the time we get home from work. But its windy and raining so not expecting much.
@duodec Our TOR time is 6-8 and it's starting to sprinkle. We just saw the three kids across the street leave in costume, so we might not even have them this year. We've lived here 44 years and our highest number was 18.
@Thumperchick Yep, had three from across the street. But then a son, daughter-in-law, two grandsons, and a great-grandson showed up. We have three bars left. That was more fun.
Last year we had a little over 30 kids, which was a really big year. So I thought we were on a new trend and loaded up this year.
N-i-n-e. 9 showed up. Well that doesn't include the obnoxious teen who loudly pounded my door after lights out. I answered and he actually ran back up to the door and apologized ( his chicken friends waited at the sidewalk). He seemed like a really nice kid, told me they were just out goofing around and apologized again. I gave him candy and told him to stay out of trouble. I should of given him a lot more, with what I have left.
Some people get mad at older kids out. Me, I'm glad they are having fun w/ friends. I'm glad they aren't out getting into real trouble. Life's too short. Share candy.
@ceagee I don't mind the older kids - as long as they put some effort into dressing up and didn't just wander out with their backpack and normal clothes. If they do show up like that, we harass them a bit and make them earn candy.
I have 2 giant bowls full of candy left over because I spent most of the evening in the fetal position due to pain from trying to pass a kidney stone. I love handing out candy and seeing the kids in costumes but I could barely stand up last night. We left the porch lights off and only opened the door for the pizza delivery guy. He got a nice tip and a handful of candy. Feeling much better today.
GF and I are going to see a movie and then dinner.
Drawing the curtains, turning off the lights, and hiding behind the sofa until dawn.
@sjk3 did the purge start or what?
Trunk or Treat at church.
Tonight we went to an interactive screening of Rocky Horror. Tomorrow we will candy the children.
@Thumperchick What do you like to dip the children in, chocolate? Perhaps a nice caramel?
@jaremelz I knew you'd see through my word play and know exactly what we were doing. We dip in caramel, then chocolate.
@Thumperchick Excellent, double dip the little....darlings.
@Thumperchick I hope you sprinkle a few with nuts for some extra crunch!
@Thumperchick Oh, good! Luring them in with treats and stuffing them in the oven is just so old-school. Caramel/chocolate sounds better. Dipped in chocolate with a maple-butter glaze is also a winner.
@Thumperchick And don't forget the sprinkles!
@jaremelz Maybe not sprinkles... But a few will have some sea salt for added depth...
@jaremelz Putting sprinkles on kids named Jimmie would be doubly sweet.
@hallmike As would putting jimmies on women named Sprinkles.
Working, people don't stop needing an ambulance just because of Halloween. Unfortunately.
@Saffer49 Thanks for your efforts; I have never needed an ambulance yet but its good to know they're available
@Saffer49 Throwing virtual candy at you, all healthy but it tastes like the evil stuff.
Shitting uncontrollably.
Visiting my mom in the hospital and helping to get her bills and things in order because she's on her way to the nursing home. :(
@WINTERMUTE Sorry to hear that. We just went through the same thing a year ago. If you're POA (I was for m-i-l), you're going to be doing a lot over the next few months.
@WINTERMUTE I am very sorry to hear this. My hopes for as smooth a transition as possible are with you.
I'm going into NY to see the freaks.
Candy, fire pit, beer, Notre Dame vs Temple.
Camping, actually
Man, I'm like the only one going trick-or-treating. I want free candy goddamnit!
Handing out candy to the possible (if we're lucky) three kids that will come to the door. Of course we have 25 big bars just in case.
@pooflady Ditto. We even put up decorations this year since its a weekend; normally 'official' TorT time is over by the time we get home from work. But its windy and raining so not expecting much.

@pooflady I think our lowest turnout since moving to this neighborhood has been 200. If you want ToTers, move within a block of an elementary school.
@Thumperchick Yep, had three from across the street. But then a son, daughter-in-law, two grandsons, and a great-grandson showed up. We have three bars left. That was more fun.
@pooflady We had a smallish number this year, I want to say about 150-200. Dead stopped at 8 pm. It was weird.
@Thumperchick Possibly a football game came on at 8:30?
I went to Chipotle in a tiger suit wearing a meh apron to get a $3 burrito.
@cbechard58 - Chipotle locations around here closed for an E. coli scare.
Thinking that tomorrow is already November and I still haven't done a ton of things this year that I said I would do.
I set up shop on the porch and gave out a metric ton of candy while swatting away mosquitoes. Our neighborhood is awesome.
Just got home from a wedding and reception.
Throwing a party hey hey

@hallmike Bummer. That evil goat @christinewas is clearly involved in your misery. So sorry.
Enjoy your leftover candy !
@hallmike I promise that during the last bit of October, I did not put a goatly curse on you for that jareladd conversation.
Maybe.
@hallmike - Poor baby. Glad you're better.
Oh no! Sorry you had such a rough night!
@ceagee, it looks to me like @hallmike started feeling better when I became goat. If you want to blame me for that, I accept!
