@AaronLeeJohnson My LG V10 was their flagship phone and it not only came with two batteries but I also got an LG charger for the second battery so I could keep it fresh I truly wish they would bring that back.
@AaronLeeJohnson@tlange413 problem was this eliminated any chance of waterproofness, which all iPhones have now. There is the built-in assumption of eventual obsolescence which is normally 5-6 years; after that they may still work but not get SW updates.
I did like the days of solid tech that was maintainable forever like old analog audio equipment or classic made-in-US Craftsman tools but those days are gone….
@AaronLeeJohnson@pmarin@tlange413 not necessarily; you could get one of those European DIY phones that still have large interchangable parts and then use a Ziploc bag on it. The bag is thin enough that you can still use the touchscreen or biometric sensor.
Bought a couple of pairs the last time these were offered.
Pros: I like the fit and they stay in my ears.
Cons: Poor sound quality, occasional noises. (humming, static)
Not buying the buds because, well the reviews sound really.bad and I already have a cheap pair I use for chores… but that write up was really enjoyable. Ace job there Mehstaff.
@pixelated For what it’s worth I’ve updated the Amazon comp link as it was linking to a previous generation of these buds. Our stock is the later generation, models 15630, 15633, 15634, 15127
Regarding the double-diss of My Favorite Murder: I know the write-up is humor, but I have to defend one of my favorite podcasts. In the early days, say 2016-2017, the stories could be kind of light on research, but Karen and Georgia took the criticism to heart and take the job and role more seriously now. In fact, they now have researchers for their stories. They also regularly donate money to organizations like End the Backlog and Feed America, something a lot of true crime podcasts don’t do. OK, thanks for letting me get that off my chest.
Probably a good deal for those unsure that they can trust themselves with true wireless buds and they want to do a cheap test run. I’ve certainly lost buds early in my adoption before I set habits. I’d hate for them to be me expensive sets. Since then, I’ve abandoned true wireless for more easily accountable but technologically antiquated neck band tech.
I bought them this time. One of them won’t charge. I tried multiple times and left them plugged in for more than 12 hours and it goes dead in about 2 minutes.

These ear plugs suck. They keep making strange noises.
@yakkoTDI sucking sounds? Could be your ear canals draining into the ocean…
@yakkoTDI Is it static like? Is it a buzzing noise? Humming noise?
@ergomeh A lot of the time it sounds almost like voices and music. Maybe the trunk fumes are getting to me.
It’s got a micro USB charging port and comes with a USB-C cable?
@craigthom fixed. Per customer reports these are USB-C
Read the reviews. Hard pass
Remember when certain budget phones would come with a spare battery?

Wanted to get some as stocking stuffers, until I read Amazon reviews.
The gift recipients might get pissed for receiving mediocre buds.
I guess you get what you pay for.

Do they wireless charge too? I’m trying to replace some Aukeys I got on Meh/SideDeals that do both! VEvery pair they have offered doesn’t seem to.
Darn, I’ve been wanting a pair or two since I went swimming with a pair in my pocket last summer. But I really want to have decent sound quality.

So many earphones, so little time.

@IAMIS make sure to contact HyperGear, these come with a Limited 1-Year Warranty
Turns out you have to pay to ship them back. By the time I’m done all the paperwork and paying for shipping it isn’t worth it. Live and learn.
