@lichme Yes, batteries came dead in most of them. Then when I replaced them with new batteries, they lasted less than a month. One stopped working completely even with new batteries. I would have a hard time recommending these to anyone.
And to be clear, I didn’t try any of my IRK ones. I also bought some with real money because I thought I could use these. Those are the only ones I used.
@cengland0, I was thnikin [a dangerous exercise], since the trackers are notorious for losing battery life so quickly, maybe, I shoulda taken the batteries outa [store the said batteries in a frige, of course] trackers, until ready for use. Does that make sense, Or are the batteries simply too hard too remove to make the task not worthwhile? If you would rather not answer this Q&A, then dimply consider the A2A rhetoricle. No problemo,…
@1DisabledWarVet definitely take the batteries out if you don’t plan on using them for a long time. They are hard to open though. Someone posted instructions using two pieces of duct tape and that worked for me
@1DisabledWarVet@jaybird “…uhh dont get fooled again!” Is how he summed it up at end wasnt it?? lol…like W. Ferrell doin George W.
Ive already wasted enough of my $ on these the last times . I think I’d need to get 100 if I wanted 5 working somewhat reliable ones
@jaybird@JvB, No, it went something like, “There’s an old saying in Tn, a saying in Tx & know it’s in Tn… Fool me once, shame on,…shame on you, Fool me, you can’t be fooled again!!” Something close to that, but the way he tried to be so dignified & so casual about it was Funny He knew he forgot the saying, so he tried to adlib the words. One can view the video on Google, or YouTube for a good laugh at a few of his gaffs! JSYK & just to relieve pain, stress & the pressure that meh puts on us to buy their item throwaways! LOL!!
@RatKing, I was fn thinking [again] about buying this pkg Xs 2, just for the Batteries!! 1st, I gotta see how much the batteries cost at Walmart!! If 2 sell for, say, $3.97, then I’m in & according to the Meh Battery Master, I have to put them in the Fridge, of course!
@highonpez, quick answer is Yes. The long answer is that it is possible, though highly unlikely, but you never no IF you have had your head in the sand during all these posts!!
I bought these before the batteries were dead I bought new batteries But it wouldn’t work unless you bought the batteries from the company They are all junk
@Raysrny not true. You can use generic replacement batteries. The TrackR company offers free battery replacement but the shipping and handling cost more than if you bought the batteries elsewhere.
I rarely lose my keys, but the TV remote is always going AWOL. I put a tracker on it and it worked for me once, but I’ve had trouble getting the program to work on my phone since then.
@Kyeh
I loose my phone more than anything. Where the hell am I supposed to put a trackr the size of a quarter to help me find it? How long do the new batteries last if they work?
@Star2236 I don’t know the answer to either of those; it needs your phone to alert it so it wouldn’t work for that anyway. I just call my phone from my landline when I lose it…
@Star2236@winecaseaholic Yeah, I know a lot of people don’t have them anymore. I’m a Luddite. I still get a printed copy of the newspaper too. And watch network TV.
Reviews say they consistently send out false alarms. Since they override your phone’s silent setting, your phone may randomly annoy the crap out of you and others around you.
@Kidsandliz
I think mine (from the IRK) said something about it lighting up? Will have to pull it out to be sure.
Still have my original order from over a year ago and tonight I will set some of them up since my tile died when it fell off my keyring and I ran over it in the hospital parking lot after work… Even already bought some batteries so should be all set.
My takeaway from all the discussion is; I’m not going to buy them. And, couldn’t the Chinese spies track you wherever you go in your car if the tracker is being used as a key fob?
Finally, what the hell is an irk? I’ve been buying crap from meh for years and have never received anything for free.
I bought these last time. Had to throw them away. Dang near impossible to replace the batteries. Worse design for battery compartment I’ve ever seen. If you do a web search for replacing the battery, you’ll see far too many posts about it to think it’s a fluke.
Hard No.
I had these before, they aren’t that loud, the battery has a short life span, I even bought new ones and they don’t last long.
