Pretty sure years ago I got one of their lights marketed as a camping light, iirc it wasn’t too bad, and felt durable. I’ve actually still got it, somewhere
Question: How many lumens does each lamp section have or total lumens for the string of 3 lamps?
Answer: Hi there, the Power Practical Under Cabinet LED Light Kit for Kitchen - 3 Lighting Strips, Power Supply, Motion Sensor, Mounting Brackets for Lights, has 144 Lumens.
Power Practical Inc Seller · February 3, 2023
@2many2no that’s pretty dim, a 60W incandescent bulb (I’m old, its the only way I can relate to these things) generated about 800 lumens, I would consider 600 to be sufficient for an under-the cabinet counter task light, two of these would only be 288, so ambience at best, it seems.
@hchavers I’m in that small Venn diagram union of those old enough to appreciate that reference and current enough to use meh. I love old time radio…‘theatre of the mind’…
@Kyeh@thechilipepper0 I just re-watched that a few days ago. I seem to recall not understanding all the hype at the time, but I liked it much better the second time around - older and wiser perhaps?
I have some similar ones I use for under the bed. Lights up floor so I don’t have to turn on a bedside light and wake up the significant other. Perfect for those nighttime bathroom trips.
Also used under our kids crib with the motion sensor and never woke her up. I’ll take another set.
Really, Meh???
I have to re-enter my email & password, then endure three pages of Captcha just to click the Meh button?
Especially since it’s nearly every day because EVERYTHING now is BOC quality at best.
You guys are getting on my last nerve…
@jgaines911 in case they sell em again, yes the 6 pack came as two 3 packs each with complete kit (power supply, ir/motion hub, remote, various extra cables, mounting brackets, screw kits, clips)
Meh, Did you change something with the deal page? I’m logged into meh but when I go there, it asks for credentials. My password manager doesn’t recognize it so it is a PITA to log in. Too much trouble, in fact.
I know this is pathetic and off topic, but the story today where “It’s not your fault” was repeated meant a lot to me, so much so that I think I was meant to see it even though it’s about kitchens here.
I had a stroke in November. I have language problems summed up as Wernicke Aphasia. People pick at me every day over it, including other long haulers. I got dragged for a single letter wrong on a tweet I couldn’t correct for two days, and I was doxxed on Reddit and Twitter for it. It was a response to the lack of oxygen and its impact on the heart.
So thanks meh.com writer guy. I really appreciate you. Again, I know this is about lights in cabinets, but I needed a win. You gave me one.
@jfsiv
Looks like the morningsave deal only includes 2 power sources. So you’re limited to two locations. Granted each one can be longer than the meh deal…
Personally I’d rather have the option for more locations.
@chienfou@troy So two 6-packs on Meh gets you 4 power packs, vs. the 2 power packs on the 12-pack at Morning Save. Hmmmm… 10 bucks for two additional power packs isn’t a bad deal.
Received my 6-pack of lights today. All work properly, except the batteries in both remotes were dead. But I borrowed a fresh battery from another device and verified that at least everything functions.
Included in the box is a cable not mentioned in the instructions or even listed in the parts list. It is a “Y” cable, but both female and male on the split side. Any ideas?
@djsteve thats the infinite power cable, you plug it into itself then the led strips into it… and presto! no power block needed… I could be wrong however.
The length of cord is not long enough for what I want it for (accent lighting for a large 6-shelf cabinet). Anyone know if any patch cables exist to lengthen the distance between each light?
I’m trying to find additional extension cables but coming up short. If anyone is willing to offer/sell theirs to me I’d be most grateful. I’ll pay for shipping obviously. Help?
they seem to work well, they do show up as dots in reflections but honestly a lot do with the strip lighting… they do diffuse a bit but good diffusion is always a pricy item…
the kit seems pretty complete (hint if your missing items lift up the white tray they are under the remote hump).
I have left a set on for over an hour and they are still working… so before I go mount these permanently… what’s wrong with them? Why are they here?
@thismyusername This is the issue I’m having with them: I followed the instructions and hooked them all together to ensure they were working. At first not all strips lit up, had to make sure each connector set was firmly seated together (foreshadowing) Even used the undocumented Y adapter to supply power between two runs of three strips. All seems good.
Okay, so time to pull them apart so that I can easily mount them under my kitchen cabinets… They don’t want to come apart though, the connectors are holding together very tightly, and I’m afraid of damaging the connectors if I give them a hard yank apart.
Finally with some persistent rocking and tugging, I got two strips apart. Hmm, I don’t remember the connector pins protruding past the end of the male connector sleeve though. I grab the unused Y adaptor for reference – No, the pins are supposed to be completely covered by the female connector. Sure enough, I now have a loose 4-pin jumper block in my hand, which I’ll have to try to reseat inside the female connector with tweezers.
Problem is, I can’t be certain that I haven’t already irreversibly damaged one or more light strips without connecting them together again to test them. At which point I’ll want to take them apart for mounting.
The worst part is that I’d already bought a long strip of white LEDs from IKEA to do my own under cabinet kitchen lighting. But bought these anyway on impulse thinking that they’d be less hassle, and the included mounting hardware and diffusion sleeves would reduce some of the headaches I’d have to deal with. The motion sensor being the icing on the cake.
Now I’m wondering if I just need to chuck this set in the bin, try to get it mounted and hope it works, or see if I can cannibalize parts to aid with the installation of my bare light strip?
@ciabelle@thismyusername
FWIW I had success separating them with the same tool that used for phone screen repairs. Like a strong guitar pick almost.
The pins are designed to come out, then even provide replacements in the kit. They can be pulled out with a pliers and seated with a narrow firm object between the pins.
I do not think I could regret this purchase more. These are terrible. The connections are a nightmare. Even the shitty little adhesive strips are garbage.
@customers Hey there! We’ve got the Luminoodle under-cabinet lighting you purchased up on Meh again today. How’d you like 'em? Head on over to today’s topic if you’re willing to share your experience, boom or bust!
@troy they’re decent for the price. Basically what you’d expect looking at them. Nothing fancy, they work.
Since you emailed me about something i bought though, why don’t you weigh in on the two pack robovac thread.
@valkriered wants me to add that it’s important to disconnect and reseat the connectors with tweezers- if you don’t do that, they won’t work reliably, if you do, they’re great
I’m purchasing a second 6-pack for the hallway, the first set was used in a workspace where I needed to light some racked up gear (synthesizers on an A-Frame).

