I forget, what “gen” is doing the max-ing now?
I think I am closer to Geritol-maxing. Wait, do they even have that any more?
Remember, grandpa, always do drugs responsibly!
Not like what you did with grandma in the 1960’s.
On the other hand, then I probably wouldn’t be here.
@pmarin I’m just out here at the start of my sixth decade skillsmaxxing, so that I can actually do things when everybody younger than me has had their brains fully pureed by “AI” addiction.
@phendrick I started seeing Christmas countdowns on one show. Luckily I don’t go to retail stores much anymore; not sure when the Christmas music will hit. Apparently the run was already on for the big skeletons or inflatables. Now, maybe a jumbo reindeer skeleton, that would be cool! Now kids, don’t worry, that wasn’t Rudolph. But he was delicious!
@phendrick@pmarin
Stopped at a Cracker Barrel for a restroom break on our way to Nashville from Central Alabama. They already had full on Halloween displays out in their ‘store’ section… Some marked down…
@mehvid1 yeah you could mix up your own. Include peanuts, honey, and almonds, and whatever else. Wait, where is the chocolate in the dark chocolate bar?
@pmarin just sayin’ there are other options that don’t include sweeteners as 3 of the 4 most prevalent ingredients. I also try to avoid palm kernel oil as much as I can. I used to respect this brand more, for some reason. Having said that, I did order some of the kids’ muffin bars….
@mehvid1 how are the blueberry muffin bars, blueberry-wise? I love blueberries when fresh or baked into things, but some packaged blueberry stuff just seems artificial-y even if it’s supposedly real.
@pakopako@pmarin no grapes here, but anyway, I haven’t actually tried them yet, so can’t say for sure about the taste. As for “smothered by sugar,” you’ll be very hard-pressed to find any packaged foods with dried blueberries that don’t have a sugary coating. This offering seems to have less sugar and more oats, etc., than the other choices that were available. Cheers.
@Springbank I’m actually the other way around: the granola bags are more useful to me (they soak up yogurt very well) and the bars leave to much in-between my teeth
About the whole “looks-maxxing” thing, if you were thinking “haha of course literally breaking your jaw on a too-hard snack bar is just an over-the-top parody of cosmetic surgery”… no, no it’s really not. The “maxxing” reality is much worse than that.
/showme Hand here every finger has face with eyes and mouth. All of the fingers are arguing with each other about which show to watch. Jumping spider is looking on with frustration.
@mediocrebot Ha! Hands with fingers with hands! Oh, I thought the jumping spider wasn’t very frustrated, but now I can see little furry “hands” held up to it’s head in … frustration.
For those who have had these which are good and which are not so good. I vaguely remember people commenting on the mango ones before. How do the blueberry ones fair? Protein max?
The smallest first-world annoyance: I’d love to buy more varieties of the protein max bars, but the 48 pack is half vegan-friendly and half that have milk powder…
@mehrrychristmas I see the listing on slickdeals, but I don’t see $8 anywhere on amazon. I must not be included in the “select accounts” the offer is for.
@bob4ut@Dbn@pakopako Yeah, no. Ordered a week ago with today as the last estimated delivery date, and it’s still “processing”. At least they removed the cancel link on the order, so maybe they’re on it. Any day now.

oof… too many choices. would have been nice if there was a assorted variety pack that came with one container/box/bag of each item being offer.
(first world struggles)
@seespotbark Only 9 options to choose from now instead of 14. Does that help?
I forget, what “gen” is doing the max-ing now?

@pmarin that’s the introduction to Idiocracy.
Seems like it was just the 4th of July. How did it get to be Halloween shopping time so soon?
@phendrick I started seeing Christmas countdowns on one show. Luckily I don’t go to retail stores much anymore; not sure when the Christmas music will hit. Apparently the run was already on for the big skeletons or inflatables. Now, maybe a jumbo reindeer skeleton, that would be cool! Now kids, don’t worry, that wasn’t Rudolph. But he was delicious!

Today’s icon is too close to Jul 03, the hand vacuum that was not a personal “massager” … well maybe it could be.
@pmarin It’s definitely creepy.
@Chienfou - more granola for you!!!
@Kyeh
Thanks. Just found this as we are ‘away from home’. Will have to think on it some. (Choc-PB already sold out)
@chienfou But the ones you praised were the Dark Chocolate Chunk & they’re still available!
@Kyeh
D’oh, you’re right. Must be the altitude!
@chienfou So did you get some?
If you’re looking to be KIND to yourself, this ain’t it.
“PEANUT BUTTER
DARK CHOCOLATE INGREDIENTS: Peanuts, glucose syrup, cane sugar, honey, almonds, palm kernel oil….”
@mehvid1 @pmarin it’s smothered by sugar and grapes, but on the plus side, there’s grapes.
@pakopako @pmarin no grapes here, but anyway, I haven’t actually tried them yet, so can’t say for sure about the taste. As for “smothered by sugar,” you’ll be very hard-pressed to find any packaged foods with dried blueberries that don’t have a sugary coating. @mehvid1 @pmarin Fair, but these are made with raisin paste (grapes).
@pakopako ah, yes. I see now. I don’t mean to have “sour grapes” about the whole thing.
@mehvid1 I didn’t find my joke too a-peel-ing either.
Portable chargers or granola bars world be a more appropriate name for this website…
@admiralpoopants that would sound so Meh, though. … oh, I see. Yes!
Way too many choices. The bars are usually pretty good. The granola is pretty meh.
@Springbank I’m actually the other way around: the granola bags are more useful to me (they soak up yogurt very well) and the bars leave to much in-between my teeth
@pakopako @Springbank I thought the granola was ok but I miss the fruit bars which have been gone for years.

Damnit @troy, you got me again with the snacks!

@FushYuMang Here’s the image you requested for “patronizing-latest-spider”
@FushYuMang @mediocrebot Hrrrr, I didn’t know index finger could talk. I’m gonna have to think about this.

For those who have had these which are good and which are not so good. I vaguely remember people commenting on the mango ones before. How do the blueberry ones fair? Protein max?
@mehrrychristmas the ones with allulose are too sweet for me.
The smallest first-world annoyance: I’d love to buy more varieties of the protein max bars, but the 48 pack is half vegan-friendly and half that have milk powder…
@gdorn I also noticed that slickdeals has a listing for protein max for $8 for 12 for chocolate peanut butter via Amazon S&S.
@mehrrychristmas I see the listing on slickdeals, but I don’t see $8 anywhere on amazon. I must not be included in the “select accounts” the offer is for.
ETA: nm, I see it’s hiding behind a “coupon”
Jeez, do even the pistachios have peanuts in them?
Are “soft baked” and “half baked” synonyms?
Is KIND ok? Did their vp of production over produce them snack bars? Market oversaturated ?
Shipping takes forever. MEH is meh
@bob4ut estimated delivery is slated for next week; it hasn’t even started to be packaged.
@bob4ut @pakopako A previous order placed on July 2nd was delivered today so I’m guessing a 2-3 week turn around on most stuff
@bob4ut @Dbn @pakopako Yeah, no. Ordered a week ago with today as the last estimated delivery date, and it’s still “processing”. At least they removed the cancel link on the order, so maybe they’re on it. Any day now.
