What happens when you try and search YouTube for music?
3I like female artist. Sometimes I type in “women of county”. Since it’s a TV hooked to the stereo you have time to process it’s suggestions.
What the fuck is… Going on. And not the weirdest stuff if you make a typo.

And yes I understand it’s searching all of YouTube but the women over xx in bikini. I… Just what
@unksol
…I was amazed at the ahem, image quality of some of the pictures that came up with the “women over 50 in bikinis” as a Google search term.
Maybe, I shouldn’t have done it at work though…
Oops.
@PhysAssist I mean I would find it weird if it were women over 30 in bikini. but that’s so very specific to be the top recommendation. I just have questions
I took the risk and searched “women over 50 in bikinis.”
Honestly, since it’s YouTube, I expected most results to be videos about whether women in certain age ranges should wear bikinis, or body-positive influencers encouraging everyone to wear bikinis.
I am not too proud to admit when I’m wrong. I was wrong.
@Limewater lol I just want to hear like Maddie and tae. Or the new ones this year. So have to specify 2024.
Or Lorreta Lynn or Patsy Cline. Have to specify that too
Just weirds me out what it suggests on the way to your search phrase
/youtube if you go down I’m going down to
@unksol Some people game it.
In the earlier days of suggested search, if you started a Google search with “why won’t” one of the top suggested searches would be “why won’t my parrot eat my poop”.
@Limewater although you’re right. My brain went to men searching for women in bikinis.
Vs women searching for is ok for me to wear one. But it is a video sight. Not a forum so… Statistically not gonna search YouTube for that
@Limewater oh come on. That was early 2000s when google believed don’t be evil. And it was spider bots
The algorithms control it all now.
You can’t even do a google search without their moron AI at the top with its pirated BS
(Ok you can for now with the correct browser)
@Limewater @unksol Well, why won’t my parrot eat my poop? Now I want to know?
@Limewater @OnionSoup I’m guessing cause you don’t eat enough foot loops?
I know not a parrot but close enough
@OnionSoup @unksol I really enjoy stewed chicken feet, though it’s probably been more than a decade since the last time I had them.
They definitely aren’t loop-shaped, though.
Or is this like the pedal equivalent to one of those candy necklaces, or stringing a bunch of Froot Loops onto a piece of yarn and wearing it around your neck?
Plot Twist: They’re all left feet!
@Limewater
/youtube every thing she ain’t
/youtube every night and every morning Maddie and tae
The search terms that I’m generally using are not likely to generate porn links or weird results. I guess I’m strange. No, I don’t have to guess, I am strange.
I put in “new female country singers” in Google and got this: https://www.billboard.com/music/country/cmt-next-women-of-country-2024-1235586567/
And then I got a YouTube result too:
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLW-EIzQfrpN1vV8TtYe0dh7ha__cXrK4o
@Kyeh oh I can find the playlists just fine. I just find the things YouTube serves up… Strange.
Granted I have every login and tracking/add thing if so that may influence it. I constantly get formulaic adds for "this imaginary person experienced in this industry figured out this obviously fake product that the government is trying to ban/companies don’t want you to know about. "
There needs to be a way to report adds
@Kyeh every login/tracking thing turned off. I Missed the important part
@unksol Just a reflection that a lot if men are letchy weirdos, I guess. If you search “men of country” I bet you won’t get anything like those results.
@Kyeh maybe. But both 50 and 6o year old. And when I think of letchy guys they’d be looking at young women. Just weird
@unksol Yeah, weirdos. Mommy issues?
@Kyeh I mean that’s what pornhub is for. They’ll have something probably. Somewhere in there
@Kyeh @unksol Except that Pornhub is now banned in various US states. Maybe those users now have to make do with YouTube searches for bikinied women…
There are two different search “profiles” that Google uses for YouTube music. One is the music index, and the other is the YouTube index profile for results that aren’t directly available in their licensed library but we’re uploaded to YouTube. It lets Google appear to have a much larger collection of pure music. Unfortunately I’ve run into the same problem where the app switches over from “music” to just plain “YouTube videos of music” and you end up with crappy suggestions and the “up next” results are all barely related YouTube music videos. It feels schizophrenic and really makes me miss Google play music.
