Instructions unclear; trackr now taped to taint. Pls help!
@djslack at least now your SO can find you easily…
@chienfou she could if the stupid battery weren’t dead!
@djslack try using the lint brush trick…
@chienfou thanks! Trackr retrieved, plus I’m lint free and most of the way to a duct tape Brazilian!
@djslack if you can get the battery replaced, be sure to pair it with your phone, then it can serve as a prostate checker whereby if your prostate gets enlarged, it should trigger the find my phone functionality, playing a tune and letting you know that it’s time to schedule an appointment with the ass man.
@frd1963
I’m assuming this twisting motion is unlocking, rather than destroying, the rear panel. I also wonder if either side of the Trackr is smooth enough to use a suction cup for this?
@PooltoyWolf or a pop socket!
SOCKET POPPIT STAHPIT
@stolicat Ha!
@mediocrebot put a sock in it and stop it.
@PooltoyWolf Yeah the back panel twists off but there isn’t much space to grip so the tape makes it easy. The front panel might be smooth enough if you can dodge the button, but you need it on the back because that’s what actually twists
In the name of science and discovery, (and just generally busting shit) I decided sacrifice a Trackr and attempt to open it.
I’m ashamed to say the Trackr emerged unharmed. I’ll have to find something else to sacrifice to the gods of science.
I was prepared for a full on campaign. Unfortunately it was all over in a couple seconds. TWSS.
@ruouttaurmind Thank you muchly for this!
@PooltoyWolf @ruouttaurmind …this is just plagiarism
@Moose is miffed because I shortcutted the convolutions.
@ruouttaurmind Shortcutted? Shortcutted?! You use way more words and the only difference is you use your thumb instead of a wrench! How dare you
@Moose And my finger instead of a lint roller. Don’t forget the omission of the lint roller!
/giphy build a better mousetrap
@ruouttaurmind I’m gonna go with @Moose because he had more pictures. I like pictures.
@sammydog01 I woulda had pichers 'cept one of my hands was gunked up with tape and the other had a TrackR tied to it. So I couldn’t use a camera. And the dogs were no help. No opposable thumbs!
@ruouttaurmind @sammydog01 you needed that camera they just sold!!
@tinamarie1974 Well, sure, but then I’d had to wait three more weeks to receive the glasses cam.
@ruouttaurmind uummmmm patience is a virtue? Yeah, I wouldn’t wait either!
@ruouttaurmind with my superior method, you wouldn’t have tape gunk on your hands.
@ruouttaurmind Three weeks? Maybe three months…
@ruouttaurmind why is there no blood?
@unksol Right? Not even so much as a bruise.
Thank you for your tutelage!
@PhysAssist I think this counts as 1 CE credit
@ybmuG NP’s need CE’s, we PA’s model MD’s with CME hours, but they are the same thing, just with different names.
@PhysAssist @ybmuG
at first glance I thought “WTF is an ICE credit??”
@PhysAssist Thanks for the correction - my post was imprecise. Guess I just got some CE!
@PhysAssist @ybmuG I also need CE’s, though I just renewed my license recently so I’m good for two years. Plus, no Trackrs.
@cinoclav @ybmuG No worries, it’s all the same BS.
I just passed my 4th (& hopefully last) Q6 year recertification exam.
The next time I would be due would be in 10 years (they finally extended the time frame to match MD’s) and I hope to be retired by then…
@chienfou @ybmuG ?Ironically, my last job was working in a detention on contract for ICE.
Glad to be outa there, you damn betcha.
(And I’m not even a foreign national…)
@PhysAssist Sounds scary.
@Fuzzalini Not so much, unless you weren’t born here…
For me, it was more an an issue of professional ethics, and barriers to providing patient care.
I imagined a soon-to-be-classic meh video of you smashing the Trackr with the pipe wrench to get the battery out.
There’s still time.
@mehcuda67 I photoshopped duct tape onto a wrench, and now you ask for more?
I have a problem with keeping my lids on. Any advice?
@caffeine_dude My advice is simple
Seeing this makes me wonder why the thing couldn’t have had some means of unscrewing it in the first place, like a slot on the edge so you could pry it off with a coin or a screwdriver, like you can with your car’s key fob.
It’s almost as if their business model might’ve been predicated on people throwing away their old Trackrs and buying new ones when the battery ran out…
This is valuable information. Now all I need is to actually receive my TrackRs.
Yup, me too. I would really like to actually receive mine. This long wait makes me hesitant to buy anything else from this site.
@Rickyrat it’s definitely not normal for an item to be so late. Meh will make good on the item.
What might be good to know in advance is what kind of battery it takes. I got mine open, just to find out that my AA battery wouldn’t fit no matter how much lint rolling, duct taping or pipe wrenching I did.
@frd1963 did you think this thing was a TARDIS?
@Ignorant I had hoped so. It is much bigger on the inside than on the outside, but not big enough
@frd1963 @Ignorant
T-not-WSS
Hoping its size is 2032 in lieu of a 2016 due to an impulse battery buy at tractor supply company.
@oldemu just opened one up and it’s a CR2016
@Ignorant @oldemu So you are saying the batteries are 4 years old? I guess that’s better than being from the year 2032, in which case I would in fact need a TARDIS.
@frd1963
20nn=20mm diameter
nn16=1.6mm thickness
You may now correctly infer that the CR2032 is twice as thick as a CR2016, and the same diameter.
You could also have looked this up in the Wikipedia.
Doesn’t TrakR guarantee a free lifetime replacement of all the batteries in the Trackr units?
@ClaimCheck nope but they will give you one “free” one but the shipping charge makes it not worth it.
Alternate method n+1: Two lint rollers.
@werehatrack
judging from the scrapes on your legs it looks like they put up a fight!
@chienfou Cats, furniture, large vegetation and bits of vehicles account for those.
@werehatrack
Sounds familiar. Any time I come in from working outside my wife always asks what I did to myself and my response is generally “Why? Where am I bleeding?”
My last significant ‘owie’ was a 1/2 inch diameter puncture wound to the back of my right calf from getting spurred by the f’n rooster when I turned my back on him out in the yard. Of course after I reached down and got him unhooked from my calf I proceed to cold cock him (SWIDT?) and he went face down into the grass. Came back to his senses after about 15 minutes, and now keeps a pretty wide berth from me. Guess he knows where he falls in the pecking order now…
@chienfou White leghorn?
@werehatrack
nah… some chickens I got from a friend. Don’t remember the “brand” btuhe is a good looking bird.
It’s so entertaining to see the comments from the peeps who were upset that the Trackrs they ordered were taking too long to ship. Little did they know that soon the things would turn into IRK herpes.
@ircon96 Meh’s own glitter-analog…
@werehatrack Exactly! You’ve said the secret word & are the lucky winner of a metric ton of Trackrs to add to your collection!
