12-Pack: Unreal Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups With Crispy Quinoa (96 cups)
Our Take
- A sweet treat without so much sugar
- The quinoa adds a little texture
- When we sold these last time, people said, “hey, pretty good”
- How do they cartoonishly celebrate Star Wars: they don’t, so if that’s what you’re looking for, maybe head over to Mediocritee
Sweet & Crunchy
These are sorta like Reese’s peanut butter cups! Only, they have a lot less sugar. What they have instead is agave syrup and inulin. But, per one user quoted below, the side effects have been minimal.
You probably already knew all that, though. Because we’ve sold these before.
Which is to say: the reviews are in! And many of them say… we wrongly sent almond butter ones. Which is our bad. We’re going to work to not do that this time, we promise.
But anyway, here’s what people who received (or had previously tried) the actual peanut butter quinoa ones thought!
The inulin in them is very little. For me, no farts, no [phrase redacted because this sale depends on people not losing their appetite] etc. If you are actually looking for a snack that reasonably approximates the brand name PBcups, this is fairly good. If you like full up sugar, you are going to meh, bleh, yuck these as they are way less sweet. The quinoa gives a crunch without overpowering the PBcup. For those trying to get off/reduce sugar, decent sub.
I’m also pleasantly surprised at the taste factor - they aren’t Reese’s cups but they also don’t have the overbearing greasiness that those have. Also I don’t find them as addictive as the Trader Joe’s dark PB cups - I am fine eating one or two of these, rather than the downward spiral of choco-coma that ensues when I crack open the TJ brand.
Does this feel a little bit like a backhanded compliment, saying it’s good that these aren’t as crave-able as the ones from Trader Joe’s? Maybe! But a good review is a good review!
And a final one, from someone who holds a doctorate in a food-related field, @ProfessorPasta:
They far exceeded my expectations, especially considering the expiration date, which I’m not really worried about. They are definitely dark and creamy with a slight not-too-much crunch.
Now, we include this to clarify something. These actually don’t have an expiration date coming up. They do, however, have best-by dates ranging from 2/15/23 to 2/22/23. According to the USDA, a best-by date “indicates when a product will be of best flavor or quality. It is not a purchase or safety date.”
In other words, we don’t recommend you save them until 2026. But you don’t have to worry about them turning to poison by March.
So get some peanut butter cups with crunchy quinoa. And if you’d like to add your review, please post it in the comments.
