Charging Roulette

For Christmas, I got a nice exercise watch that can store music and a pair of bluetooth earbuds to go with it. My phone is old enough to have a headphone jack, as is my iPod Nano and my iPad. The watch was the first thing that required wireless headphones, and I was skeptical at first. Like, for the first minute or so. Now I never want to go back. It’s so much easier to listen to podcasts while doing chores around the house or taking the dog for a walk when you don’t to worry about some long tangled wire getting in the way.

My only compliant is that, since they don’t siphon power through the jack, they need to be charged. Or, I should say, it’s not that they need to be charged, but it’s that they need to be charged along with everything else: the aforementioned watch, iPhone, iPod, and iPad, not to mention my bike light or any of my wife’s stuff. There’s a chance that were we to plug every USB-chargeable device in at once, we might not have more than 5 or 6 open outlets left in the whole house.

But even this is a luxurious thought, given so few devices come with their own USB-to-outlet converters. And so, every day devolves into a game of charging roulette. Whose phone is deadest? Will we be riding our bikes at night? Am I planning to go for a jog in the morning? When’s the last time I plugged in the earbuds? We should probably charge the iPad before the trip, right? If I charge the exercise watch now, and the iPod overnight, will the drive to-and-from the grocery store be enough to sufficiently charge my phone, by way of the cigarette lighter?

But soon this will not be the case. Because today, I am not merely a copywriter; I’m a customer. I’m buying these Monster Charging Stations and I will forevermore go to sleep knowing that tomorrow, all will be charged and ready!
