@Thumperchick or @dave or @skdmmehs or @Irk or anyone else can you please answer above questions? Also, can you paint them with Krylon paint for a better color to fit a persons taste?
Sorry, I don’t have the assembly instructions, I’ll see if we can get them posted in the morning.
Honest review I got from someone who built one in our office was “a little creaky when sitting down & getting up” but he had none of the “screw holes don’t match up” issues mentioned over on Woot.
@nalesean 90 days…so once the summer is over and they go in storage I wonder what they will look like when you want them for the next season? Based on @Dannohung s description it makes me wonder - but if he’s correct then maybe you will need the warranty before that.
But thank you for your reply.
@WTFsunshine yeah, my chief concern lies in condition received, the onus of maintenance for anything I buy I place squarely on my shoulders. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ; my wife wanted 'em so we’ll risk it. Meh has never failed to resolve issues in the past. I was part of the lantern / security camera fiasco, as well as having received broken things, wrong things, etc.
@narfcake I bought these from Woot 2 weeks ago, put them together in about two minutes and they look great. Instructions were simple too. Should have waited, these are cheaper by $3 each
@KDemo No, those are different. Those are chairs from the deck of the U.S.S. Adiron. They’re real live historical maritime history you can rest your laurels in. You should’ve stocked up!
@cengland0 Damn you beat me to it! I had my picture all edited and ready to go!
But 22 minutes after you it still looks like this:
(Sorry could not help myself )
Living in NH, we have many roadside outfits happy to sell one of these for around 30 bucks, cash only. But the entertainment value of these posts…! Never find that there.
I kinda want a couple of these, but I think I’ve maxed out my deck furniture needs. I’d guess I’d go for the red one, but really, not sure where I’d put them.
@ACraigL hate that for ya. after a long dry spell we got new neighbors a coupla years ago, now it’s like hey, wanna beer? our deck or your fire pit? great!
@pskemp2 In all my homeowner-years, neighbor hangouts is something that’s never quite worked out for me. On one side they’re never there – a business in China, I think. On the other – high incompatibility, as most of their kids far younger than ours. We socialized for a while when we first moved in, and they have a daughter the same age as ours, but they never really got along and are very different people now that they’re older. So that makes sense. But all adds up to awkwardness. We say hi and are friendly, but nothing more than that.
@laidbackoh Until that fateful day when the chemical bonds finally go “fuck this outdoor life” and the chair spontaneously disintegrates when you try to sit on it.
Just what makes that little old ant
Think he’ll move that rubber tree plant
Anyone knows an ant, can’t
Move a rubber tree plant
But he’s got high hopes, he’s got high hopes
He’s got high apple pie, in the sky hopes
So any time your gettin’ low
’Stead of lettin’ go
Just remember that ant
Oops there goes another rubber tree plant
Oops there goes another rubber tree plant
Oops there goes another rubber tree plant
I’ve always like the look of this style of chair. I don’t dare sit in one though, they look very low to the ground. And deep. And leaning back. Very comfy while you’re in it, but…
@mamawoot I have plans for one of these styles of chairs I downloaded aspirationally over 10 years ago. Still, haven’t made them yet. I prefer chairs over couches, and tables over booths in restaurants too. But if I ever do make them, they aren’t going to be so low-slung.
@kathologist Well that’s a company I didn’t expect to see referenced here. Their stuff fascinates me, but the current draw of tubes makes me think I’d need to be fairly heavily invested and dedicate a row with their power solution.
I was just thinking about the old Waldorf Q today and how yellow that thing was…
@seraphimcaduto I love ours, too! One thing though- one of the screw holes was cockeyed. Had to re-drill it. I have back and hip pain and sitting upright in chairs is painful. I love the relaxed angle. Those poor TB patients!
I wanted 3. Meh checkout has a glitch and wont let me order. It gave me time for research and came up with this about rubberwood:
“It is not suitable for outdoor use, as rain can leach the protective chemicals from the wood, exposing it to fungus and insect attacks. Excessive moisture will also cause the wood to warp and rot.”
Well I thought these were going to sit out on the deck in a very high humid location.
Rubberwood is perfectly good for cheap end tables, picture frames, or even an entertainment cabinet. Maybe a book case that isn’t going to be loaded completely full of books. That sort of thing.