They’re also not that durable, had two break pretty quickly just attached to keys in a bag.
Aaarrrggghhh, just in time, could not find my cat yesterday, am in withdrawals, she’s found a new hiding spot, prob’ly 'cause she says I’m too handsy, that these could help me find her
I have these. I like them. The batteries in the original shipment from TrakR were dead - it wasn’t meh’s fault. They offer a free replacement but you cannot order more than one at a time so I bought a slew of 1616 and 2016 batteries so I don’t have to go through this again.
Worth every penny since they (TrakR) charge $1 for shipping on those replacement batteries.
I still have three on my desk from the big 10 pack a year or two ago? the batteries were dead, the things worked for a minute when i replaced the batteries, but … nope. more sh|t for the landfill
Welp, since I’m paying $5/mo for “free shipping” this is my 1x buy to “square” that expense.
This’ll go into my ever expanding bugout bag fear gear collection…I live in Northern CA & damn if it ain’t fire, it’s forced power outages, plague, or some other drama that forces me to leave my hermit hole.
When the EVAC ORDER goes out (if the cell towers & POTS is still up), it’s the five min. grab the kittehs & GO time. Attaching & checking these things to pets & items while stuck in traffic will give me something to focus on other than imminent death.
these things are great, n yeah, the batteries die at an amazing rate but still great things to have if you’ve got loss issues. n the batts arent hard to remove n store so as to limit battery death, but batteries cost more than the devices. i have a couple of the old metal ones i use as much as these, bigger better batteries, but still die rather quickly.
as re those who wish to get off on a political bent over this; really?
At my level of age and life experience I should know better. If something looks to good to be true, it always is.
A complete waste of money except for the 5 pack of new 2016 button batteries included, but still you can buy 5 on ebay for under $2.50/5 batteries with free ship.
Pieces of crap! Arrived DOA. I couldn’t open the back of the first one to replace the battery. Even the phone number for Trackr support is no good. I’m asking for a refund.
@Springbank If you can’t sandwich it between your fingers and do it, get some shipping tape and press a piece on each side and use that for leverage. If that makes any sense.
@sammydog01@seraphmonkey Thanks, I’ll give it a try. I used a knife to carve a notch in the back of one to put my thumbnail in for leverage. That didn’t work. The pipe wrench looks encouraging, or maybe a hammer.
@crismoody It was not known that TrackR would discontinued support 5 months later, as they were still selling the products themselves. Anyway, it was noted in a different thread that the SwiftFinder app can find these.
@crismoody@narfcake Please stop saying that SwiftFinder is the solution. It isn’t and employees of Meh admit as much. They are still maybe looking at a fix, but who knows.
However, I definitely don’t think it’s fair to accuse Meh of selling these while knowing that the end was near. If you have proof to the contrary, please share.
I think Meh is in a tricky spot. They were selling, mocking, and giving these things away. If you bought some of these, like I did, you paid very little and even got some extra batteries.
If I thought Meh was up to some low level shenanigans, I’d take my $10 loss or whatever I paid and never visit here again. But in the absence of proof, and with Meh’s track® record of honesty & integrity, I’m not too worked up about it.
These weren’t even sold as “dollar store” quality. If you could get them to work and found a use for them, great. Otherwise, that’s Meh for ya. Sometimes you buy and win, other times not so much. The unknown is half the fun of it all.
I’ve played around with finding a solution to get these to work, and I know others have as well. I’ll definitely report back if I have any luck, but for now I’m thinking of using them as poker chips. Does it make sense to use 50 of the same colored chips to play poker. No, it most certainly does not. But again, that’s Meh!
@crismoody@elfunkman@narfcake the only issue with that is, the trackr website lists all the mediocre sites as their checkout.org partners. Morningsave, meh, mediocritee, Sidedeal. Nobody else. That definitely seems like they were doing business on a deeper level.
And that DEFINITELY makes be believe that meh knew these things would be pretty much useless a few months after they last sold them to us.

