@heartny You guys are getting way better IRK than I am. I just get junk every time and I can’t even give most of it away on buy nothing (group to give stuff away for free). I guess that’s why it’s named the instant regret kit
@werehatrack Is the toaster smaller than a bread basket? This thing is a MONSTER at 19in tall. My counter-to-cabnets space is 18 inches. 1 inch saved me $150 today though, I guess.
@ExtraMedium@werehatrack I’ve corrected dimensions to 14”D x 19”W x 12”H. I went and measured my own counter-to-cabinet space and was like… no way is this thing that tall! Images look far smaller… and a review pointed out that the Amazon dimensions are wrong (and are likely the packaging dimensions).
So, sorry @ExtraMedium if I’m making you spend money!
If only it were a tiny bit wider to accommodate a microwave transformer and magnetron. A combo unit, especially one smart enough to run a sensor-driven microwave defrost + toaster cycle?
@gdorn one time my work bought a microwave with a broiler element at the top and the thing was awesome for reheating leftovers and bubbling the cheese on pizza. Until a coworker burned popcorn in it so badly that they just threw it away and replaced it with a regular janky ass microwave.
@djslack@gdorn I feel your pain. We had a hall of shame listed on the front of our microwave.
e.g.
Jim Jones* Rule: No fish in the microwave!
Jeanne Jones* Rule: No unattended popcorn!
The popcorn one was earned with honors. (They had an ancient crappy sub-700 Watt unit at home and grossly underestimated the massive power of the office unit.) They then (courageously?) ran down the hall with the flaming bag of popcorn and threw it in the water fountain to share all of the popcorny goodness with the other offices on the floor. Our office almost called 911
I missed the initial drama, but stepped out of the elevator into a sea of smoke and the evidence of the aftermath. Truly a “WTF?!” It was twice as funny, as the perpetrator was a very brilliant person (at least in non-popcorn-related subjects).
*(not the real names - apologies to any mehtizens that have similar names )
To answer a question the writeup probably didn’t really want answered, the bagel setting should only heat one side (probably the top). At least that’s what it does on my toaster.
@pattyrusk1 mine arrived yesterday. It’s bigger than I thought it would be. My husband and I love it! We used it last night to rewarm pizza cuz I worked late and it worked well. Today I am cutting up bananas and using the dehydrator setting. I like how easy it is to use too

Fry Hard With A Vengeance!!
@yakkoTDI Yippee Ki Yay, Motherfryer.
@aetris You win the internet today! Your award is on the way.
I would like to receive this in my next IRK. Thank you
@heartny I got a different brand in my first expensive IRK… It’s too big for my kitchen. Still sitting in a box taking up space.
@heartny Ha! That was my very first thought when I saw it!

@heartny @PreSim Well, they didn’t get them, they’re just hoping!
I count 10. (‘Air Fry’ is missing)
@PooltoyWolf Someone got in and fixed it before I could.
Will it bake a four-slice toaster?

@ExtraMedium @werehatrack Wait, 19 inches wide, 12 inches tall. Still the size is part of what is keeping me from considering it.
@troy Fine! Take my money!
So, French doors on an appliance that makes (French?) toast…
Do you have to know French to operate this thing?
Did have a Cajun roommate for a while; couldn’t communicate with him very well.
@phendrick
Unless this has a self-cleaning setting I wouldn’t recommend making french toast in this. The egg will drip out of the fryer basket!
@phendrick “Who’s your dialect coach? The Minions?”
I wonder how this would work as a filament dryer. What is the controllable temperature range and how accurate is the temperature control?
Nope. The lowest air fry setting is 121°C. From the user manual:https://newellbrands.imgix.net/417c192e-4f27-309b-97bd-cbb940a57faf/417c192e-4f27-309b-97bd-cbb940a57faf.pdf
@knavekid that would work
@knavekid it has a dehydration setting that should go down to 120f. (mine goes that low, but it’s a different brand)
Is it available in Georgia Red?
@ItalianScallion Of course it is unless I missed that Sharpie went out of business.
I always thought Calphalon was related to Calculon

PANS! GLANDS! CRAYONS! AWESOME!
DIPLOMAT! RAT-A-TAT! FAT CAT! AWESOME!
@djslack @gdorn I have a Sanyo that’s like that. It didn’t grill very well but some things still came out better than just microwaving alone.

I like the French door style but I’m looking for one with a sliding door & screen so I can better smell the food as it cooks.
Are French Doors compatible with French Fries?
I ordered. I hope it works well as a dehydrator. I love dry bananas
