@Barney Even if you replace the band? At least with this one you’ll be able to read the time. It seems like a lot of “women’s watches” are like the size of a dime or a nickel. Like someone designed a bracelet and decided “hey, throw a tiny clock on there, why not?”.
@Mehsturbator@2many2no I like the smaller watch faces. The big ones really are too big for my wrist. Plus they get in my way; I’m always catching them on something.
Attentive-gutsy-lobster. I couldn’t resist. If nothing else, it’ll be a good one to wear for some of the more active stuff that I do where the watch might get beat up a little bit.
Spent My $$$$ on Woot Off today. Got some Geat deals and My 4th BOC This Year. Its musical this time and can’t wait to get it and didn’t have to jump through hoops to get it.
Oh, I really like this watch! Do all the dials actually work? (It might be a nightmare setting it though)
So many nice colors! I’m leaning towards the rose gold, but I’m wondering if it would look chintzy. Please advise!
@wew Without knowing if you’re male or female or other, and this is just my opinion: rose gold is definitely less flashy than straight gold, but it’s also not going to be as subtle as the other colours. It’ll stand out some (and may potentially look sort of strange depending on your skin tone) and it’ll probably be harder to match it with outfits. Black or grey, for example, will go with most things. So it sort of depends on if you want a colour that will stand out and be a little bold, or if you’re after a more subtle look.
This coming from someone with a black on black watch and a gold with black accents watch. The gold I wear if I want it to stand out (though it does match a few outfits) and the black is for subtle but classy.
And finally, I never understood the whole “rose gold” name. It’s pink, why not just call it that? Not that this influences your decision. I just needed to get that out there.
@Mehsturbator thanks. yeah, I’m a guy. I have a collection of old watches I’ve got at auction. No thousand dollar watches, but they are still nice Elgin’s, watches from the 40’s oh. A lot! And most run.
I still have an ecodrive chronometer from Christmas 2014 that has never seen the light of day.
And a big shiny Seiko that has only because the top box is clear.
And Swatch 21 Jewel autowind that’s still sealed
And multiple cheap Quartz watches laying around with dead batteries
And a Martian sitting on my computer table waiting to be opened.
@brhfl the cheap quartz watches and the swatch. I have a swiss army that I wore for years, but since the mid 90s I’ve been surrounded by digital clocks and stopped wearing a watch. I have a gold Perregaux that I wear when I have to spiff up.
@pixelated not all quartz watches are created equal. For example: Seiko “Tuna Can” 7C46 professional dive watch, Bulova Accutron high frequency movement (quartz crystal vibrates 262,144 hz vs 32,768 hz), Grand Seiko 9F movement thermo-compensated with accuracy within 10 seconds per year (normally 15 seconds per month) and service interval if 50 years.
The Martian Notifier was at like…the largest edge of what my tiny wrist could handle. It broke multiple times but I loved it for what it was. If this was just a weeeeeeeee bit smaller I’d pounce, but sadly no.
I wear a Omega Planet Ocean Seamaster Professioanl as my EDW. It was a gift for surviving a very difficult career in the armed forces. But now, even though I love watches, I can’t bear to wear any other. Besides the Omega is good to a depth of 2000’ of salty ocean water. I just hope I’m not still attached to it!
I don’t think that bothers you too much. It bothers me that in the product photos, the back of the yellow gold watch and the back of the two-tone watch show the same model number … ending in “YG”. Looks like some baaaad photoshopping. And it bothers me just the right amount.
FYI not all mechanical watches are “high-end” or Swiss. If you’re looking for affordable mechanical, look toward Japan for Seiko. Or, if you want really inexpensive (but dubious manufacturing), look toward Russia for brands like Vostok.
i like the black on black, actually, but i don’t like the roman numerals face design.
would also be in for a big chunky plastic watch.
i am a woman, fwiw. haven’t bothered with watches since smartphones but i’m finding more and more that often i just want to know what time it is when i’m out, and i don’t want to have to go through my purse and then unlock a phone all while standing around juggling a drink and/or smoke. (and usually what happens is i get the phone out, end up looking at some other notification, and forget to note the time. rinse, lather, maim, repeat.)
The first decent deal in awhile. If you need a watch, you could do much worse than this one…the brand is actually pretty good…not one of the cheap no names.
“Hey man, I know you need a watch. Cause if you had a watch you’d know it’s night time. And night time aint NO time to be in this here neighborhood.” - Cheech and Chong. I may be off on the exact words a little but I can’t see a watch without thinking of this skit. Please offer the ladies versions soon K thanks.
Got mine as well. After removing 3 links, it fits perfectly. Although the A and B buttons do not work… Not sure it’s worth the $15 to send to Akribos for warranty repair. At that point I’ll have spent what it would cost to buy it on Amazon or Overstock.
@Mehsturbator They’re meant for small adjustments on the date and time zone dials. There’s no way to set the watch to TUES the 25th without the buttons. As it sits I have Tuesday the 29th, or Sunday the 25th, based on just using the crown.
Oh well, at least it still keeps the time!
@stoopidpyro you would’t by chance have a gunmetal color one and be willing to sell said removed links, would you? I have a bionic arm (Titanium & screws from accident) and need one or two more links to be able to close the clasp

