Listen Up
Hey, here are some earbuds! As discussed previously, the reviews vary wildly in terms of both comfort and sound. Some people think they fit perfectly and sound awesome. Some think they fit like trash and sound terrible. And some people have opinions somewhere in the middle.
Then again, you already knew that even if you never read that other write-up. Like, you get two pairs for 15 bucks. And while we can find deals no one else can, we’re not going to pretend we’re out here slinging buds worth $150 at 7 and change per. Which is to say: universal praise is not guaranteed.
But really, who cares? If you get them and don’t like them, just stash them for when your others die leaving you in a pinch. Or you could keep a little wear and tear off your actual good buds by using these for listening to podcasts while doing chores around the house. After all, you don’t need perfect acoustics for a few people chatting.
Now, if you’re looking for some new podcast recs, we’ve got you covered! Here are our recent favorites:
My Favorite Mordor: Kate Jillson and Jillian Katenoff bring their wit and humor to Middle-Earth. Think it’s as simple as two women reading the Lord of the Rings books and making quips throughout? Well, think again! (Because they don’t really read the books; they mostly read the Wikipedia summaries of the books. And make quips throughout.)
Sage Advice: Most people who accidentally buy a jar of freeze-dried sage instead of parsley would put it in the fridge and maybe google a recipe. But radio journalist Jordan Mitzky is not most people. So when he made this very mistake, he didn’t just shake his head and drive back to the store. Instead, he set out on a quest, talking to Michelin-star chefs, culinary historians, and herbalists to answer the question once and for all: hey, what should I do with this sage?
Talk Is Cheep: Ned Bants, Gina Martin, and Trace LeRay are all passionate amateur bird watchers. And for some reason, they each think they’re really funny. As such, every episode opens with one of them discussing a recent sighting before devolving into aimless riffing.
N.D.Eh: Reporter Troy Meligrove travels to the far-away country of Canada and encamps with a group of Canadians, recording conversations and observations about the things our neighbors to the North don’t want us to know.
My Favorite Myrrh-der: Hannah Gailson and Gail Hannahfred get together to read the Wikipedia page concerning the dried sap of the Commiphora Myrrha tree and make quips. Wow. Really feels like some of these folks thought of the name first and worked backward, doesn’t it?
Good stuff, huh? And you can find all these great shows on Snapple Podcasts, Sportify, and Ewe-Tube!
Anyway, buy some buds.
