$56.00 at Amazon (New). Note that the top review about the camera freezing if pointed at a too-detailed scene is an old issue that has since been fixed. This stock is of current models and has been recently tested to prevent those problems. $159.99 List, $64.99 at Foscam
Hey bought one for my new baby coming up . could you send me a freebie to replace the gift you forgot to send from the baby shower u failed to attend ? Hey if u send me one I can use that one to keep a eye on the nanny and maybe catch her doing naughty stuff :) nanny's cute. ( just my girl dressed up as a maid )
@Pamela it makes up for a goat missing the fuku, not a person. @carl669 's rights as a person have been forfeit and he is now to blame for everyone missing the fuku
I have 2 of these running as baby cams. Sure beats the $300+ Motorola we have that has its own monitor. The Motorola quality is better but the darn monitor is constantly dying. Having the ability to use your phone is awesome! The appI have was $2 or $3 and allows multiple cameras to be monitored at once, money well spent.
@Stallion Yup, me too. They work really well as baby monitors and security cams. Tinycam for android works the best. I have a few of the newer models as well. These are really good though. Hopefully the refurbs are just as nice.
@Stallion Same. I use IP Cam Viewer on my phone, wife's phone, my 2 tablets, and wife's 2 tablets. It has a free version that works fine for multiple cameras. (even pan/tilt and mic/speaker control) I paid for it though just to get rid of the ads. It has a nice feature that lets you export the camera setup and/or email it to other devices so you don't have to manually set it up each time. Got my router set to port forward each camera so I can also view them remotely via the app.
Oh right this reminds me I still have the camera from the whole lantern mixup... I just payed the 20$. You're welcome. Guess I'll go find wherever I put the box now.
I wish they'd start selling the HD versions of these things... sharper, more frames per second. These are OK, but nothing special. $160 list?!? Don't make me laugh.
I have this exact model, think I paid $60 on Amazon. It isn't HD but it's more useful than you'd think. Good features if you run a local FTP server to send pics to. Bought 2 more, hope they aren't crap because refurbish.
I've had one of these for 2 years now. I have it overlooking my driveway from a 4 seasons room that is almost completely exposed to the elements. It freezes up in winter when it gets to below zero. Other than that I am very impressed (I paid $68 from Amazon). I'll probably buy a couple more to hang from various corners of my house (My house is in a very exposed location. Plus I enjoy the thought of my neighbors thinking that I run a large scale drug operation out of my basement. Maybe I do? Either way I'll be long gone before they find me out because I'll see them coming from like 25ft away)
@Panegyric Yes! You can even create guest logins through the built-in web interface. Allow guests to pan/tilt, but not change settings. You should totally do it!
@medz bwahahaha That would be amazing. I might have to. Damn you Meh, Woot, and all your friends! I blame you for all my poor financial decisions. haha
I just need a camera to put on the litter boxes so I can see which cat is pooing outside the litterbox! Will this camera work for that? I am so tech stupid, it's humiliating.
@mick lol! I once used this camera model for the very same thing. It has a built-in motion detection you can use to record, but I used ispy software for our security setup. One of our cats would poo outside the box. We had 3 boxes and kept them pretty clean. She would go #1 in there, but not #2. We had to put plastic down on the basement floor under the litter boxes so it wouldn't get on the floor. Damn cat. She had some other behavioral issues and I guess she didn't like the other cats... She is now in a loving single cat household.
Great camera. Have been using ours as a baby monitor for the last year and am very pleased with it. Figuring out how to connect remotely is a bit of a pain but there are good tutorials online as the instructions that came with it are lacking.
@jont the information on foscam's website says that they honor warranties only from authorized resellers and meh's not on their list. Otherwise they suggest contacting the seller for warranty help but that doesnt seem right either. Advice if there's a problem? Thinking of picking up another one to spy on the dogs...
Full product specs > Condition > ReFRUBished. Google gives me "about 29,800" results for reFRUBished. Have not checked the entire list to see whether today's occurrence on MEH is included.
I've had one for for a while. It's ok. Night vision works well, but the IR light will reflect off of windows, so it won't work in that type of setup. I found two Foscam iOS apps, a "US" version and a regular. They both seem to have different functions, so I keep both on my phone. There were some limitations with the networking- I couldn't change the hostname, so I had to go to my router and give the camera a static IP so it would be easier to find on my network. I can send my voice from my phone to the camera. That's fun for freaking out my cat.
