@Euniceandrich I wonder if the “eraser end” of the stylus will erase smaller sections if wiped across said mistake. Answered my own question it’s all or nothing.
@phendrick And this is why we now have the miracle of ChatGPT, crossed with the Wolfram Alpha plugin
(Not recommended for people with a low tolerance for false information, those afraid of early AI models telling them to leave a spouse or SO for “reasons”, or those who dislike the pace at which we are approaching Cyberdyne’s inevitable future)
@phendrick Don’t even remind me of economics proofs. OMG calculus, which I had to teach myself that all over again about 20 years since I had last had a calculus class. I’d go to the undergrad math lab for help. You had to walk in with the equation set up, that I could do, I had just forgotten a lot of the mechanics of how to get from that to the answer 2/3 a single spaced notebook piece of paper page to 1.5 pages to get to the answer. In one exam question I knew where the answer was headed, forgot how to do the math at one point, put in a cartoon joke involving Einstein and a black board where the joke said, “And a miracle happened here” into where I forgot how to to it and pick up later on where I remembered what it looked like there to the end (this was one of those, at least a page long, proofs). The professor was not impressed.
That third gif is infuriating; If I had a time machine, I’d go back to the filming of the ad and rotate the boards so the erase buttons were on the outer corners.
I’d buy one for a similar discount, but I don’t need four. These things are cool; like Tim above, I have one of the notepad-style ones and it’s a lot of fun to draw on. A to-do list style unit is a natural evolution.
Fwiw in the A*zn reviews it says any magnet will trigger the erase corner so if you lose the writing stylus you aren’t left with your last note forever or until you take out the battery.
The magnet-triggered erase button looks like a nice improvement over the push-to-erase button on the original boogie boards. We had a small one of the originals. Novel and fun to play with for awhile, but easy to accidentally clear the screen.
I do see boogie boards out in the wild on occasion, usually some mom using it as a shopping list at the grocery store, where it takes so much willpower to just walk past and NOT boop the erase button when nobody is looking…
@muffinator truly bravo gift (I actually do like these things, but I question if they’re a long term entertainment for kids who may want archives of their work to bathe in; they make fantastic notepads for adults who need to input order info to a database later and don’t want to use a power chugging phone/tablet.)
I’ve used my Boogie Board tablet every day for the past ~6yrs. So nice to be able to make quick notes while talking to customers or coworkers and not have to waste paper all day.
I bought one of the larger Boogie Board notepads for my daughter about 10 years ago, and it really was a good, simple note-taking or scribbling device. Glad they’re still around.
Will use for all the above, and Daily REMINDERS:;: such as LIFE … It’s MEANT to be LIVED (so let’s have a MARGARITA MUG) IF/WHEN I tire of them? I’ll “gift” 3, 1 to ea. Daughter. Keeping ONE at least, just cuz they’re cool
Got a FedEx notification of a package from Kent Displays in Kent, Ohio. Looks like these are shipping directly from the company and not from the Meh Warehouse.
Got 'em. I like them. I’d prefer a more durable frame with a little heft and a better hanging method. The blister packaging board is more substantial than the frame itself is. But I’m happy over all.
These really are an excellent example of this sort of rewritable board thing. I modified a sign holder STL from Thingiverse and the wife uses these for pricing and sale info etc. when she does farmers markets.
Looks like a chalkboard but way more user friendly.

So no selective erasing, like white boards allow. When it comes time to erase one mistake, the whole screen disappears and you start over?
@Euniceandrich Warning:You SO will have fun erasing these, including your margarita recipes.
Is this a step above or below an Etch-a-sketch?
@Euniceandrich I wonder if the “eraser end” of the stylus will erase smaller sections if wiped across said mistake. Answered my own question it’s all or nothing.
@Euniceandrich what kind of sick perfectionist are you? Just scratch out the oops and keep going… like the rest of us 10 year olds.
@gibvel
then what’s this part mean??
New VersaPencil stylus allows you to be intentional when erasing
@gibvel
never mind, I did some more digging and found it didn’t mean what I thought they were saying!
Meh.
Not even big enough for a single decent math problem:

