Excellent fans but haven’t tried, or even seen, they’re air purifiers (or the space heaters I also recently learned about from them).
Anyone actually use one of these before? My only concern is actually that it’s being sold here lol, which means they either didn’t sell well or there may be issues.
Funny enough, I actually caught a similar typo in the last sentence (was also they’re) but obviously didn’t notice the first instance. I do know the differences between they’re/there/their, I promise
@WaltC In my mind, the better question is whether the supply of the filters as replacement parts will end prior to the 5-year warranty. I’ve already sent a few bits of household equipment to the e-waste when such thing happened.
@WaltC@werehatrack Depends how many you stock up on now… For instance, a 2 pack of generic is currently $22.37, and 2 of them is a year’s supply. So, for $111.85, you can own a 5 year supply.
However, maybe the smarter move is to just check once a year for the filters, and if they are no longer available during the 5 year warranty period, claim a warranty for the loud whining sound, without mentioning it is coming from you and not the filter. Odds are, with a discontinued model, they might ask for it to be returned to check it out, but they would likely replace it with their next newest model which would still have a filter available.
7.25" diameter and 2.25" deep certainly isn’t very big overall. I really can’t see these lasting more than a couple of months at most.
MAYBE it’s possible to take an air nozzle on an air hose and blow them out to get some more life out of them. But it all depends on how they’re put together.
Alot of older ones had a charcoal filter that wrapped around, then a pre-filter that wrapped around that. BOTH could be removed, hand washed and replaced. It really extended the main filter life.
Amazon has generic replacement $25 and $23 for a 2 pack $15 for one
@dahobbs9 The trick with filters is that they actually become more efficient the dirtier they get. What drops is the pressure differential, which eventually starts to affect the flow, but the dirt itself actually tends to grab other dirt and trap it. I was kind of a counterintuitive thing I learned when taking a class in HVAC systems as part of my engineering studies.

@ApatheticAddict@user15902477 Amazon’s AI can show you price histories now like CamelCamelCamel has always done. And you can set price alerts. Not sure how reliable they are for alerting you in time. I’m still waiting on something to drop back to Nov 2025 prices that I forgot to take advantage of before they jacked it up after Jan 1.
@richrauch Sadly this is the typical suburban bedroom size. Room for a bed, and a lamp and walking paths to the closet. Maybe a dresser if you also use it for the nightstand.
@dave Quibble about a thing in the write-up. It’s not “vowel replacement” when the T in Tornado gets replaced with a V. Not unless you want to locally recast T as a vowel and use the Latin codepage for V which makes it a U.
@donver I would calibrate it differently; probably one per cat. OTOH, what we’ve discovered is that the HEPA filters are most effective when used in the bedroom and the work-at-home office. The more time that you spend in a given room, the more important the air quality becomes. Total square footage of the house is less crucial than the size of the space where you want filtration.

I’m suspicious that they didn’t list the db ratings on this thing. I like Vornado fans, but have been contemplating a small air purifier for the bedroom so we’re breathing less cat and human dander while we sleep.
Finally found some review site list it at 35db on low and 55db on high. Not bad. Not the best. Sorry, but I’ll pass. Levoit has their mini that is 10db less on both low & high, 2.5 times as much sq ft capacity, and only $15 more. The replacement filters are comparable in life & price.

Let me guess-- good deal on the purifier, but the replacement filters are expensive & need to be replaced–what?–every 6 months??
How does $20 at Amazon sound @WaltC?
There’s probably lower cost 3rd party options.
@therealjrn @WaltC How about 2 for $22.37 for generic?
@WaltC In my mind, the better question is whether the supply of the filters as replacement parts will end prior to the 5-year warranty. I’ve already sent a few bits of household equipment to the e-waste when such thing happened.
@WaltC @werehatrack You can always rinse them off in the sink, let them dry, and keep reusing…

@dahobbs9 It does say it’s for rooms up to 10x10, so I would expect the filters to be on the petite size.

@dahobbs9 @smerk85 Thanks for that information! I’ve been feeling guilty for not changing my filter yet but now I feel better.

@werehatrack This was me. Scattered throughout the country, all my former English teachers have been mad all morning for reasons they cannot name.
Just a total brainfart that I didn’t notice after multiple read-throughs. Fixing now! Thank you!
Manual says the replace filter light automatically turns on after 4500 hours of run time. so yea, “replace filter every 6 mo”
100 SQ ft. So you need how many for your home?
12? 20? 30? of these air purifiers?

Interesting, specs list says “Coverage: 100 Sq. Feet” but the product video says “Purify up to 285 sq ft in 30 minutes”
coverage: one football field (ceiling height 10cm)