Don’t put any weight on it though. It’s a cheap, non-durable, lightweight wood.
I wouldn’t buy these unless you plan on being done with them in a few weeks. You want an Adirondack chair that’s going to last forever? Get one made out of a composite material. Sure it’s “fake”, but they’re not going to splinter and they’ll feel about the same as a freshly sanded and painted wood chair.
Just don’t toss them in the garbage. They’ll literally last forever.
@DannoHung We go to Amish Country every once in a while and since they are just about in every store they’re pretty cheap. Even better is getting the matching stools to go with them. But thank you for the information on rubber wood.
There’s not a single thing in the universe that will literally last forever. However, if these were rated for a billion years, I might consider purchasing. That would be literally forever enough. But somehow I feel that they still won’t survive the next three and a half years, as you may note that they were not rated by the manufacturer to withstand a Trump presidency.
And now you can buy them. This makes me wonder, after nearly an hour, how many visitors actually DON’T read the forum’s? I think at this point everyone that has, has decided not to buy. A case-study must be made, correlation of visitors visiting the forums, length of delay before orders, and number of cancellations AFTER viewing the forums once they’ve ordered.
@craigthom But they WILL sit in a Rubbermaid chair. It’s a shame Rubbermaid stopped making them, they were really durable. I wonder if this Rubberwood chair would stand up to the same abuse?
@WTFsunshine Well, Buddy’s ad did come up as #3 in my google search for the model number, and meh.com came up as #8. So the internet seems to be saying that if you live in NJ (which I don’t… not that theres anything wrong with that) then go for it.
Okay - I’m confused- why is one state a totally different color? Did they buy one and a half or since darker did they buy two and a half? Or did the other states that are darker then one but not quite the color of two and lighter than three buy a half of one? You’re messing with my head here Meh!
@WTFsunshine Are you referring to Oregon being a different color? The colors refer to the quantity of sales in each state. The darker the color, the more that was purchased. There are no half purchases involved. Could be Alabama bought zero, Florida bought 10, Arizona bought 20, Oregon bought 30, and Montana bought 40.
The circular graph is about each individual sale. When you make a purchase, how many of those individuals bought 1 chair, 2 chairs, or 3 chairs.
@sammydog01 Normalized for population? When did that happen? I remember people complaining about California always being darker because they always had the highest population. I do not recall seeing a discussion where it was normalized.
I would not be overly concerned with the (often repeated and somewhat outdated) Wikipedia entry being quoted in comments here about rubber wood being unsuitable for outdoor use. Searching into professional industry and academic sources on the contemporary processing and pressure treatment of rubber wood specifically for outdoor use yields more practical advice. Any pressure treated wood will be susceptible to leaching, warping, fungal growth, etc. left uncoated and directly exposed to the full environment. Paint, polyurethane, and other common, durable applications greatly extend the outdoor service life. Using the items in non-direct exposure, porches, cabanas, pop-ups, etc., is also a practical outdoor use with substantial service life. I bought three of these chairs at this price and upon inspection will decide if I wish to apply a coat of poly before using them in my outdoor gazebo. They will certainly outlast truly “cheap” pine products that typically selll in this price range.
@JoseBandito Did you read somewhere that these were pressure treated? You might be giving the manufacturer too much credit. Not all wood is pressure treated as that significantly increases the costs of raw materials.
@cengland0 It’s not a matter of crediting anyone, but a matter of being more broadly experienced and informed. I have purchased far “riskier” highly discounted wood furniture items than these because I know they will not be left out in direct sunlight and the elements, nor left outside buried in snow all winter as many folks do. Anything left out uncared for is going to have issues, treated or not. I have made numerous pieces of inexpensive patio furniture out of untreated timber, appropriately finished them, and have received well over 5 years of good covered patio use before needing replacement. I do, however, totally agree that if someone needs to leave furniture totally exposed year round, I would invest more money into higher end wood crafted items