Meh. So much meh. I’d have to say that the prospect is about as exciting as watching a soufflé fall. It’s made that much more intense by the fact that I have pretty close to absolute certainty that if there’s a regular 'Thon involved, the items up for sale will just be more of the SOS that’s listed over on SideDeal right now. And that would not have to be a bad thing, but so much of it is stuff we’ve seen before, and most of the rest is just variations on the same. It’s like shopping in your own browser history.
@shawn Yeah - in spite of all the rage and lamentation and vows to “leave Meh” and never try for Irks again, somehow they always sell out in under a minute - well, except this last time with the absurdly-priced ones.
@Kyeh@shawn The ground has been laid for a lack of enthusiasm this time, between the inflation of the price and the deflation of the fun in so many ways. We now have had our collective noses rubbed in the fact that these grab boxes are truly more regrettable than we’d like to recall, and the you-gotta-spend-more-yet coupons are unlikely to soothe the ranklings that the deliveries left behind. And yet, despite all that, they will still go fast at $5.
And there’s essentially no way that anyone’s going to have time to use a 5-er-coup to turn around and get another IRK unless a big batch can only be bought that way.
@Kyeh@shawn@werehatrack I think as people see that the higher priced ones contained the same shit as the cheap ones the old saying will come into play “Fool me once shame on you, Fool me twice shame on me.”
@Felton10@shawn@werehatrack
Well, it might deter people from buying expensive ones if that happens again, but the $5 ones will be just as hard to get. I didn’t get anything this last round - I quit when they upped the price to $25.
@Felton10@Kyeh@shawn I got two this last time, averaging $27.50 each, and the regret was strong. Cumulatively, I feel like I’ve probably gotten my entertainment dollar’s worth from them and usually broke even on the value in the past, but not this time. No way am I going past $5 again; everyone else is welcome to them.
@Felton10@Kyeh@shawn@werehatrack
They were completely honest in telling everyone repeatedly that the folks packing and shipping the IRKs had no idea when they were sold or for how much. An IRK is an IRK is an IRK.
What part of that was confusing or causing you to imagine the $90 IRK and the $200 IRK were not the same as the $5 IRK?
You were buying coupons (basically gift cards) and getting a free regular everyday IRK.
@Felton10@mike808@shawn@werehatrack Don’t know why you’re including me - I didn’t bite, didn’t get an Irk or any coupons. I fully understand the disclaimer. It’s been kind of interesting though too see that the lower priced ones so far seem to have better stuff in them!
@Felton10@Kyeh@shawn@werehatrack
When you reply, the forums reply all.
You’re not special. I’m just lazy.
I think it’s werehatrack that’s salty over it.
I’ll just be happy to get one(if fate smiles upon me) to date I believe that I’ve gotten 1 BOC, 1 FUKU and 1 or 2 IRKs…EVER!!! I know the risk and I still am excited whenever I open them crap or not. The experience alone is worth it to me… Even if I only got a pallet of Track’rs, still be worth it.
@Kidsandliz@sicc574@werehatrack Trackers that don’t work and claws that fit no one. Let me qualify that-they fit my daughter, but she didn’t like the way they felt. Probably the reason meh got them cheap to sell.
@sicc574 You’re way ahead of me; I’ve never managed to get a BOC or an IRK. My brother snagged a couple BOCs years ago, but i think he quit trying a few years ago.
Even though I’ve gotten over 30 IRKs, there still is a childlike feeling even at my age of getting a box (like a gift) that you have no idea what is in it. Once it hit the $20 mark and they were only selling 50 at a time, I knew my chances of getting were nil plus if I spent any more than $5 my wife would kill me-two good reasons to avoid the higher price ones.
I think the next time they sell IRKs, it will either make or break them. If it was a one time experiment to shake things up, see what they market will bear and make some extra money and they go back to $5 all the time, then all will be forgiven as its memory fades into the past. On the other hand, it becomes the new norm, I think it will seriously damage the brand from which I doubt they will recover.
@Felton10 It will do yet more damage to the enthusiasm level here in the forums, certainly. The question whose answer we are better off not requesting is “Do these forums matter one tiny bit to Meh, really?”
@werehatrack Since the powers that be do answer questions about problems, I assume someone reads them although how far up the food chain they are as decision makers who knows.
@mike808@werehatrack I think you have to weigh the enjoyment factor with the quality of the items you get. My daughter gets most of the good things to sell and has sold those items on ebay for several times what I paid for my IRKs. And then of course I got arguably the best IRK anyone had ever gotten which I am sure everyone is tired of hearing about.
@lisagd I didn’t initially but made sure my computer’s time was sync’d and kept pushing refresh as soon as the clock reached zero. Probably fast computer and ethernet rather than wifi connection helped also.
@tinamarie1974@werehatrack yes, but any reduction in volume would presumably make it easier for me to score an IRK. So even if only 10 or 15% abstain, my odds increase.
2 hot 2 care much.

