Now that Meh has speaker docks with lightning connectors, it’s pretty clear that lightning connectors are about to be retired by apple, in favor of their new, entirely incompatible “improved” connectors.
For which you’ll have to buy all new chargers, docks, and stuff. Yay apple.
@shahnm As noted elsewhere (another post), that shit is for barbarians. Qi to charge. And Bluetooth for everything else. Both of which, btw, are delightfully not proprietary. Why would I mess with cables and connectors if I don’t have to?
I purchased my X Max over a month ago and have yet to plug in a micro (and use earphones, headphones and speakers with it daily). And I very rarely charge other than by Qi (the little door over the charge port is still stiff as fuck from disuse, and I mean to keep it that way), with shit I bought here and at Morningsave.
Though, point taken about Apple and their needing to be special (ftr, I’m all in with Apple, but I don’t deny their fuckery). But, hey, at least it’s better than that 30-pin bullshit.
@kfdavila Well, if it is plugged in, sure. Speedwise, a bit slower than normal (Power Output: 2.0A, 5V DC per spec). On batteries, I’d have to guess no. Even if it did, you’d be mad to burn real batteries to charge a phone.

@kfdavila It’s not abysmal, but for the most part a decent lightning cable and non-ebay-ultracheap brick will charge about twice as fast for less than this. This would allow you to have it sit upright at your desk while you listen to tunes on your wireless earphones though.
