Excellent shot by a friend of our (Salt Lake valley) current inversion.
It will be something like 20 degrees warmer up above the muck, even though the altitude is higher.
I wonder why the Utah tourism board never uses pictures like this?

Colorado front range gets them too. Around here, it’s impending snowstorms that literally stink - the air comes down from the Montfort stockyards up in Greeley and it smells like manure!
