@PhysAssist yep plugged into a usb, cause my android auto isnt fully configured did an after market job just need to get the last firmware update so i can keep it in my pocket. Cant tell you how many times I’ve lelt my phone in my car
Usually in my bag on the passenger seat or in the back seat if I have a passenger. Despite my best efforts, my car and my iphone insist on connecting, like two hormone-driven teenagers. Good thing about this romeo & juliet scenario is I can see one the car’s screen (without fumbling for the actual phone) who/what is calling and if it’s something of import then I can pull over somewhere and address it. I’ve never figured out how to properly use the phone stuff in the car, and I figure I’d cause an accident trying to figure out which buttons to push to answer a call, so I just find a place to pull over and handle whatever it is.
@f00l Keeping it where the sun does shine is a reciept for an overheated phone, at least during the sunnier months, so your choice is 100% utilitarian and in no way shouldit be accorded and salacious or scatalogical inferences. So sayeth me. (This opinion is guaranteed to be worth what you paid me for it, and carries an antiwarranty to that effect.)
@Salanth Same. It felt like a very silly thing when I bought my car in 2020, but I love it now. I got a wireless CarPlay adapter, and now I just set my phone there and never have to look at it or touch it.
I have a mount that attaches to the CD player slot. Don’t need CDs when there are streaming music apps. (I do not have a modern car with modern technology.)
VW Jetta- shelf in lower dash in front of gearshift. Plugged in and connected to car Apple play. Google Map - phone -audio text - Amazon music - more… displayed on in dash screen. I don’t normally use the text function while driving but I will take and place calls occasionally.
It’s mounted to an air vent in my 2011 RAV4. Even though I don’t need GPS for simple tasks like running to the “big city” 30 mi away, that stretch of interstate has accidents on it so often that I fire-up my GPS every time I drive into town to make sure I’m not going to be stuck in a 2+ hour traffic jam.
BTW phone never gets answered if I’m driving.
IN my backpack ! I drive for quiet from the daily grind. Until the kids get in the car and take control of the radio.
No tik-tok, no streaming just local radio! Totally retro!
I’m trying to save their brains! Enjoy the unconnected times.
Stays in my pocket. I don’t need my phone while I’m driving. Whatever’s going can wait 'til I’m at my destination. If I need to use maps/gps, I look at them ahead of time to get an idea and then it stays in the cupholder and talks at me via bluetooth.
In a cup holder (just thrown in there, not mounted), in the seat gap filler, in the passenger seat, or in my pocket.
In my hand because I’m typing thi-SCREEEEEEECH
@NapkinEater
Pants pocket like a normal person.
@brennyn HOW DARE YOU CALL ME NORMAL!!!
@brennyn normal people wear pants while driving? Is that normal?
@brennyn Is that your phone or are you happy to see me?
Off and in the wristlet I carry. I barely tolerate carrying one but if I break down in the middle nowhere I do need one.
In my purse.
My pants pocket. Driving is for driving. Not yakking.
Either in my pocket or in the compartment in front of the shifter.
@ragingredd
Center console in front of shift lever.
@ragingredd I so read “shifter” as something else at first.

@ragingredd
About the same- our Samsungs are not configured for wireless charging, and won’t ever be, so they got plugged into the USB ports.
In a charging stand mounted by the gear shift. Cup holders are for drinks.
@hchavers I disagree

It’s in the existing cup holder rattling around.
Not sure. Can i borrow your phone to call it and find out?
In the center console plugged into the USB-C port. I use the car infotainment screen to control things, i.e. Android Auto, Spotify, etc.
@arieltf
Eggactly
Actually I keep it <ahem> where the sun don’t shine.
On vibrate.

; )
@f00l
Do you have the auto redial app?
@chienfou I bet @f00l pays spammers to take his number. Election season must have been a real pleasure.

My pocket, of course.
Mounted to the window, all the way off to the side. Or in a cupholder. Or in the passenger seat. Never much consistency with me.
On the built-in charging pad.

Mounted to side air vent so it’s not blocking any part of windshield and don’t have to move head to see gps instructions.

On the center console Qi charger.

In my purse–I’m not married to it…
Pass seat or cup holder or in a jacket pocket or backpack. Somewhere in the car with me. Usually.
Center console
In my pocket
In my jacket pocket
On the wireless charger built into my car
In my kitchen
The dozens of dollars I spent on a wireless CarPlay adapter made my life SO much better.
In my cup holder or my lap out if habit (so I know I didn’t forget it at the last place I was at). Also how I see the gps is from my lap.
Bungie-corded to the middle of the steering wheel
Plugged into this strange combination of a water bottle and a power pack that I was compelled to buy on Sidedeal.
I still have the second one because I can’t think of anyone who wouldn’t think I was for buying these.