No.
Watch me say no to this deal even though it’s baby arm compatible.
Ugh c’mon meh
Baby arm.
Wat chu talkin bout?
SO MUCH freakin’ MEH.
Men’s watches – men’s socks. Always men’s stuff. Why you no like us women? And I don’t wanna talk about those damn pearls.
@Barney It’s called a mens watch but women can wear it too.
@cengland0 Too big on my dainty wrist.
@Barney
If it makes you feel better, even the stuff “geared” at men don’t even really help all the time.
@Barney Even if you replace the band? At least with this one you’ll be able to read the time. It seems like a lot of “women’s watches” are like the size of a dime or a nickel. Like someone designed a bracelet and decided “hey, throw a tiny clock on there, why not?”.
@Barney It’s too big for my fat wrist too, but that’s the style now. They’re all designed by Flavor Flav.
@Mehsturbator @2many2no I like the smaller watch faces. The big ones really are too big for my wrist. Plus they get in my way; I’m always catching them on something.
@Barney don’t you worry we’re working on some non pearl female centered Meh deals
@mandirose
@Barney purple.
https://meh.com/forum/topics/barney-stats-i-love-purple-you-love-purple-were-a-happy-purple-family
@mandirose I watches. I purple.
@Barney @mandirose
But not this.
@PlacidPenguin @barney Ugh not that?! Back to the drawing board…
@cengland0
Can I wash with Irish Spring and then wear it?
/image “Irish Spring”
@Barney
And that’s a sign that other stuff and other beings need to stay out of range of my very dainty wild and crazy wrists.
/want
@mandirose Definitely not that. You need to get a better drawing board.
ouch, I was the one who paid $465 MSRP for this.
@elpepe You have one of these? How do you like it? I’m seriously tempted with it.
@Mehsturbator was just kidding, I doubt anyone ever actually paid $465 for this.
@elpepe Sadness abounds. Thanks anyways. Though I do agree, I would definitely not pay that much for one of these.
Well, I’m actually tempted with this one. I do like watches and, as the write-up says, I do coordinate watches with my outfit.
Ironically the only things I have ever actually purchased here are… Watches.
Attentive-gutsy-lobster. I couldn’t resist. If nothing else, it’ll be a good one to wear for some of the more active stuff that I do where the watch might get beat up a little bit.
Does anybody really know what time it is??
@somf69 Yep, it’s time for bed. This deal is really boring.
@somf69 Ain’t nobody got time fo dat.
@mike808 Lemon Fresh?
@somf69
@somf69 yeh…it’s about…25 or 6 to 4.
Watches are bling.

Needs to be a better deal or better brand
Decagon or Dodecagon?
@andy_panda Heh. Nice catch. It is indeed a decagon, not a dodecagon.
@andy_panda came here to say this…
Spent My $$$$ on Woot Off today. Got some Geat deals and My 4th BOC This Year. Its musical this time and can’t wait to get it and didn’t have to jump through hoops to get it.
@Sidstone
I didn’t. It sold out roughly 3 seconds after I got past VoP.
/giphy woohoo
Wouldn’t you know? Just bought an Ant-Man watch yesterday.
Oh, I really like this watch! Do all the dials actually work? (It might be a nightmare setting it though)

@Mehsturbator
"Rose Gold" is a traditional jeweler’s term for a color of gold used in gold jewelry.
As is “White Gold”.
The non-jewelry uses all derive from that.
This necklace has rose gold, white gold, and regular gold.
Watch out-- no still some for sale
That would mean I’d have to retire my current watch.

@wew This one? Ni-i-i-ice!
I’m in.

Bought. Rose Gold because reasons.

@cranky1950 So how many of these did you buy, then?
@brhfl the cheap quartz watches and the swatch. I have a swiss army that I wore for years, but since the mid 90s I’ve been surrounded by digital clocks and stopped wearing a watch. I have a gold Perregaux that I wear when I have to spiff up.
Haven’t bothered with a watch since I started carrying a smart phone. One more thing to break or lose. I’d hate to be a watch manufacturer today.
Why is the smaller hour dial NOT synched with the main dial. The main is on the 10th hour…the smaller is on the 5th! Pre-set jet lag?
@ragu4u the pictures are virtual renders, not photographs. Obviously the main hour hand and the 24-hour subdial will be coordinated irl.
Quartz watch.
Enough said.
@pixelated not all quartz watches are created equal. @DonberKon still not interested…
CamelCamelCamel says it was $26 on Amazon from Sep 2016 until January of this year. Not a good deal.
@BPerrone Yup, your story checks out but at $27.43.

Maybe it bothers me more than it should… but why did they have to make ONE model number an extra character longer than all the others?
I don’t think that bothers you too much. It bothers me that in the product photos, the back of the yellow gold watch and the back of the two-tone watch show the same model number … ending in “YG”. Looks like some baaaad photoshopping. And it bothers me just the right amount.

Enough of the low contrast pastel color schemes already. It makes the whole site look like it’s grayed out and disabled, plus it’s hard to read.
what is a mechanical watch? does it use batteries?

Well this just arrived. And I got the tracking email this morning. That was… Weirdly fast…

@stoopidpyro Are they supposed to work? I just glanced over it so far but it seems like they’re just decorative.
@Mehsturbator They’re meant for small adjustments on the date and time zone dials. There’s no way to set the watch to TUES the 25th without the buttons. As it sits I have Tuesday the 29th, or Sunday the 25th, based on just using the crown.

I thought those buttons didn’t work, but they did. Give them another try. After some messing around, I got mine set.

@ZombieWrangler I bought the rose gold version, sorry.
How do you unlatch band to put watch on?
@9baller517 For that information, you have to take the Aribos watch training class which is $600 (Visa or Master Card accepted).
@9baller517 It took me a while to figure that out. Just pull on it hard, straight out.
@Mehsturbator I think he meant the watch…