@Kidsandliz
@phendrick
And this is why I lost points (guess it wasn’t an Einstein cartoon either):
/showme a soft-tipped tool
@mediocrebot #fail
@haydesigner @mediocrebot is it cake?
@haydesigner @mediocrebot @russellmz THIS is cake.
@haydesigner @mediocrebot @russellmz @Steficake The cake is a lie.
@haydesigner @mediocrebot @pmarin @russellmz @Steficake Maybe seems soft to an entity whose brain is made of silicon.
@haydesigner @macromeh @mediocrebot @pmarin @russellmz @Steficake
IDK silicone is pretty soft
@chienfou
Silicone makes shitty chips.
Silicon makes a shitty bathtub sealant.
Speeling is inportant.
@werehatrack
and silicone is made from silicon… So my point still stands…
/showme my finger
@mediocrebot Oouhgh. Don’t like that.
@mediocrebot I like that AI can’t quite do faces, even if it’s a scribble on the fingertip.
Four for Foursday?
@gertiestn Maybe next week they will do this as Two for Tuesday.
These are pretty cool. We’ve had a smaller one in the past as a doodle pad for our daughter. But I definitely don’t have any need for four of them.
How about 2 for $24.99? Four seems like overkill.
@heartny Exactly, who the hell needs 4 of these? I’d rather pay $30 for one. Even if they did 2 for 25, I might buy it just to keep one in the closet.
@heartny I agree also. I may have bit on this at 2 for 25.
@heartny …and I sit here trying to calculate how much $ to tile the bathroom.
@heartny The way this works out with bulk buys, shipping, etc. it’s probably more like this:
Which would you be more likely to go for?
@dave I personally would only go for one at those price points, if that becomes an option. Thanks for asking
@heartny Guessing that means they have a boatload to move. Make some friends?
@heartny @richrauch is this a literal boat blocking the canal again?
@dave I think I’d go for 1 for $20. I checked on side deal and was tempted by the kids’ ones for 17.50, but they’re pretty small
@heartny: What? U people don’t have any friends or family to share your extra crap with?
@dave @heartny Would absolutely buy one for $20.
@heartny I got four. Three worked. One went in the trash. Sometimes you need extra when you expect some that will fail.
That third gif is infuriating; If I had a time machine, I’d go back to the filming of the ad and rotate the boards so the erase buttons were on the outer corners.
@Aspirant_Fool But then all the liquid crystal would spill out.
If I put three different color VersaTiles together, do I get a whiteboard?
@hchavers Only if you press real hard.
I’d buy one for a similar discount, but I don’t need four. These things are cool; like Tim above, I have one of the notepad-style ones and it’s a lot of fun to draw on. A to-do list style unit is a natural evolution.
These four- packs might move if you got a special IRK with each.

@Turken Monster.
@Steficake @Turken
@Turken most of the small one can be locked, so erase button is useless!
Sorry, this deal just doesn’t work for me. I’m only willing to buy 16 for $199.96, otherwise I’m not interested.
That’s a pretty neat circular calendar thingy bottom right corner. Sell some of those!
@qazxto I just saw one of those at Goodwill the other day! Sadly you do have to move the balls yourself
@esushi @qazxto I am used to moving my own balls already.
Or two for $10 here https://amzn.to/3KAGxnc
@muffinator thanks that’s an even better deal though those are a little smaller 8x5 vs 8x8 here
@muffinator ffs where were you 11 minutes ago!?
@muffinator truly bravo gift (I actually do like these things, but I question if they’re a long term entertainment for kids who may want archives of their work to bathe in; they make fantastic notepads for adults who need to input order info to a database later and don’t want to use a power chugging phone/tablet.)
@muffinator @Steficake if it makes you feel better, Meh is selling authentic original boogie boards.
@muffinator Thanks for that! You just saved me $40!
@muffinator Whoa. I followed your link…$3 each in bulk.

@jhanig must be funny when they ask what model of iPad that is
@pmarin It gets called an Etch-A-Sketch very often haha

They don’t even offer a pack of mixed colors, you have to choose just one color.
@magicminis Will I regret it if I choose PURPLE?
Got a FedEx notification of a package from Kent Displays in Kent, Ohio. Looks like these are shipping directly from the company and not from the Meh Warehouse.

Ordered Green, but got Red. Meh. The color doesn’t change the function of the board, though. They’re great, and I’m keeping them.
@customers Hey BoogieBoard buyers! We’ve got these up on Meh again, and we knocked the price down $20 if you want some more.
I’d love to hear any stories about where and how you’re using them if you’re up for sharing with the community.

I wonder if I can put a magnet on the back of one and put it on the cruise cabin door so I can use it as a message board.
I will soon find out
/giphy jumbo-model-stem
@ironcheftoni On the Royal Caribbean ships, the doors are magnet-friendly.
@werehatrack Same with Norwegian. Just have to find magnets strong enough to hold it in place
@ironcheftoni @werehatrack How about on the totally democratic CCP’s “educational” cruise lines? Or is everything there also just cheap plastic?