@ifc Why hide it? I have a couple in windows looking out. Just know you'll have to turn the IR lights off (night vision) because they'll just reflect off the glass. So you'll have to rely on outdoor lighting. (we leave porch light on)
I've been wanting to get one for a while now. The quality isn't the best but for like a quarter of the price for most new ones I figured I'd give it a shot until I can get a better one.
Picked up two of these, only white left though. Been using two of the older ones for two years now as a low cost security system with the iCam app. Wireless cameras and the app sends me alerts when motion or sound is detected. Yeah, it's not HD/4K/etc/etc, but I also don't pay any monthly costs, it's all wireless and I generally know when someone is on my porch and then can watch and listen. Now I've got two more :)
I bought two of these last time they were up (or a very similar model of the same brand). The first one refuses to stay connected to wifi, shipped with a dead ethernet cable, and in general has not lived up to expectations. I haven't bothered unboxing the second.
I can confirm 100% that both of my cameras I received from this deal do indeed have the FOSCAM know defect of freezing when viewing a "too-detailed scene" such as tree with a gentle breeze in daylight. So either FOSCAM lied to MEH or MEH is lying to us! MEH also you should remove the paragraph under "Price Check" claiming these camera's do not have the "too-detailed scene" issue!
@lepmeh I bought one of these and mine hasn't had this problem. Was the problem specific to the hardware, or is it caused by the camera's firmware? Mine shipped with firmware version 11.37.2.54, so I wonder if yours is different in that regard.
@lljk Are you sure you don't have the issue? Ensure the camera is at highest resolution and ensure a detailed object (tree leaves) in bright light covers the entire sensor and then try to pan left to right. Both of my cameras will freeze and reboot as reported by many others. The issue is hardware specific to the camera sensor and unfortunately a firmware update will not help. However there is DIY solution that involves a custom USB cable that is directly connect to the camera DSP chip. There is 116 pages dedicated to the issue at foscam.us: http://foscam.us/forum/mjpeg-cameras-hanging-rebooting-based-on-image-data-t5769.html
@lepmeh Considering the circumstances, it is difficult to properly verify whether I've met the conditions for this happening. However, I had my camera pointed outside of my front window, looking at my street in bright daylight (through a screen, so there was plenty of detail, even), set to 640x480 resolution, and I didn't experience this problem. Weird.
@lljk I did not experience the issue while pointed out of a window, it appears if the image is framed that will reduces the amount of information the DSP has to process; as recommended the "too-detail scene" known defect was obvious after moving the foscam to my balcony while pointed at tree leaves about four feet away (full frame, lots of data).
Got the red blinking light and click of death. Found the problem online and it points to a faulty power brick. I tried another power brick I have for another device and the camera worked fine. I contacted foscam but since it is within 30days I was told to contact meh. Which I did. Just letting everyone know that a red blinking light and clicking is not normal potatoes!
@ARGuck It looks like ir is on when it doesn't need to be. I would flip on a light or something like that so the light isn't so low or like the other guy said, try flipping the ir on and off.
got 2. one came with a retractable usb cable and different branch of firmware than the other. it also works flawlessly while the other keeps disconnecting from wifi and freezing.
Both of my white ones seem to be working fine. Both were on the same firmware type, but one had an older version. (most foscam cameras have two firmware types for each camera). Both are working on wifi currently and image appears okay. I'll probably update the firmware on the one, mount 'em up and see how they do over the next few weeks. Thanks meh...
@lisaviolet I bought mine from the April 2 sale and received it a week later. Considering Meh's track record, maybe you will be receiving an LED lantern soon...
@lisaviolet ssshh! don't let @MEHcus know. we should have held out for better stuff. like a camera AND 3 bags of low sugar beef jerky. but now you've ruined it! damn you @carl669!! err... @lisaviolet!
@carl669 We had our trees (radically) trimmed (beetle infestation had killed the tops) on March 28th. The trimmers brought over a baby bird. The camera would have been perfect to watch the progress as s/he got bigger and I could see if s/he was finally eating the birdseed, but I have to go in the room, s/he flies at me, wanting the soft stuff I'd been syringe feeding hir. Today's the day I release hir back into the out, to find a husband/wife and get on with life. (And I need to start cleaning bird crap off of everything in that room.)
