An Exorcise In Sales: A Halloween Meh-rathon
The next day, Halloween, Chad sat at the same booth at Haint’s Pub. He said the incantation a few times under his breath. He’d memorized it and would use it to release the smoke man in due time. For now, he waited. Sure enough, just as they had yesterday, the three members of the Friars’ Club burst into the pub and made their way over to him, although they moved with none of their usual arrogance.
Father Brad had soot around his face, like a cartoon character that stood too close to a stick of dynamite. Father Thad’s robes hung around him, shredded. And Father Spike held his left hand tightly with his right.
“Hey, guys. You look as though you just came back from a wild–” Chad began to say.
Father Brad cut him off. “Chad,” he said. “There’s no time to talk. We’re here because we need your help.”