@shawn @werehatrack Yep, watch them all sell out within seconds next time just the same.
@Kyeh @shawn @werehatrack I think as people see that the higher priced ones contained the same shit as the cheap ones the old saying will come into play “Fool me once shame on you, Fool me twice shame on me.”

@Felton10 @mike808 @shawn @werehatrack And Felton.
But hey, I am, I am -
Oh. Maybe that should be “spacy.”
@Felton10 @Kyeh @shawn @werehatrack
Or spicy.
@Kyeh @shawn @werehatrack
I don’t really want an IRK.
But … when they are $5, I really wanna be the one who gets one.
I wanna “win” something I don’t even want to have.
I love feeling so very idiotic in such a self-aware situation.
Hey, $5.
(Tho I don’t expect to ever again get a $5 one. Can’t compete.)
@Felton10 @mike808 @shawn @werehatrack
“Yeah! That’s it! That’s the ticket!”
@Felton10 @Kyeh @mike808 @shawn
Or specious? Spacious? Sporty? Sporiferous?
@Felton10 @Kyeh @mike808 @shawn @werehatrack I wish I was special…

I’m in for $250

@sicc574 Do not tempt the sleeping gods of PastaDrop…
@sicc574 @werehatrack Yeah they seem to have an endless supply of trackers and claws.
@Kidsandliz @sicc574 @werehatrack Trackers that don’t work and claws that fit no one. Let me qualify that-they fit my daughter, but she didn’t like the way they felt. Probably the reason meh got them cheap to sell.

@Felton10 @werehatrack I think it was an experiment to see how a price increase would go over with the community.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see the $10 IRK become the new normal. Possibly starting this week at the birthday Mehrathon.
@Felton10 @mike808 With a disclaimer saying they are twice as not worth it for ten as they were for five?
@mike808 @werehatrack I think you have to weigh the enjoyment factor with the quality of the items you get. @Felton10 How do you manage to get so many? I hit Buy as soon as the time changes, but they always sell out before I get to the payment screen.
@lisagd I didn’t initially but made sure my computer’s time was sync’d and kept pushing refresh as soon as the clock reached zero. Probably fast computer and ethernet rather than wifi connection helped also.
@Felton, I agree. I say we protest and NO ONE click that button tomorrow. I dare y’all to abstain from purchasing an IRK.
I wonder if that will work, she says softly to herself???
@tinamarie1974 what percentage of Meh’s customers read the forums?
Therein lies your answer.
@tinamarie1974 @werehatrack yes, but any reduction in volume would presumably make it easier for me to score an IRK. So even if only 10 or 15% abstain, my odds increase.
@CharlieDoggo @tinamarie1974
“You go first.”
@tinamarie1974 @werehatrack ok! I promise to NOT buy an Irk! Doggo honor!
Ha, jokes on Werehatrack! Mom wont give me the credit card to buy anything after my last Chewy.com purchase! The BIG peanut butter box came here!!!