I really wish I'd had this camera the past couple of weeks.
@carl669 Mine got here Tuesday. I haven't set it up yet, since Boyd was released, I saw no immediate need for it (and I was still a little peeved that it took so long to get here...I'm funny like that).
And I was working on my MIL's Mother's Day present, which was finished yesterday. Well, except for the little card and envelope I have to make. I ordered some of those florist forks (the kind that flower arrangements come with). The vase and flowers are all hand made with paper, glue and ink pads.
@carl669 Thanks, my MIL is okay. She's got her child preferences, my husband is not the golden one, but he does the most for her. Isn't that the way it always is?
@carl669 It works! It works! I've had it all over the house and in my husband's shop (at the back of our property) and it works. I said "how cool is this?" and he said "how much was it?" lol I told him and he said "then it's pretty cool!"

@Stallion meh
If I order these will I get lanterns?
@Potatoboy I knew this was coming…
the answer is no.
@JonT too soon?
@JonT I mean, you say that, but, well, you know, logistics
@Potatoboy I wouldn't mind more lanterns. :D
I look forward to sending this back during a future 2 for Tuesday shipment.
Buy this and get a Coleman LED lantern instead.
I got one of these by mistake a couple of weeks ago for $20
@somf69 I could see me buying this for $20 on purpose.
@somf69 actually, this one is significantly better.
@somf69 Not $13 dollars better, especially when the one my SWMBO made me keep and pay for sits around unused at her insistence...
Do you guys smell that?
It's some traaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaash
Hello
Not ONVIF compatible. Boo!
640 x 480 @ 15 fps = MEH!
@narfcake if you blink 15/second it's exactly the same image and half the bandwidth. WIN!
I still don't have a sticker to return the last IP cameras Meh sent me unintended, or is that unattended?
@dmlivezey It's neither and you should feel bad.
nice! this almost makes up for me missing the fuko! frigid-disturbed-magic
@carl669 Nothing makes up for missing a fuko. Nothing but nothing makes up for missing every fuko.
@Pamela it makes up for a goat missing the fuku, not a person. @carl669 's rights as a person have been forfeit and he is now to blame for everyone missing the fuku
Does every cam come with a candy bar?
I have 2 of these running as baby cams. Sure beats the $300+ Motorola we have that has its own monitor. The Motorola quality is better but the darn monitor is constantly dying. So I can get free telephone support if I purchase from eBay or Woot, among others? But not Meh! Oh no!
@halnwheels community here = better than Foscam phone support. We can tell them to support y'all if it's needed though.
I have one of these I use for a baby cam, it works perfect, the resolution is totally adequate for baby monitor.
Is this indoor/outdoor? IOW, is it weatherproof?
@droopus nope, indoor only.
@thismyusername Bah. Ok thanks.
@droopus as long as this is protected it is fine outdoors. I have had one outside near my front door for years and have never had a problem.
@droopus put it in a zip-lock bag. Presto, good to go!
I wish they'd start selling the HD versions of these things... sharper, more frames per second. These are OK, but nothing special. $160 list?!? Don't make me laugh.
I use these and other foscams and have been pleased. This is a good deal to pick up SD versions for sure.
Bought another even though the refurbished one I bought last time these popped up ended up being DOA. Here's hoping this one's good out of the box.
Niel Ross is back, dammit. God dammit. Son of a bitch. Fuckin-a. Damn son of a bitch. Fuckin God dammit. Fuck yeah. Dammit. Shit.
@DonberKon I'm not certain how you feel about Neil...
@DonberKon "is" & "back" dilute your message.
I have this exact model, think I paid $60 on Amazon. It isn't HD but it's more useful than you'd think. Good features if you run a local FTP server to send pics to. Bought 2 more, hope they aren't crap because refurbish.

@brochenzo also, I use Blueiris to view remotely. Awesome software!
would this be appropriate for say...a live streaming tortoise cam? (that you charge other tortoises to watch of course)
@Panegyric How much to watch Zoya? My turtles get bored.
@Panegyric Yes! You can even create guest logins through the built-in web interface. Allow guests to pan/tilt, but not change settings. You should totally do it!
@sammydog01 @sammydog01 Well, we'd start off with a "why is there still snow around" sale and she'd accept a handful of dandelions
@medz bwahahaha That would be amazing. I might have to. Damn you Meh, Woot, and all your friends! I blame you for all my poor financial decisions. haha
@Sammydog01 @medz Well I missed it. Next time.. its mine.
