Totally missed an opportunity here, because 3-4 companies make smart LED bulbs with built in Bluetooth speakers. Coulda been the new speakerdockLEDbulb Saturday.
@djslack Reminds me of the person who thought changing the user interface language on a copier to Spanish would also make it turn English originals into Spanish copies.
(Which is probably actually possible now I guess?)
IIRC, @dave needed a lot of the chandelier bulbs. So here you go.
And while you're at it, thank @jaremelz for putting up something usable on the last day of goatdom. Unless you didn't need them now, in which case, blame her!
Glad this came up, was planning on purchasing some vanity bulbs from Amazon soon because i hate the warm up period of my current CFLs during the winter months. Best i could find on Amazon was $18.99 for a 3 pack. I'll take $18.99 for a 6 pack any day!
I have 6 cans in my kitchen and 4 of them in my bathroom (and like 100 in the basement (weird old roomate)) so hopefully the br30s will be a good replacement! The lumen output is higher than the 65w incandescents in them right now.
In for two packs of the A19s. I was just noticing today that yet another CFL in the overhead lighting burned out and couldn't find any more of the 6 LED bulbs I bought from Costco (I think there should be one more left, but maybe it got used elsewhere).
I really have not been impressed with CFL. They burn out within months -- possibly because of our dirty power, but a) I spent extra on dimmable CFLs for just that reason and b) every one of the LED bulbs, which also have electronic ballasts, has outlasted them. And if I break an LED bulb I go "dammit" and toss it, but if I break a CFL I now have mercury dust floating around? Gee, thanks, but no.
@medz CFLs also don't do well when switched on and off often.
Can they last? Yes - last year, I replaced a couple Ikea CFLs at my parents' house that were put in service in 1999; one in a half bathroom, one in laundry room. They still work, but nowhere near as well as the new LEDs.
The county will give me one new LED bulb for one used CFL at biennial hazardous-waste collection events... but only one. It'll be 2025 before I can swap em all, so I'm in.
@KDemo I have heard this. Anecdotally, I can confirm this with (uncontrolled) evidence. CFLs that I put into ceiling fixtures have burned out. CFLs that are in lamp applications still work. Same brand.
That's all it takes for me to have a permanent bias against them. I am simple, that way.
GreenTech's site says all of these are dimmable but Meh specs only list some as dimmable. Are the BR30's really dimmable? want to be sure otherwise may need to cancel the enchanted-thriving-cabbage.
@megalomani The first post in every product thread has the specs for the product - the dimmable ones are labeled dimmable for this sale. You are right in that it looks like not all of them are.
Great price..wish I could order more than 3. New house, with about 50 million can lights, but I could "only" get 18. Oh well, perhaps "LED Saturdays" will start happening?
So, with this: macho-enigmatic-cucumber order number, I had to try the google game. Not as good of results as one migh think, but at least google has a sense of humor:
For zeriously? How many people have chandeliers and are up before 6AM on Saturday---curse you, Pacific timers. We wanted the candelabra bulbs, Precious.
One of the nice kings about Vermont is we get subsidized Led and CFL bulbs. While I would have purchased the candelabra ones as they appear to be a better quality than the ones I'm currently using. And perhaps buy a 6 pack of the regular ones. (Again they appear to be better quality but who knows. The ones I had been getting I thought were good quality too) it appears to be a sellout in all but the floods. Wtg meh with your almost total sellout!
Slept on it and lost. My living room needs dimmable br30s anyway, although I could've done the kitchen. I bought a six pack (to borrow your new term) of incandescents for not that much less this year to replace ones that had burned out, and they were so crappy two of the six didn't work. So this was an excellent deal.
Damn it. Screw fukubukuro bags. THIS is what I've been staying up until midnight for since the last time they were sold, and I missed it. I even needed the little bulbs, and figured they would never sell those. Guess I'll give up and buy them on Amazon now.
Well, I didn't get a Fuku which I'm terribly disappointed about... But I checked at 11:08pm central today and managed 12 candelabras for my stupid 1995 light fixtures, and threw in some standards because I am too lazy to get out of bed and check all my other fixtures (I know I have 2 large flood, and I paid >$14 for one flood LED at Lowes, so this is a great deal!).
@narfcake No, it's a regular switch (hallway so two switches). It's old wiring though so I wouldn't be surprised if that had something to do with it. I'd take a picture, but cameras and dark don't get along.
@kensey I didn't think LEDs used fluorescence at all. I thought that the light came from an electron -> photon reaction when electricity hits the silicon.
@gwrankin I think you're right, but the frosting may still fluoresce just because (I've noticed that appearing the happen on frosted incandescent bulbs before). Some frosting is physical manipulation of the glass surface and some (apparently on "soft white" bulbs) is pigment applied to the inside. I would bet one of the two shows this holdover glow more.
@kensey I love Science. sidenote: Those BR40 bulbs are GREAT! They replaced incandescent 65W floods and with the LEDs the room is so much brighter and more inviting.
I just got my A19s today. These are noticeably brighter and whiter than my similar-nominal-wattage LEDs from Coscto (Feit Electric, I think) or the CFLs I refuse to buy any more of (seriously, CFLs are like the worst lighting idea since the Hindenburg). That's not necessarily a bad thing as those other bulbs have always looked noticeably dim and yellow to me. We'll see how these hold up.
Interestingly the A19s have a different heat-dump design than the other LED bulbs I have -- they have a smooth metal (?) surface rather than fins.
@kensey I've had the smooth metal heat sink before. They seem to work fine and don't seem as heavy as the ones with the fins. Weight can be scary if you're putting 5 in a ceiling fan or something.
Got anymore of these laying around the warehouse? Haven’t had a single issue with them in over 6 months. Would love to purchase some more. They are insanely bright.
Anyone else notice these lights flicker bad (almost a flash)?
I’m not always sure, but think they flash when other loads in the house are turned on/off?
(Mine also glow slightly in a ceiling fan with remote dimmer switch, due to leakage current of the receiver)

