Dishwash it. YOLO.

Do not wash this by hand. Yeah, yeah, that’s the exact opposite of what Contigo will tell you. They don’t recommend that you wash this Monroe 12-ounce stainless steel tumbler in the dishwasher. Well, we recommend the dishwasher as the only way to wash it.

What’s the worst that’ll happen if you do? It might lose some color. It’s not going to melt. Or make your dishwasher blow up. Or leach BPA into the water supply (the tumbler is BPA-free, naturally).

Washing it by hand is for suckers. Even a poorly paid dishwasher makes eight bucks an hour. If you use this five days a week, and wash it by hand after every use (so, 250 times a year), and each wash takes you two minutes (500 minutes a year), and you use it for three years (1500 minutes total), you’ll spend 25 hours washing it. That equals $200 in dishwashing services - and that’s at crappy wages! If you live in Seattle, it’s more like $375.

Is this $6 tumbler worth $375 to you? If so, let us know: we’ve got pallets full of $375 tumblers we’d love to sell you. If not, throw it in the dishwasher. When it falls apart a little earlier than it would if you washed by hand, you can always get another travel mug. Those 25 hours you spent washing it would be gone forever.
