The original Incase Icon backpack is insanely good. It’s like the best backpack I’ve ever owned. This one:
To this day I regret not buying a spare when they were selling them here for less than forty bucks.
The one they have today seems to be a smaller version, for 50% more money. An unfortunate pass for me. Maybe I’ll pick one up if they lower the price in the future.
@truist Yeah the math on those dimensions vs. the states 14.5L volume for the Icon Slim doesn’t add up. The Incase website says the same thing, but I’m definitely suspicious.
@The_Tim@truist I think it’s the additional pockets. I have a pack with two pouches rated at 30L, but only if you turn the outer one inside out (so it functions as an expansion of the other pouch).
I can’t say much about the experience of the icon slim, but I’ve had the incase icon (the bigger version of the icon slim) for 5.5 yrs now, and for $60 it would be worth a shot IMO. The incase icon is a great commute backpack and was part of my daily carry. I’ve had to switch to a smaller backpack because I’m small and I was unknowingly aggravating pre-existing lower back defects by continuing to wear it—it is definitely made for people at least 5’6” tall or at least 130 lbs. The placement of pockets were well thought out, made of quality materials (exterior may become damp if caught in the rain but the inside has never gotten anything wet), and quite comfortable to wear throughout the day. The shell is firm enough that it will always stand up itself without anything in it, though that also means it may not stretch as much if you are really packing it tight. That being said, I’ve used this bag for short trips without having to add a carry on, it holds multiple outfits, personal items, and work equipment no problem. I paid $175 for it, and have definitely gotten my money’s worth. It’s still in great condition today and I still use it for travel. I just can’t use it every day like I used to since its boxiness digs into my very lower back (again, NOT made for short/lightweight people).
The sunflower yellow really caught my eye, but with it also being the largest, and I’m a slob when it comes to keeping pastels clean, I went with the smaller/larger (?) sturdier appearing, self standing, safe, a little more expensive, but no water bottle pockets, navy blue one. It took me longer to decide to spend this much $$ than it did to earn it! I hope I like it, and I hope it’s not too big! Looking forward to yet another backpack. Probably the most I’ve ever spent on one though.
Going to England and Ireland from the US in late March/early April and was in the market for a quality 40L travel backpack that I could use as a carry-on. Then this popped up and I went with the two 25Ls for less than a great 40L. Also, I’m a sucker for the Vault-Tec color scheme!
Incase makes stellar backpacks. I’ve had the slim for 5+ years and it’s damn near indestructible. And true story: I was once wearing it and went back first down a steel staircase in the rain and I’m convinced that it saved my spine from cracking in two and my computer came out unscathed to boot. That’s right - these backpacks also save lives.
I have two Incase duffel bags and they are really nice. I really want to buy one of these but I’m currently unemployed so it’s pretty difficult to justify…
@fredmavis Since a gallon = ~3.785 liters,
20 L is about 5.28 gallons,
25 L is about 6.60 gallons, and
14.5 L is about 3.83 gallons, for those who prefer the outdated “English” system of units.
Or, if it is more relevant, these bags would hold about 26, 33, or 19 “fifths” of booze, respectively, if they could be packed compactly.
Considering the weight though, you might want to just sit there and consume the alcohol.
Might be good for storage though. If you were to hang these, it could give a whole new perspective to the song “99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall”.

Will these hold enough margaritas?
@yakkoTDI Depends, what are your lower and upper limits?
Incase you didn’t know it, this is a good brand.
@phendrick agreed
Misread the notification, expected a faucet.
@awk I’m actually in the market for a faucet, so that’s a bummer.
I believe I already have the small version of this and I think it is good.

@ShotgunX Not likely, FYI. We don’t have a lot of these and this was a rare opportunity to snatch more up
@troy Not even for someone as cute as me?
@troy So how many Icons are still left on the shelf?
Wait the Slim has the largest product dimensions but the smallest capacity?

If it were 45L this would be a no-brainer buy.
I got the yellow 25L

@pennypenny Caroling is pretty intense these days.
The black one is $30, yellow is $40, blue is $60. What is special about these packs? Normal nylon packs of similar sizes are usually $20 or so right?
Added: looking at the pics a little more, these are nice looking but not my style. Pass.
@phr No. Cheap backpacks are around $20. These are actually good backpacks at a good price.
@phr @yakkoTDI They just look like cheap, kindergarten backpacks.
@MarkML @phr @yakkoTDI I own one. They are very high quality.
Knives. Backpacks.Meh really has the holiday spirit, eh?
Hey! Stop calling out my Olympia Sports Plus backpack that’s been on my back for every single trip I’ve ever taken since 2008!
@PooltoyWolf Ah, I see you are a PA person
@pakopako I’ve lived in central Florida my entire life, unless you mean ‘PA’ in a different context?

300D Melange Dobby Polyester is my John Waters/Harry Potter/Dune tribute band.
That 25L is in Vault-Tec colors.

I hope I don’t regret this purchase! Sucks buying gifts

@SnDMommy Looks like Hollywood-radioactive pizza.
Hmmm. The “inside” Icon Slim photo on meh.com does not look like the “inside” Icon Slim photo on incase.com: https://www.incase.com/products/icon-slim-backpack?_pos=1&_sid=f2cc97ba9&_ss=r
I wonder if someone unintentionally grabbed the (big) Icon image from https://www.incase.com/products/icon-backpack instead…
I’m tempted (although I need the Icon, not the Icon Slim), but I’ll likely pass because SWMBO will probably leave me if I buy one more backpack…
/giphy festive-blinking-coal

damn, if the THULE i bought from here was in shambles I’d jump on this but alas

I got the Incase Compass when it was here years ago and it is hands down my favorite bag.
I’ve been holding out hope for a repeat of that deal someday, but I’ll settle for trying one of these
Liters. Now that’s an interesting way of measuring a backpack.

I have the maroon Incase Slim. I love it! It’s great quality and has a deceptive amount of space with the sleek form factor.
I’m sure it would have been a great bag if I had received it. Instead, Meh cancelled the order citing inventory issues. Meh.
