Scavenger hunt:: The good, the bad, the reviews Part 2
2Well I enjoyed it but there weren't a lot of people to continue posting. Rather than keep the one going and have me confused on points. Continue posting. So only 100 points. Monday Triple ends now. :( But Go ahead, Post away. This will end Friday at 11:59 PM.

So, the other one doesn't count or this is a new one or what?
@lisaviolet I think is a new one, just worth fewer points
@stardate820926 Exactly! the first one had higher points for the weekend! :) I don't want to have to look at timestamps... I just look to see if it's before my "close of contest" post then tally up points. :) Oh I may have forgotten to put stars are still worth 20 points.
Review: Sphero Limited Edition 2.0 (Refurbished) with Nubby Cover
For a remote-controlled ball, this certainly is a ball that is remotely controlled. This was the snazzy limited semi-transparent edition, which by now has been out-transparented by the new SPRK sphero. A lot of people found that this is the sort of gadget you play with once and thenceforth bring it out only to show it to people and pets. That is exactly true. One thing that keeps me from picking it up more often is knowing it probably needs a charge.
Driving it is a breeze, and the main Sphero app has unlockable "tricks" it can perform. It's quite durable, and I was surprised the missions the app sends you on are often "ram Sphero into things X times."
There are several games that use Sphero, but these mostly either suck or are the same I-guess-that's-neat feeling as Sphero itself. The augmented reality-ish zombie game you see on the box is garbage, for example, at least in my lighting. The funnest is ColorGrab, in which you compete with friends locally to see who can pick up the Sphero fastest when it lights up a given color. I'm serious. That is way more fun than it sounds. There are also games where Sphero itself is a controller, including "FlappyBall."
It's worth trying out all the apps you can find for it to see what you like. Most are free.
Overall, though, it's a fun thing to have, and now I don't have to debate with myself whether to get one next time it pops up here.
@darksaber99999 I want one of these- I hope they find an extra box in the warehouse.
@sammydog01 And I already got a second one - a regular edition - in a fuku. :D
@darksaber99999 Go ahead, remind me about how sad I was when my birthday fuku came. Just when I was getting over it.
What am I supposed to post here?
@connorbush You are suppose to go to the FESUSGL thread and post that you can draft at 10:00pm est as asked! We have already had one casualty.
@connorbush - meh product reviews for stuff you have purchased. Instructions are in the first post here, but the point values are different here in part 2.
AA Meh Shirt
These shirts all look good and fit well
And the price was quite low, which is swell
Thought they're comfy, their score
Out of five, would be four
'Cause I can't seem to wash out the smell
@christinewas That third line should say "though they're comfy". At least I didn't flip their and they're. I guess.
@christinewas - Ha ha - You inherited the limerick gene! Funny.
COPPER MOSCOW MULE MUGS
I've never been to Russia, but their mules must look very different than they do here in the states. Maybe it's the artist who made these copper scuptures who has never actually seen a mule, ever. Either way, these sculptures are terrible and look nothing like the face of a mule. I had expected to receive something like this at least:
But I guess that's what I get for buying something from a site who doesn't seem to care one way or the other... Meh.
So, to get something out of my purchase, I tried using these as cups, and boy of boy was this a great idea. I should have purchased 100s of these and sold them for $25 each, they're that darn good! For some reason the copper helps keep my liquid libations cold for much longer than non-copper cups. And it adds a fantastic hint of flavor to my gin and tonics. You know, this cup would be awesome for making that one drink, with the ginger beer and the lime, and the vodka. What do they call that drink?.... A Moscow mule... oh...
Review: NANOTEK STANDS 2-PACK
I purchased this device because I was most interested in two key functions of this multifaceted magical mount: "NanoTek micro-suction technology securely grips device and desk without messy or sticky adhesives" and "Perfect for smartphones."
The NanoTek Stand is not perfect for smartphones. Rephrase, the NanoTek Stand is not perfect for my smartphone. The Samsgun Galaxy S5 sport has a moderately dimpled/textured back with hundreds of tiny indentations. I am not an engineer; however, I would guesstimate that these indentations prevent the phone from sticking for more than one or two short moments of time.
The stand looks quite nice, modern, and the charging cable hole is a nice feature. It has become an art piece on my desk and is also a nice conversations starter: "Hey connorbush, what is that do-dad mounted upon your desk? 'Oh, well, co-worker, it is a useless phone mount that is not perfect for all smartphone' "Hmm, well I'll be."'
NanoTek Stand, not perfect for smartphones everywhere. I did use the second of the 2-Pak as a gift.
3 out of five stars.
Review: Foscam Wireless Camera
I already had one of these in the house when and so i purchased a second one to get more coverage. (i.e. to make sure the dog isn't getting into things when we're not there)
Setup is fairly simple. I was up and running in about 10 minutes. foscam has a good writeup on how to set this up with a dynamic DNS service. you'll also need to set up port forwarding on your router (takes all of 2 minutes).
Overall, the picture quality is ok. I've messed around with the motion/audio detection and they seem to work decently as well. (I used the option to email me pictures when it detects motion/audio) because of this feature, i figured out i have a ghost in the house that likes to make noise while we're gone. luckily, it doesn't bother us and we don't bother it. either that, or i've got the sensitivity dialed up too high.
2-for-Tuesday: MehGuyver Phone Accessory Bundles
Useless bundle! I couldn't disarm a bomb or break into a weakly defended bunker. Maybe I needed more chewing gum and paper clips...
