She was born on October 16, 1946–HEY–that was the day I was born-my one claim to fame all these years. Her family had gathered to celebrate her 77th birthday tomorrow and instead gets to mourn her loss instead. SAD.
I was a little freaked out learning about Suzanne Somers death.
It was just a couple of days ago that (out of the blue) I went on YouTube to look her up.
Yes, the day BEFORE she died!
I was shocked to hear that just hours after I spent the afternoon enjoying her home videos that she’d passed away. What makes it freaky for me is that lately this kind of thing has been happening more and more often. People that I don’t (personally) know, or people I haven’t seen in a long time, come into my mind or I’ll dream about them, and then, shortly after, I hear that they’ve died.
Like I said, it’s weird, right?
@Lynnerizer
Please forget you ever heard my name!
JK… It’s weird how stuff like that works out…
Sort of like when you think of someone and they call you “out of the blue”.
@chienfou I have no voodoo dolls, scouts honor! Lol
Yes, like when someone calls. Not believing in coincidence is what makes it next level. If I’m not careful I’ll drive myself nuts overthinking it.
@chienfou
It happened again, BIG TIME!
I’ve got this neighbor, Mari-Louise, we’re not close or anything, just friendly. I don’t even see her that often now that the pool is closed for the season and matter of fact I didn’t even get to the pool this year but she’d come check on me every now and then. She’s had a real bad drinking problem ever since she retired after 35 years of teaching 2nd grade. If you can remember your favorite grade school teacher THAT would have been her, she was that person! Let me also say that even though I moved here 10 years ago (feels more like 3 years) we just exchanged phone numbers in August. For some reason Mari-Louise had been on my mind for the past week and a half. I’m 34 years sober and I was thinking how nice it would be if I could bring her to my old AA meeting in town, I hadn’t been there in over 20 years but it was my favorite meeting with a lot of long time sobriety. I thought how surprised she’d be to see that she probably knew most of the people there and never imagined they’d had a drinking problem, because that’s how that works. Lol For some reason my mind had been filled with all kinds of thoughts about Mari-Louise, almost to the point of obsessing. I didn’t know why but I couldn’t get her out of my mind. Anyway… I just found out tonight that Mari-Louise passed away last week, Oct 13, 2023. Besides being in disbelief that “IT” happened again, I’m so sad, sad for her husband, sad for her family and sad that I never did send that text.
@Lynnerizer
Wow… sorry to hear about that. Don’t beat yourself up about not getting the text sent. You were there for her on the occasions she reached out to you and THAT is a great thing. Hopefully her family will have some peace about the whole thing. Living with someone with an addiction can be very tough.
@chienfou
Thanks! I just learned something else that’s weird/ironic/creepy. (take your pick) Remember how @Felton10 was talking about his friend who passed away and her birthday, like his, was on October 16th. And then saying people with birthdays on 10/16 should watch out. Well, as you probably have already guessed, YES, Mari-Louise’s birthday was October 16th!
She was adorable and I loved watching her as a kid. Most of the jokes flew over my head, but her silly, unpretentious ways charmed all of us. RIP to the 70s blonde GOAT.
It got worse for those of us with an Oct 16th birthday. The wife of a couple who we go out to eat with twice a month passed away last week. Went to her funeral on Tuesday. Guess what her BD was-yep- 10/16.
@Felton10@GrandmaLyn
Aww that’s sad.
I know how hard that’s got to be, my mom is going through something similar. She lost her husband and then my dad (they’ve always remained best friends) within 2 months of each other. And my dad’s wife right after so now she’s the only one remaining out of the group. It’s got to be rough, and then living alone in a huge house after being together so long. It’s just sad! It’s just now been a year and she’s just starting to talk about her feelings and how she’s dealing. Sad, it’s just so sad.
Hopefully they celebrate all the wonderful memories.
She was a great and funny actress.
Oh, and HAPPY 77th Birthday to you @Felton10 !!
Very sad. She fought such a long battle against cancer, but unfortunately it won. Cancer sucks.
We are running out of celebrities whom I actually recognize.
RIP Suzanne, you were delightful to watch, even though also sometimes a little zany IRL.

So sad, she was a ray of sunshine
Also, happy birthday Felton. I hope you have a wonderful day
Hey Felton…

@Felton10
Well Barbara Eden turned 91 this year.
@Felton10 I thought genies (Jeannies?) were ageless, for all practical purposes.
I wish her many more years.
@Felton10 If we get together and take you out to celebrate your birthday, can we write it off our taxes?

@Felton10
Happy happy birthday! Hope you’re having a wonderful time celebrating!

@Felton10 That’s rough. I hope you keep her bereaving husband close by. He’ll need the continued social support and interaction.
@GrandmaLyn He asked if we would still include him in our going out to eat plans. We said of course.