@thismyusername A beautiful thing. Looks like Edison stole the show from Swan:
http://www.wired.com/2009/12/1218joseph-swan-electric-bulb/
Watts this?.
@AttyVette a pretty bright idea if you ask me.
@jsh139 What LED you to that conclusion?
@Kyser_Soze oh I don't know..guess I took a shining to this deal
@AttyVette C'mon guys. This is serious stuff and not to be taken lightly.
If it's "at 2 AM Sunday morning, to be exact," then it's not today, Meh.
Meh, I really wanted a new knife tonight.
@SteveOOO
Totally missed an opportunity here, because 3-4 companies make smart LED bulbs with built in Bluetooth speakers. Coulda been the new speakerdockLEDbulb Saturday.
@saodell If this happens we will goat you.
@jqubed All of I sudden I heard Queen singing "We will, we will goat you".
This deal is a bright idea
I see a lack of glowing reviews here.
Years ago there was a section in my local newspaper that printed messages the readers called in and left on the newspaper's answering machine.
I kid you not, this message was printed late one summer:
"Someone needs to tell Congress to get rid of this Daylight Savings Time nonsense. The extra hour of sunlight is killing my lawn."
@djslack ... because I'm too tired to weed/feed and mow it.
@djslack
You can tell no one in DC ever had a real job or knows anyone who works for a living.
Because if they did, they change the spring-forward to 4:00 on a Friday.
@djslack Reminds me of the person who thought changing the user interface language on a copier to Spanish would also make it turn English originals into Spanish copies.
(Which is probably actually possible now I guess?)
But I like the cold, glaring kind
Not all of these are 2700K and not all of them are dimmable. Buyer beware.
@jsh139
Here is the info I have gleaned from the pictures... assuming the are correct:
model LEDBR40DIM
15W
1100 Lumens
2700K
vanity bulb
5W
_ Lumens
3000K
@moose got any of them laying around to pull the specs off the base? the pics are turned wrong for many of them :)
@thismyusername The rest of the specs are in the opening post.
@narfcake ahh thanks!
IIRC, @dave needed a lot of the chandelier bulbs. So here you go.
And while you're at it, thank @jaremelz for putting up something usable on the last day of goatdom. Unless you didn't need them now, in which case, blame her!
No "funny" picture? Why do I even check this site anymore?
@medz - Irk-in-the-bulb not funny?
@KDemo They added it late. Whew...good thing I caught it or I might have never came back.
@medz - OMG, what if you had missed it? I can't imagine . . .
But caption is spelled wrong? Shoddy proofreading really Irks me ;)
@medz OK..... because of you (@medz), I got IRK to dress up early and do a new "Fun image". Hope your happy for making me work on the weekend (-;
@Kylethephotoguy Yay! What fun! Worth it.
@Kylethephotoguy - Effort appreciated, tradition preserved. Close call, though. Whew!
Don't get spooked into buying this deal!
Happy Halloween Everyone!
@mfladd For someone, these could be a perfect fit!
Glad this came up, was planning on purchasing some vanity bulbs from Amazon soon because i hate the warm up period of my current CFLs during the winter months. Best i could find on Amazon was $18.99 for a 3 pack. I'll take $18.99 for a 6 pack any day!
This deal is flooding the market
No daylight no care
Help me Meh. My house is full of GU24 fixtures!!
@OneMHz Buy some GU24 to E26 adapters and never have to worry about "non-standard" bulbs again.
@OneMHz http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00IJTTQO0

edit - oh yeah:
creative-ghoulish-spinach
distressed-delicious-scout
(So grateful the image search didn't go where I thought it would.)
"Six-pack"? Brilliant!
@KDemo Right? So much better than "bi-tri-buy" or "baker's quint" which is all I could come up with.
@awk - That star didn't really say enough. This is closer:
In for two packs of the A19s. I was just noticing today that yet another CFL in the overhead lighting burned out and couldn't find any more of the 6 LED bulbs I bought from Costco (I think there should be one more left, but maybe it got used elsewhere).