I just need a camera to put on the litter boxes so I can see which cat is pooing outside the litterbox! Will this camera work for that? I am so tech stupid, it's humiliating.
@mick yes
@mick this camera will provide the photo-evidence. But changing the litter more than once every six months might help too.
@mick Poor cat is just trying to think outside the box and you are getting all up in his shit (lol) for it???
@RedOak No, it won't. Take my word for it.
@mick lol! I once used this camera model for the very same thing. It has a built-in motion detection you can use to record, but I used ispy software for our security setup. @march5th00 @JonT, so the following statement from the above specs is not accurate?
"Warranty: 1 Year Limited Foscam"
No Georgia Red. . . for that alone, meh.

@Momanon it doesn't matter which version you use. Both versions are Chinese Ministry of State Security certified. [Disclosure: this is a joke.]
Got the insteon in the last twofer deal. No need for this one. Meh.
whats a good blind to hide one of these sitting on the window sill (looking out onto the street)??
I'm sure you can find these for like $5 on Craigslist
@ifc Why hide it? I have a couple in windows looking out. Just know you'll have to turn the IR lights off (night vision) because they'll just reflect off the glass. So you'll have to rely on outdoor lighting. (we leave porch light on)

deja vu
VMP put to meh use 2x. thanks
automatic-noteworthy-cat.
s'how I know purchasing one was the right decision. because automatic cat. automatic noteworthy cat.
First time Meh'er. Looks like a fun bunch! Looking forward to getting my cams! Will be back again!
@frankinchi prepare to become sleep-deprived if you live in the Eastern time zone and need to wake up early.
@frankinchi Welcome to hell!!!!!:)

i just sent mine back yesterday, i had been on vacation, then sick, and then it was just not easy to bring such an unwieldy box to work to ship off.
I can confirm 100% that both of my cameras I received from this deal do indeed have the FOSCAM know defect of freezing when viewing a "too-detailed scene" such as tree with a gentle breeze in daylight. Is anyone else getting a TERRIBLE video quality?
@ARGuck my first one I opened is fine. Trying flipping the IR on and off a few times.
@ARGuck It looks like ir is on when it doesn't need to be. I would flip on a light or something like that so the light isn't so low or like the other guy said, try flipping the ir on and off.
Just opened mine... No antenna. Useless hunk of plastic now. -_-
@grum If meh doesn't fix it for you, you can probably find a cheap antenna on ebay or somewhere else on the webs for a few bucks.
got 2. one came with a retractable usb cable and different branch of firmware than the other. it also works flawlessly while the other keeps disconnecting from wifi and freezing.

Mine doesn't show it's shipped yet. Are you guys posting about the original sale or the one on April 2nd?
@lisaviolet April 2nd for me. I didn't order any from the original shipment
@lisaviolet mine doesn't show as shipped either. i blame the anti-perks of being goat.
@carl669 Maybe the goats are getting something way cool!
@lisaviolet maybe it's one of these!
@carl669 Ikea has a camera?
@lisaviolet I bought mine from the April 2 sale and received it a week later. Considering Meh's track record, maybe you will be receiving an LED lantern soon...
@lljk Not a lantern. Please, no lanterns...
@lisaviolet @carl669 you both should have received an email on this, let me know if not.
@MEHcus We did. https://meh.com/forum/topics/have-you-blamed-anything-on-carl669-today#552d743459d0755001f3918b
@lisaviolet ssshh! don't let @MEHcus know. we should have held out for better stuff. like a camera AND 3 bags of low sugar beef jerky. but now you've ruined it! damn you @carl669!! err... @lisaviolet!
@carl669 @lisaviolet sorry we've already juiced all of our low sugar beef jerky
@carl669 When you're right, you're right.
I really wish I'd had this camera the past couple of weeks.
@lisaviolet that's very cool. i blame you for thawing my ice cold goat heart a little.
@carl669 I released him just a little bit ago. It was kind of sad, but he needs to be with other birds. We had named him Boyd. Boyd Bird.
Mine is finally supposed to be delivered tomorrow.
@lisaviolet got mine wednesday. set it up today. took about 10 minutes and i was up and running.
@lisaviolet nice! you must like your MIL to go through that effort.