or simply by cheap plastic molded stuff. Frankly, they carry painted rubber wood lawn chairs at several discount outlets near me that I could lay hands on and inspect, but I was not willing to pay over $50-$100. The chairs looked mass produced on automatic machinery with good fit and mechanics (I’m far more concerned with mechanical, functional quality than environmental robustness) but the price point was not right. The Meh chairs looked identical to those I have laid hands on (assembly, fastener locations, etc.) and I do have some experienced based faith in Meh not selling complete crap. Whenever I have had a problem or concern, Meh took care of it quickly and with their good humor. Once again, for $38 for an item commonly selling at over twice the price, the convenience and confidence of a Meh purchase is fine with me.
Nice comfortable chair. Easy to assemble, fair quality, but armrests could have been de-burred (they have sharp edges). Figure someday it might need repainted, and I’ll sand it then.
@PhysAssist I did some research and I’m reasonably certain I’ve sat in this model of chair before at length, and I’m ~330lb, so if you’re at or below there, you ought to be fine. It’s a lawn chair, so it’s not like you’re going to be sitting in it all day like an office chair.
sounds great. I’ll take two. I tried five different browsers and I can’t buy this thing. checkout won’t let me buy them. what gives? I know you’ve still got some.
Damn- I have a firemens wife having a bachelorette party coming up and when I saw “rubber wood” I thought I wouldn’t have to go to one of those websites to order:
@therealjrn The one above belowi story he snuck in after I couldn’t edit. @belowi I don’t want to ponder. I’m just surprised people come back to rate it. @jbrookebarrow Thanks .
@RiotDemon I tried but when I went on what was apparently my last edit I couldn’t get it in and couldn’t delete. As I was typing the apology someone else posted in between. Hence it made no sense. So I apologize for posting an apology that made no sense once the apology was typed.
@WTFsunshine I meant, instead of trying to edit, just hit the reply arrow to yourself so you can add on to what you wrote. That way your comment stays tied to the original post.
No need to apologize. Just trying to help make it clearer for the future.
Disappointing, had it in storage and took it out to finally put it together and it was missing pieces. I can probably buy some 1x2s to make it work though.
These aren’t the same ones that Woot sold a few weeks ago, are they? Because those ended up being complete piles of shit.
https://tools.woot.com/forums/viewpost.aspx?postid=7170901
@narfcake Thanks, narf, you just saved me some money buddy. I have some kittens I’m going to ship to you in gratitude.
@narfcake ugh, those posts about the condition they came in are atrocious
@therealjrn Fucker. Catshirtswoot already sent me a cat before. I don’t need any kittens!
/image catshirtswoot 1
@narfcake Oh god, I’m not gonna take a chance on that shit!
@narfcake LOL
Holey crap, those were a mess!
Any confirmation one way or another On whether these are the same? I’ll assume they are until we hear different.
@mamawoot No idea, hence the question from me.
@mamawoot I tried cross referencing the brand name listed on woot and the model # on meh but only get hits from meh and woot sites
@narfcake Thanks for the heads up. You saved us some cash.
Helloooo Meh! How about an answer to the question?
@mamawoot The pix that woot use of the assembled chairs don’t show any screws or fasteners at the connection points, whereas meh’s does. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@narfcake Ours are not “Cool-Living” branded but I honestly can’t tell you more than that (not having bought the Woot ones).
@dave could you post a pic of the assembly instructions? They numbered all the parts and that is posted on woot
@Thumperchick or @dave or @skdmmehs or @Irk or anyone else can you please answer above questions? Also, can you paint them with Krylon paint for a better color to fit a persons taste?
@WTFsunshine at least these are warranted by meh instead of sketch email and disconnected phone
Sorry, I don’t have the assembly instructions, I’ll see if we can get them posted in the morning.
Honest review I got from someone who built one in our office was “a little creaky when sitting down & getting up” but he had none of the “screw holes don’t match up” issues mentioned over on Woot.
@dave thanks, I will chance it, and trust y’all to make it right if they are broken and fall apart immediately like the woot ones
@nalesean 90 days…so once the summer is over and they go in storage I wonder what they will look like when you want them for the next season? Based on @Dannohung s description it makes me wonder - but if he’s correct then maybe you will need the warranty before that.

