2-for-Tuesday: Bamboo Pillows

  • Choose from two King size pillows or two Queen size pillows
  • You get a couple of pillows stuffed with shredded memory foam
  • The “bamboo” part is the casing, made of bamboo-based fabric
  • It’s breathable, hypoallergenic, and apparently not as marketable as the manufacturer hoped it would be
  • Models: 101342Q, 101342K (this seems like way too many digits for a couple of pillows - we bet 142K and 142Q would have done the job just as well)

Bamboo Pillow FAQ

Pillows made of bamboo? Sounds really hard.
Yeah, no. They aren’t, like, hard bamboo. They’re made of soft bamboo.

Soft bamboo?
Well, OK, bamboo fibers.

Really?
Fine! Fine, Mr. Know-It-All! Fibers of bamboo-derived rayon. There! Happy now?

So they’re stuffed with these bamboo fibers?
Uh, no. They’re stuffed with shredded memory foam.

Then where does the bamboo come in?
The casing. That’s what’s made of bamboo-derived rayon.

OK… that’s it?
That’s it.

What’s the point?
Well, the bamboo fibers are breathable so the pillow stays cool at night. And they’re hypoallergenic and mold-resistant.

Huh. Are moldy pillows a big problem for people?
¯\(ツ)

So let me get this straight: these “bamboo pillows” are shredded memory foam stuffed inside a casing made of some kind of bamboo-based fabric.
That’s right, yeah.

Then why not call them “shredded memory foam pillows”?
Because nobody’s going to pay $200 for a pillow with a name like that.

Doesn’t seem like many people paid $200 for this “bamboo pillow”, either.
You’ve got a point there.

Did you hear the one about the guy who dreamed he was a panda?
No.

He woke up and half of his bamboo pillow was eaten.
Good one.