I got enough of these in my last few IRKs so I don’t need to buy any more.
@cengland0 Then i reckon you’re gonna need some extra batteries
@lichme Yes, batteries came dead in most of them. Then when I replaced them with new batteries, they lasted less than a month. One stopped working completely even with new batteries. I would have a hard time recommending these to anyone.
And to be clear, I didn’t try any of my IRK ones. I also bought some with real money because I thought I could use these. Those are the only ones I used.

Newp, fool me once…
@jaybird, I liked George W’s version of that proverbial saying, moreso, for the funny way he said it,…LOL!!
@1DisabledWarVet @jaybird “…uhh dont get fooled again!” Is how he summed it up at end wasnt it?? lol…like W. Ferrell doin George W.
Ive already wasted enough of my $ on these the last times . I think I’d need to get 100 if I wanted 5 working somewhat reliable ones

@1DisabledWarVet @jaybird lol…thats it!
I’m tracking my way to bed.
@JT954, Copy that, but since I can’t lie down, my comfor-table chair will do,…it could be worse, so I’m good.
These were shit. Now shit with extra batteries of dubious origin.
@1DisabledWarVet @RatKing
Why do you have to put the batteries in the fridge???
Wow these are cheap. Whenever I see “app” I think “spyware” though. Too bad, do not want.
@phr, not to add to your paranoia, but they are made in China,…okay, I was trying to add to it; my PTSD ain’t no better, so…
@1DisabledWarVet @phr The enemy will not rest until they know the location of your keys! /s
Whew, glad I check reviews first, I almost impulse bought them and it looks like something I’d be rather unhappy with even as a gift
@sixsmith ya dont gift them to anybody you like either
Are these the ones that chirp quietly and at a frequency old people can’t hear?
@craigthom, no, these are the one’s that don’t chirp & don’t work!!
I wonder if the one I just got in my IRK has a dead battery…
@highonpez, quick answer is Yes. The long answer is that it is possible, though highly unlikely, but you never no IF you have had your head in the sand during all these posts!!
@highonpez yes
These do work for finding stuff in your house but the batteries pretty much need to be replaced immediately.
@RogerWilco
How long do new batteries work in them?
Their back … i mean, their tracked … in a lot garbage. Extra batteries only makes the pain last longer.
@hchavers prob come with extra dead batteries.
I
I bought these before the batteries were dead I bought new batteries But it wouldn’t work unless you bought the batteries from the company They are all junk
@Raysrny not true. You can use generic replacement batteries. The TrackR company offers free battery replacement but the shipping and handling cost more than if you bought the batteries elsewhere.
More?
@RedOak, read that again,…I think he said ‘more’!!
Am I the only one who liked the story about the untraceable trackRs? I might be pretty bored
Bad marketing. This should be 5 batteries with extra trackers…then they might sell
That quarter is worth dozens and dozens of these things. (pre-1965)
@PooltoyWolf Do you collect coins, too?
@Kyeh Only a slight bit. I’m not a true numismatist, but I do find certain coins interesting.
@PooltoyWolf Did you get the Schrodinger’s Toothbrush Club coin?
@Kyeh I didn’t! I kinda wish I had, though. That was pretty cool.
/giphy squalid-flirty-gerbil
I rarely lose my keys, but the TV remote is always going AWOL. I put a tracker on it and it worked for me once, but I’ve had trouble getting the program to work on my phone since then.
@Kyeh I desperately look for my remote when many times I’m less than 3-5 ft from my TV,…go figure
@Kyeh Same. Worked perfect on my fire remote.
@Kyeh
I loose my phone more than anything. Where the hell am I supposed to put a trackr the size of a quarter to help me find it? How long do the new batteries last if they work?
@Star2236 I don’t know the answer to either of those; it needs your phone to alert it so it wouldn’t work for that anyway. I just call my phone from my landline when I lose it…
@Kyeh @Star2236 I haven’t had a land line since 1993…
@Star2236 @winecaseaholic Yeah, I know a lot of people don’t have them anymore. I’m a Luddite. I still get a printed copy of the newspaper too. And watch network TV.
@Kyeh @winecaseaholic
Nothing wrong with network tv, I watch it all the time.
These fucking things again? I do enjoy the irony of these being lost in shipping several times, but I don’t enjoy the fact that they suck.
Reviews say they consistently send out false alarms. Since they override your phone’s silent setting, your phone may randomly annoy the crap out of you and others around you.
If you have to be in purpletooth range, I’m out. I need next room/upstairs range and this ain’t that.
I was able to track my last order of these right into the trash when all of them stopped working within days…
It tracks…
False
Viola?
stocking up for birthday/Christmas early…
/image spooky-flatulent-antelope
So that is why meh sent out single trackers in irks… to seduce people into buying more later
@Kidsandliz

@accelerator Instant Regret Kit. $5 for who knows what products during Meh-rathons typically.
I bought these last time. Had to throw them away. Dang near impossible to replace the batteries. Worse design for battery compartment I’ve ever seen. If you do a web search for replacing the battery, you’ll see far too many posts about it to think it’s a fluke.

Hard No.

I must have superpowers but I found I can open and close these with my bare hands.
They’re pretty fragile and I’ve destroyed a couple of them through general use so I’m in for another set.
Those quarters are worth more…
Daughter unit 2 wanted some, so…

I fell apart, 2 were packaged separately 3 were loose no instructions!! Very poorly made!!
So what’s the trick to getting the back off to replace the battery? Nothing to hold on to, and real slippery.
@Springbank If you can’t sandwich it between your fingers and do it, get some shipping tape and press a piece on each side and use that for leverage. If that makes any sense.
@seraphmonkey @Springbank

So, anyone else get 5 3-packs of the white?
I ordered 2 of the 5 packs and ended up with 8 white, and 8 of other colors. Very confused.
The batteries die within two days and there’s no way to get the back off without breaking them. I give up
@patientrep read up a few posts!
Hammer makes more sense
Ok Yes. The lint roller does work ! I managed to get the back off. I’m off to replace the other 9 dead batteries.
I can’t believe Meh sold these knowing the company was going out of business. Now all of these devices no longer work.
@crismoody It was not known that TrackR would discontinued support 5 months later, as they were still selling the products themselves. Anyway, it was noted in a different thread that the SwiftFinder app can find these.

Which is not a great feeling.
I tried to find the app on the apple store but can’t find it - I searched or TrackR and TrackR Pixel. Any thoughts?
Hi @amydlove, unfortunately TrackR shut down its services and removed its apps.
@amydlove @Ignorant
theTrackr.com shows a banner across the top that says they will stop support on 8/15/21. As noted elsewheres (above a few posts) in this thread there are reports of some mixed success with the swiftfinder app.