@sixsmith me too. At the time, it was one of the few camp lights that worked both 110V or 12V. Expensive for what it was, but very good quality.
I’m in for a 6-pack of these, considering the price.
/giphy gloomy-trusting-rest
dammit.
I have these- they replaced a set of halogens I installed a decade ago, and despite the silly name, they f’n rock.
seriously- if you need undercabinet lighting, you will not regret these.
when it’s dark- they make making margaritas easier to make when they’re on.
@alacrity but will they make them easier to drink?
@Kidsandliz only if they’re not plugged in.
@alacrity sold.

@alacrity @Seeds that gif looks more like a “helpful-pervasive-pupper” to me.
Specs seem to be lacking any indication of the length of the light strip…
Did I miss that?
Found it on the box.
20 inches.
@Euniceandrich The box itself says 20 inch light strips.
@Euniceandrich Came here for this. Thank you.
Have you run this price by Jared yet?

And some of those other Meh faces could have stuck around, instead of flying off and deserting it.
Hmm… as the song goes… you light up my life…
Per the Amazon Answers:
So, not very bright?
@2many2no as the song goes, "Blinded by the light. . . "
@2many2no @stolicat Something in the 300+ range would be like a 40W incandescent… For a visual representation of 150 lumens:
https://www.amazon.com/Keychain-flashlight-lantern-waterproof-reading/dp/B09JP21VVD
It’s “cheap flashlight” strength, which under a desk, isn’t bad.
Get rid of the Shadow, so only you know now.
(Those that get that probably don’t visit Meh.)
@hchavers I’m in that small Venn diagram union of those old enough to appreciate that reference and current enough to use meh. I love old time radio…‘theatre of the mind’…
Cheaper than some of the crappy stick-up lights… why not?

@blaineg @macromeh @thechilipepper0
I don’t know, I haven’t seen it either! But I probably should.
Google sez 1 candle puts out 12.57 lumens. so 144 lumens is about a dozen candles.
In the morning to all the noodle boys and girls out there. I’ve got my pasta Glock locked and loaded.

Are these plug in or hard wired? I see what looks like a wall wart, but none of the pics show the prongs.
@enville Yes, specs indicate power source is wall plugin, so AC 110V; I also saw the plug thingie in one of the pictures.
@hockeybum Thank you, when I clicked on “more specs” it took me to the discussion page with no specs on it
@enville @hockeybum Except wall wart means they are really DC. But you’d have to figure out how to power them if you want DC or to hardwire.
/giphy relieved-nasty-wool
From the pictures, looks like a 6 pack is simply two 3 packs. That would mean two power supplies, right?

If you are wanting two of the 6 packs, there is a better deal over at MorningSave
It’s a 12 pack for $30.

@adamselby I figured I wouldn’t be the only one with this problem. Glad my comment helped.
@sbbish just got them today with the same issue. Neither remote worked. Thank you. I’ll run off to target and grab a few to check

Included in the box is a cable not mentioned in the instructions or even listed in the parts list. It is a “Y” cable, but both female and male on the split side. Any ideas?
@djsteve They can be used to connect the power supply midway in the string if the AC outlet is not at either end.
@djsteve
It’s at the bottom right of the 1st pic though…
@djsteve thats the infinite power cable, you plug it into itself then the led strips into it… and presto! no power block needed… I could be wrong however.
