Look Smart Trivia: Modern Art Mashup
6As we did with our Vice-Presidential Mashup, this time we’ve shuffled our five clues together into one image. One the one hand, I’ve destroyed the compositional integrity of these five great 20th-century works. On the other, it’s a deconstructionist commentary, recontextualizing this source material to tease out hidden correspondences and meanings (I’m not). The first player to name the five works and their creators that I mashed up here wins a $5 Meh coupon. Insert signoff catchphrase here!

tough one!
That García piece isn’t even listed in his full catalogue on http://www.torresgarcia.com/.
@cinoclav Now that you’ve answered this very difficult one (and I assume you’re correct), you know tomorrow’s is going to be dead simple, right?
@cinoclav Nice work, per usual. Found/identified the first four but could not for the life of me get 5.
@lehigh The wall drawing?
@DennisG2014 Lol - My only hesitation is whether there’s an actual name for my #2. According to the site I listed above, “Torres-García did not provide titles for the majority of his art works.”
@cinoclav yeah. I tried googling primary colors and shapes (general and specific), learned all about hard edge painting, but it didn’t click to look for something wall-sized and LeWitt never came up
@lehigh I actually googled “modern art red circle yellow square blue triangle” and did an image search. Scrolling down led me to that image and this page: https://massmoca.org/sol-lewitt/ I had no idea it was a huge wall drawing until I found that image.
@cinoclav I think it was the modern that did it. When I first searched for modern I felt like it was too restrictive, so I dropped it and/or used “20th century”.
@lehigh Figured this was titled as “Modern Art Mashup” so I stuck with it.
@cinoclav @lehigh @DennisG2014
I’m late to the game as usual but did give it a shot before check cinoclav’s usually correct posting. I actually knew #1,
#2 showed up in an auction listing after I pasted in just that section of the image to google image search,
same trick for #3,
#4 I also googled "artwork with red yellow blue squares and scrolled through it until I found it, but could not get #5 before I had to make dinner.
Another nice job @JasonToon, and congrats (again) cinoclav!

@stolicat Thank you (I hope!) You and I really go about this in a very similar way. I also searched the partial images and found the same auction listing. I then spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to find that particular piece elsewhere just to find a name. I’d like to know more about it and why it doesn’t show up in the list of his works.
Btw, love The Wall gif. I’ve seen Roger Waters perform it a couple of times.
Ceci n’est pas une mashup
