Philips Bookshelf Speakers with Bluetooth
Our Take
- You get a pair of Philips bookshelf speakers- Aux-in or Bluetooth v3.0- Each speaker is about 10" tall, 5" wide, 6" deep, with a 3" woofer and a 0.5" top-mounted soft dome tweeter- 20W RMS total power- Don’t even try to mount them inside your walls or ceiling- Model: SPA4270BT (we know Philips makes a wide range of Bluetooth (BT) speakers (SPA), but four digits worth? come on)
Wow, you guys are lazy.
Jeez, y’all. We knew you’d have to do a little extra work to use those built-in speakers we sold the other day - well, “sold” is maybe too strong a word. A little sawing and patching and painting never killed anybody, right? We figured a few of you were handy enough to deploy a few tools to achieve that pimped-out in-wall speaker effect. In a way, we were beyond right: it turned out to be very few of you.So for the 99.84% of you who didn’t bite, check out these Near-Wall Speakers. No drywall work required - just plug them in and put them on a bookshelf or regular shelf or really any flat surface, we don’t want to get too demanding here because we’ve seen how horribly that can go wrong.Looks like Philips has figured out that Bluetooth speakers can just be regular speakers that do Bluetooth. They don’t have to be bright red or shaped like a kidney or flash a bunch of obnoxious lights in your face. So here we have some classic bookshelf speakers, complete with a woodgrain finish on the sides. They’re each about as big as three boxes of Girl Scout cookies standing up in a line with a fourth box of Girl Scout cookies across the top… man I could go for some Girl Scout cookies right now. Do I have still have that half a sleeve of Thin Mints in the freezer?Uh, anyway, right, these speakers. If you can’t handle the 'tooth, they do the aux-in thing, too. Warning: you will have to rouse yourself to insert a cable into a jack, and possibly do it again. Don’t strain yourself.Best of all, you can set them near a wall without breaking a sweat or breaking out a saw. We know how important that is to you guys. And OK, fine, us guys too. Work sucks amirite?
