“Espresso?” said Rita, who was from the city. “Like, the stuff from Starbucks? On a stove?!”
“We don’t have a Starbucks here in the country,” said Christopher. “Or where I’m from originally either, which is the North Po–err–land. North Poland is where my family hails from.”
“Ha,” said Rita accepting her mug. “It almost sounded as though you were going to say North Pole! Like you’re Santa’s son or something.”
“Ha! Very funny indeed,” said Christopher, stroking his blond beard and smoothing over his red jacket nervously.
