Not my cat but looks about right. In the past I have had a few trees fall over due to feline “ornament” occupants along with all the ornaments within reach knocked off and scattered around.
I had cats for a number of years and don’t remember one of them ever knocking down a tree, the dog on the other hand. We actually anchored it to the wall that year
@Cerridwyn Mine liked to climb them and sit in them. I had to tie mine to the wall because of that. It’s when I didn’t that my fake tree fell over with them in it.
I have not had a christmas tree in at least 25 years. Because I am hosting festivities this year, my sister said I had to have a christmas tree and suggested this one. Ladybird approves. I’ve also been using it to store cat toys.
I travel for a week+ around Christmas so I don’t put up a tree (other than a few small Lego ones at work). I don’t trust my cats to leave it alone while I’m gone. Maybe one year I’ll put one up after I get home and leave it up until Epiphany.
@gt0163c
Epiphany was always the day we took ours down when the kids were little. And it marked the end of the 12 days of Christmas and the last of the presents.
@chienfou I always leave my decorations at work up until Epiphany. Some friends used to have an Epiphany party every year. That was always a fun time. Sadly they don’t do it anymore. It’s just not something celebrated by many people, at least where I am.
@chienfou@gt0163c we always left them up until my bday. As a pretty little kiddo I felt like it wasnt fair my sis got the house decorated for Christmas on her bday and I didnt so I asked if we could leave them up an extra week or so.
It wasnt until I was an older teenager or a little older we took them down just after or on NY
@chienfou@gt0163c@therealjrn tough room. I meant pretty little. Aka young. Nothing petty, I just wanted the beautiful decorations on my birthday too.
I should also add that I share a bday w my great grandma and thought it was cool that she left her tree up until her birthday. Thats actually where I got the idea.
@chienfou@gt0163c@therealjrn oh thanks, I adored my Grandma Kitty. She was the sweetest, tiniest thing. I was born on her 70th bday and we would go over to celebrate w her and she would always make a tomato soup cake.
@tinamarie1974 I had to look up Tomato Soup Cake. And now I want to make one. Won’t get a chance to until I get home from visiting family for Christmas, but perhaps in time to go back to work after New Years.
@chienfou@gt0163c@therealjrn@tinamarie1974@unksol It’s where it was in the sentence - if she’d said “when I was pretty little” we wouldn’t have thought twice, but it looked like it modified “girl;” I initially read it that way for a moment too!
/youtube pretty little baby
@chienfou@gt0163c@Kyeh@therealjrn@tinamarie1974 lol just saying it’s a strange word if you think about it. Like in Spanish I would use Bonita for pretty. Pequeno for Little. Not sure how they would say the same thing. English is weird sometimes
@chienfou@gt0163c@therealjrn@tinamarie1974@unksol It is wonderfully weird since it’s absorbed so many words from such a variety of languages. But I guess very hard to learn as a second language because of so many exceptions to the “rules.”
@gt0163c@Kyeh@therealjrn@tinamarie1974@unksol
It makes perfect sense but it’s hard to convey the cadence when it’s typed out. If you run pretty little together with a slight pause before girl it makes total sense…
My pug was intrigued, but ultimately left the tree alone. This is his 12th Christmas, but he has gone blind since the last time we had a tree, so I was worried he’d not know what was going on and do something like think he’s outside and pee on it. I think he remembers the smells of the season and moved on after a quick sniff.
And this is my friend’s cat (meh folks saved his life a number of years ago, he is now 10 although about 8 in this photo). He does this every year.
So far both the cats are totally blasé about our little Norfolk pine. Hope it lasts

@Cerridwyn I don’t usually put up a tree but they have a 100% success rate when there is one.
Being artificial trees a couple pound payload jumping around at the top does it.
It it’s a real tree the mass is way different/I could see it tolerating a cat or two with a heavy base
@sillyheathen
@sillyheathen adorable

@ironcheftoni
@ironcheftoni I love that! It’s perfect. (Yeah, okay - purrfect.)
@ironcheftoni well done

/As a pretty little kiddo
I’ve got to learn to pay closer attention. When I first read that I automatically put a comma between “pretty” and “little”… causing me to think…WOW!
/giphy face palm

I’m such an idiot.
@chienfou @gt0163c I can’t speak for our precious @tinamarie1974 but I * think* she may have meant to type “petty” Either way, it works
@therealjrn
ouch

Cool story, and neat connection to your great grandma.
And yes you wrote it correctly, I read it wrong! Mea culpa!
@chienfou @gt0163c @tinamarie1974 Oh gosh! I am so sorry! :embarrassed:
@chienfou @gt0163c @therealjrn oh thanks, I adored my Grandma Kitty. She was the sweetest, tiniest thing. I was born on her 70th bday and we would go over to celebrate w her and she would always make a tomato soup cake.
Good memories
@chienfou @gt0163c @therealjrn @tinamarie1974 Well, I’m sure you were a pretty pretty little kiddo.

@gt0163c IMO it is delicious. I hope you like it!!!
@chienfou @gt0163c @Kyeh @therealjrn @tinamarie1974
Lol pretty is so context based. Especially with a little after.
https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/pretty
My brain parsed it as little was the age range.(Small child) And than pretty meant the lower end of said range. They don’t even give that example
We all know what pretty large/pretty small mean. Lol. Then there is just pretty

@chienfou @gt0163c @Kyeh @therealjrn @tinamarie1974 yea… That one is just weird.
Pretty modifying little/big/etc. vs both modifying the noun… As if English follows the rules all the time anyway. Lol

@chienfou @gt0163c @Kyeh @tinamarie1974 @unksol All I know is, I was pretty far off in my interpretation. I can’t aplogize enough to pretty @tinamarie1975. Ok, I’m pretty well done here. Have a pretty good Saturday y’all.
