@vodyanoi Do you feel an inexplicably deep-seated and pressing need to spend at least $20 finding out if you got enough usable stuff in the IRK to cover the expense? No just-a-buck-after-credits deal this time. It’s $29, and the most you can get refunded is ten dollars, assuming you buy something from one or more of the Marathon sales pages.
@catthegreat You should get a ten dollar (plus tax) refund in the next week or two. If I’m reading it correctly. Plus whatever you ordered and a box of glitter paint and Cleveland skyline. (Maybe you’ll get something great, you never know.)
Wife: you got a pressure washer
Me: I didn’t order a pressure washer
Wife: whats on the front step then?
Me: that looks like a pressure washer, but I didn’t order a pressure washer
Me: omg I think I know what this is, and I no longer regret it.
I will always enjoy ordering these. Maybe because I have a large number of family and friends who seem to have a need for items that I don’t need so it’s easy to give them away. Most of the IRK’s I have received, I usually find something in them that I am able to use. My favorites include the sports bras, kitchen items and luggage.
I am new to Meh, but a long time Wooter. I snagged an IRK and it lived up to its name and not its hype. Do the items in it cost at least what I paid- yes. Will I use any item in it- no. Will I ever buy another IRK- no.
@mahorn4 I think these days, the median Bag Of Crap is probably better than the median Instant Regret Kit. (Didn’t use to be that way), that said, there are some real gems out there with people getting full luggage kits, or nice Cuisinart appliances… BOC seem to be more a safe bet but IRKs I feel like more chance of getting something really special… that said, I’m seeing less and less special items as times go by unfortunately.
I can never get a BOC unfortunately. I made the mistake of installing Woots app and it always messes up the login for me when I try to buy something. It’s always a pain to log in to buy, BOC or not. (I need to delete their app to give myself a chance again)
@OnionSoup Thanks! I am pretty good at scoring a BOC and get just as much excitement and more useful stuff for $10 than the $40 I spent in this IRK. This IRK had a generic smartwatch, off brand sonic toothbrush, womens robe set, some media paper, a collapsible strainer, and a bag.
… and it always messes up the login for me when I try to buy something.
@mahorn4@OnionSoup The secret in the past was to use Woot’s login and payment for BOC due to the extra time for login verification on Amazon Pay. They have since moved to 100% Amazon Pay, however, so everyone is on equal footing now.
BTW, all of the login restrictions, requirements, and verifications are on Amazon’s end, so there’s not much that Woot can do to minimize that. If the server didn’t crash during a Woot-off, they’re doing good already. Still, it’s thousands and thousands of Wooters vying for dozens of BOCs each release, so there’s plenty of disappointment to go around. Same goes for the occasional $1 midnight madness and $1 WTF events.
I still laugh over what did crash their servers one time. A massive run on the aluminum foil. $1.99 for 250 sq.ft. was an excellent price!
@mahorn4 assuming the IRK was only $10, that doesn’t sound terrible for $10… Although if you only bought the other items to money back for the irk, I see the disappointment.
Ever since doing the woot app it seems to redirect me to my browser to sign in. Then when I sign in and it returns me to woot app, it doesn’t think I’m logged in or says I’m on an invalid page and makes me login in two or three times before it sticks.
Even boring items that don’t stress the server takes a good five mins to actually purchase.
I think I need to just bin the app, it makes buying anything from woot too stressful.
@narfcake@OnionSoup My trick for getting BOCs on the app is to log out and then back in on both the app and forum every so often to ensure I have not timed out. Then the AmazonPay button shows and I can purchase quickly. Good luck and thanks for your conversation.
I got one of those large rolling luggage bags that I really don’t need, two Casery phone grip and stands that I don’t know what I would use for, and three "TrackR pixel trackers that I bought before and all the batteries were dead. If I can find someone that needs the bag this will be pretty good.
Items in the IRK were either not usable for me or sent out already broken and inoperable. When I questioned about getting an item that had been returned inoperable (obviously repackaged) they said there is no warranty, so just throw it out.Don’t think I will order one of these again.
Well after talking to support about the package being damaged in transit. It was the ruling that because it is a IRK that nothing could be done even if it was crushed by the shipper in transit. So it was truly a double IRK one for the contents and the 2nd for the condition of the package and the fun Fed-ex had playing soccer with it and leaving it in the rain Bonus huh lol.
@Firegnome I got an empty box once. No tape, lid totally open. In that case they did send me another irk although it had far less stuff in it than the other irks posted so their warehouse must have been totally cleaned out by that irk (it was actually in the fuko era though, not the irk era).
Another time the box was barely taped and the only reason why there was something left inside is that the door mat was stuck to the loose tape inside which more or less blocked the large opening. That prevented the fuko bag from falling out. That was another too bad so sad. That one came with a damaged mail sticker on it. Mostly it comes taped shut, sometimes partly crushed and even if not, broken things inside - for example those cups not wrapped fly around in there enough to break. Broken glass is a risk in these so I am always careful when I open even if the box doesn’t rattle.
They used to throw in a square or two of Texas air (not enough to do any good and we’d list it as a fuko and irk box contents or sometimes note we got none). And then there was the bubble wrap joke period where a few folks got every single thing totally wrapped in bubble wrap and heavily taped. We’d joke, “Yea!!! Bubble wrap maybe I got something good.”.
@Kidsandliz I think the first couple of IRKs I got still had some Carrollton air bags in them, but none since. OTOH, they apparently ran out of the instabreak mugs with the fragile half-loop handles not long after, so I haven’t had to deal with much of the stab-hazard unpacking. Lately, though, the IRKs sent my way have been very meh. Lots of Casery, lots of craft paint, many Clevelands, a superabundance of pointless car USB chargers, and more than enough TrackRs. I’m dead certain that my lack of seriously damaged boxes is down to being just 295 miles from the point of shipment, resulting in FXG only having 24 hours to crush, stomp, pummel, inundate or otherwise do entertaining things to them.
2 hand sanitizers, blue bag, 12 tracks, 3 essential oil rollers, regret? Yes… My Woot boc was not impressive either oh well. Reveal thread over where… Not sure i care. My order link sent me here to discuss