Meh has never failed to resolve issues in the past. I was part of the lantern / security camera fiasco, as well as having received broken things, wrong things, etc.
@nalesean Good for you! Yes always listen to your SO they are always right - you’ve been trained very well.
@narfcake I bought these from Woot 2 weeks ago, put them together in about two minutes and they look great. Instructions were simple too. Should have waited, these are cheaper by $3 each
@dave thanks, then I can DIY from the plans with scrap “realwood”
@pskemp2 Alternate option: Popular Mechanics.

@narfcake especially like the 3D, cool!

How well will this work for sitting on and screaming at the damn kids to get off of my lawn?
@lichme
/giphy get off my lawn
@sammydog01 Hope it wasn’t a chamber pot!
@sammydog01 giphy did good this time! Hate the news and now I love that woman!
@lichme You won’t get the height, or menacing nature of the rocking chair with these.
@lichme No smart kid would take you seriously. These chairs are for laid back folks.
These chairs might actually attract traffic on your lawn.
@lichme It’s the one truly good use for them. but you have to douse them with lighter fluid and burn them after each use. or sit in bird shit.
@sammydog01 Excellent shot!
True story - Driving through a backward town, I saw a sign advertising “Adiron Deck Chairs”.
@KDemo No, those are different. Those are chairs from the deck of the U.S.S. Adiron. They’re real live historical maritime history you can rest your laurels in. You should’ve stocked up!
@djslack -
So were they on the deck, or were they made from the deck? Still using my laurels, but I will find a place to park them when I’m done.
I want to buy, I can’t buy. Site Broken?
@michaelahess me as well
@nalesean Ditto! What’s happening to this crazy mixed up world where a person can’t even buy adirondack chairs at midnight?
@melonscoop I know, right?
@michaelahess Looks like nobody’s buying. Either site problems or nobody wants this crap. And this is 28 minutes after midnight.
@cengland0 Damn you beat me to it! I had my picture all edited and ready to go!
But 22 minutes after you it still looks like this:
(Sorry could not help myself )
“Do I want one?” “Yes, other Humper, yes you do”
@Thumperchick smeh??
@Humper go for it.
@Thumperchick But do I want too? Or even two?
@Thumperchick @Humper
/giphy whipped
@xarous I’m sure you want all of the chairs!!
Just not impressed at the properties
@rjquillin Perishable and stains easily. And bugs like it. Yep, not too impressive.
Living in NH, we have many roadside outfits happy to sell one of these for around 30 bucks, cash only. But the entertainment value of these posts…! Never find that there.
@AmazingChicken Sure but can you get good bar b que and bluegrass
I kinda want a couple of these, but I think I’ve maxed out my deck furniture needs. I’d guess I’d go for the red one, but really, not sure where I’d put them.
Decision made for me. Red is sold out.
Thanks, procrastination!
@ACraigL nice deck! Put them on the lawn…?
@pskemp2 Nah, they’ll never get used there. We love our deck – venturing off it would be like talking to the neighbors. Something we just don’t do.
I’m an Adirondacker. I have slept (passed the fuck out) in those on random persons porches. We just called em chairs.
@dickie541 of course and chinese eat food
Assembly? uh HELL NO…LOL
The plastic ones are much more comfortable, much lighter, much cheaper, and more durable after 8 years in the weather.
@laidbackoh and still covered in bird shit.
@laidbackoh mine routinely crack at the junction of the armrest and chair back. And I’m not a large dude.
@laidbackoh Until that fateful day when the chemical bonds finally go “fuck this outdoor life” and the chair spontaneously disintegrates when you try to sit on it.
@cranky1950 Name checks out
@laidbackoh 'was pondering the same thing.
@jbrookebarrow Truth in advertising that’s me.
Gawd help me. How wide is the seat (measured on the inside)?
@therealjrn meh. nevermind. I’m not going to take the gamble. The colors are a bit garish anyway.
I want this, but I can’t tell you which ones I want, so I can’t give you money. Help.
@platojello Same for me… wtf?