@kensey
Yeah, not sure how CFLs ever got green lit. Same track record here.
@kensey CFLs don't tend to do well in outdoor nor bathroom fixtures in my experience. Humidity, maybe.
@saodell "green lit" seems rather appropriate for CFLs...
Meh
The county will give me one new LED bulb for one used CFL at biennial hazardous-waste collection events... but only one. It'll be 2025 before I can swap em all, so I'm in.
handsomely-flabby-parent
I think last time someone said not to use these in closed fixtures. Does anyone know if that's the case?
@KDemo I have the same question/concern.
Any idea how these will be packaged? Individual boxes or a 6-pack in plastic?
@Lrok Christmas gifts ?
@jmbunkin Yeah, that's what I am thinking. My dad and sister would appreciate some of these.
@Lrok they are individually packaged.
@hales! A hearty greeting to you! Have we seen you in the forums before? Welcome, either way.
I look forward to installing these in my deserted-relishing-cave.
GreenTech's site says all of these are dimmable but Meh specs only list some as dimmable. Are the BR30's really dimmable? want to be sure otherwise may need to cancel the enchanted-thriving-cabbage.
@megalomani Hmm yes I just noticed this too. It says dimmable in the main title which made me think they all were dimmable.
@megalomani The first post in every product thread has the specs for the product - the dimmable ones are labeled dimmable for this sale. You are right in that it looks like not all of them are.
Okay, got the candelabras, seems like a good deal. They better not be 3 years old and weird and buzzy.
buff-observant-crayfish
Newish to Meh. First real discussion post. This price even beats Costco. skillful-mixed-paladin
@Teddydogno1 - You seem to catch on fast :-)
Any relation to @sammydog01?
@Teddydogno1 Excellent order pic.
@Teddydogno1
Yes, a great picture
though it reminds me how much
I miss Zorak. [sigh]
@Teddydogno1 awesome.
Any chance of opening this up to more than 3 per account? I wanted to buy 4 of the types. :-/
@jleichty Just sign up a second account.
@narfcake Don't want to pay none of that non-VMP shipping.
@jleichty Then sign up VMP on the second account too!
Got the chandelier type and the normal bulbs. Now I won't feel bad leaving those kitchen lights on.
godlike-designed-print
Couldn't pick between these images and I bought two sets so you get two pictures!
Anybody know if the BR 40 bulbs are outdoor rated?
Tired of replacing flickering CFL's Teeny-Rigid-Cod
Dam it, I only needed the Candelabras and apparently everybody else up before 4am also needed them!
@summetj Same here-- I'm good for led bulbs in general, but the Candelabras would have come in handy. But I was way-way too slow.
Similar deal on A19 bulbs at TigerDirect today: http://www.tigerdirect.com/sectors/category/deal-of-the-day.asp
Where are the input voltages? Free volts?
@zaeku It's designed for 120v only.
@HawkgirlDC I have chandeliers and was not up early enough either... Fortunately I was up late enough to get some! Hehe. :)
One of the nice kings about Vermont is we get subsidized Led and CFL bulbs. While I would have purchased the candelabra ones as they appear to be a better quality than the ones I'm currently using. @sohmageek same boat, was looking forward to some candelabras. Meh.
How 'bout getting more if these already?
For once i go to bed early. :(
Missed out on the BR30's. Bummer. :(

Gone.
Darkness ensues.
Let there be light (again,) eh?
Anyone else notice the candelabras glow ever so slightly in the pitch black when switched "off"?
@gwrankin Is your lamp on a dimmer switch?
@gwrankin CFLs do that too. I think standard frosted incandescents do as well. I think it's lingering fluorescence.
@narfcake No, it's a regular switch (hallway so two switches). It's old wiring though so I wouldn't be surprised if that had something to do with it. I'd take a picture, but cameras and dark don't get along.

Got my bulbs today. Liking the vanities and can bulbs, but the candelabras are quite blue for being "warm white" 3000K.
I just got my A19s today. @medz Yea. The last LED direct floods from meh were SO HEAVY.
Got anymore of these laying around the warehouse? Haven’t had a single issue with them in over 6 months. Would love to purchase some more. They are insanely bright.
Wow! That actually worked!
@baseba4551 do it for something good next time.
Anyone else notice these lights flicker bad (almost a flash)?