@brhfl Metasonix is my hunney. I even stuff some of those boards! Yar! I can solder!
@kathologist I just put my yellow chair together and my wife loves it. She asked me why I didn’t buy more…first time EVER for a purchase from meh.
@seraphimcaduto I love ours, too! One thing though- one of the screw holes was cockeyed. Had to re-drill it. I have back and hip pain and sitting upright in chairs is painful. I love the relaxed angle. Those poor TB patients!

I never liked those chairs. Especially after they get covered in bird shit. I always thought web folding chairs were just the bees knees.
@cranky1950 We used to routinely flip our’s over when we weren’t using them - haven’t thought of that for ages.

Rubberwood? Sounds like a Thai lady-boy club. Pass.
Uh, oh, looks like meh is getting undersold by another seemingly mediocre operation:
http://buddyssmalllots.com/pdf/catalog.pdf
@belowi Those aren’t bad prices for wooden chairs or Levi’s or sunscreen. Are they reputable?
@WTFsunshine Well, Buddy’s ad did come up as #3 in my google search for the model number, and meh.com came up as #8. So the internet seems to be saying that if you live in NJ (which I don’t… not that theres anything wrong with that) then go for it.

Nope.
You tryin’ to tell me I’ve already spent enough money here?
So it’s giant room decor. Gotcha.
Not to give away any personal information, but just what is the maximum weight of people/person these are approved for?
@PhysAssist would also like to know this
@PhysAssist I’m a person of generous girth, and if you have to ask…you might be too big for this ride.
@PhysAssist Assuming these are the same chairs offered by Woot.com in an earlier link, the limit is 250 pounds.

I filled out my rubberwood bingo card in no time reading this one.
It worked!
Your order number is: functional-neutral-pesto
@HoneyIMHome Condolences on your loss.
Damn- I have a firemens wife having a bachelorette party coming up and when I saw “rubber wood” I thought I wouldn’t have to go to one of those websites to order:

Sorry if I offended anyone but it’s a true story.
@WTFsunshine What story? I didn’t hear it. Can you tell it again?
@WTFsunshine
I wonder why only three stars?
@WTFsunshine I laughed.
@therealjrn The one above belowi story he snuck in after I couldn’t edit. @belowi I don’t want to ponder. I’m just surprised people come back to rate it. @jbrookebarrow Thanks .
@WTFsunshine What post? can you repost it?
@therealjrn No way am I reposting that one! One sex post is my limit!
@WTFsunshine it would be more clear if you responded to your own post above instead of making a new post.
@WTFsunshine I can’t imagine it was worse than the cake with the giant dildo that @carl669 posted.
@sammydog01 That cake had a fun surprise inside!
@RiotDemon Copy - thanks-Roger Wilco and out.
@sammydog01 I will have to look that one up!
I will not giphy “heated-darling-club”. I will not. I will, however, enjoy sitting in my adirondack chairs on my eventual patio.

Disappointing, had it in storage and took it out to finally put it together and it was missing pieces. I can probably buy some 1x2s to make it work though.
